I decided to install Debian on my Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio). Everything worked, but the default GeForce 2 only worked at 1024x768 at few colors. Is there any way to fix this?

I have upgraded to Lucid and I am using the Ambiance theme. Its all great apart from aptana's code suggest seems to be a bit odd. I have seen this thread but cannot reply to it. [URL]. Is there any update? Is this an ubuntu theme thing I need to edit or can I change one of the hundred aptana options?

not matter is it Firefox or Opera.. I sometimes have problem after closing tab, in which I watched some flash video ( mostly ........ First specifinations : GPU : MSI Nvidia GeForce 9500GT 512MB, 128 bit ( installed restricted drivers, latest version, recomended..) Flash plugin is latest stable, Firefox and Opera too... System : Ubuntu 10.10 gnome ( installed just few days ago, but it happened before to..)
Compiz enabled, latest stable...
So I open video in new tab... watch it ( sometimes whole, sometimes just part..) and sometimes, when I close that tab, I have problems with that part of screen, where that video was - system wide.. Some letter are not whole.. you can't read them... some colors are mixed, and wrong.. It looks like this :
I have to take picture with digital camera, since print screen points correct image, so that means that I have either monitor, or GPU problem.. (No problem on Windows 7, and I think no problem with Compiz beta, but alot of other bugs with compiz beta) This is how it should look:
When I opened those images on ubuntu, I wanted to crop them.. I noticed that some flash video, in background.. not the flash, but that last image frame only.. So how I move image viewer, that image stays in same place - that is the place where I have problem.. Here are images on that :...

I am new to Linux (Ubuntu 10.4 LTS on a Thinkpad T40), now just two days, and had everything working nicely. But since I wanted a better higher resolution I tried to set the monitor resolution to a higher value. After selecting a higher resolution first the screen went black and now it has a white background and is steady but has flickering areas. The system is still working. How can I go back to the resolution that was working?

I was installing some packages yesterday, I think one of them was an update for grub. (I'm using grub 2). When I rebooted, the console text was in green, not the usual white. (using gfxpayload=800x600 i.e. console is in graphics mode). I first thought maybe it was some kind of St. Patrick's day joke, but now I am getting tired of it. How do I set the color scheme back to normal?

I upgraded to Ubuntu to 11.04, but when I now open firefox and go to localhost, some PNG images have really strange colors. This is not the case when I display the webpage in Google Chrome. I'm not sure if I will have similar problems with all PNG's, but I wouldn't be surprised. For instance, a random PNG in Firefox 4:
And the same image in Chrome: What could be the problem? How do I solve this? This only seems to hapen with alpha transparent images!

After upgrading to Natty/Unitiy I was having problems with very slow and choppy window motion. I tried reinstalling fglrx, and now some of the colors in firefox are coming out inverted (e.g. yellow -> purple) or perhaps just scrambled in some other way (see attached screenshot). There are no other issues I've seen other than some colors in firefox. Most colors look okay.
I downloaded chromium and there are no problems with colors there. I've also upgraded to the latest fglrx drivers from the ATI website and nothing changed. I also uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and still the colors are coming out strangely. Some info. I have an HP Pavilion tx2500ca, with ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics].

a few months ago, I installed Ubuntu Studio 10.4 x64 edition on my computer, and I was able to invert the colors in Firefox by pressing "Windows-Key + M".Since I updated to the latest Ubuntu Studio release, 11.x, via the upgrade function, this inverting of colors does not work any more. How can I do it now ? PS: I'm using Firefox 4.0.1 right now - maybe I was using Firefox 3.6 (I don't recall it exactly) under Ubuntu 10.4 and hence it's got something to do with the browser rather than the OS ?

i am having problems with firefox4 and flash with some sites like msnbc. videos seems to be ok. flash displays displays various blocks of color and is not usable when the problems presents itself. i have the problem on f13,f14, f15 with all versions of firefox4 on two different machines (intel and ati graphics). i tried the new test ubuntu (11.04) and all is fine so i am thinking it is something special about fedora's flash plugin. i mentioned this a couple of weeks ago and it didn't seem to be a common experience.

I have been using ubuntu netbook 10.10 on my Dell Mini 9 for the past few month without any problem; it connects wirelessly to the internet via a wireless router. Yesterday in the middle of web surfing, suddently firefox cannot see any website outside of my home network (Firefox displays Server not found page). No help when I rebooted a few times and connect to my home network via wireless or even wire cable; it can access files in my network file server (DNS-321) but not the internet. My desktop computer running Windows Vista and ASUS media player has no problem accessing the internet.

I've had a minor, yet potentially embarrassing bug in Firefox 3.0.x for many months in Ubuntu 9.04, and just recently also experienced it with a fresh install of 9.10 with Firefox 3.5.x. Basically what happens is that occasionally a favicon will incorrectly be associated with a bookmark until I visit the bookmarked web site again. And these will be favicons from websites that I do not have bookmarked. Normally I wouldn't care. But if I was surfing porn, sometimes the porn site favicon would show up on one of bookmarks. Which could cause a bit of embarrassment. LOL
It turns out through a bit of sheer luck, I discovered that the problem seemed to be a bug in the "Tab Mix Plus" Firefox add-on. Since I only wanted that add-on for it's last tab selected feature, I un-installed it and installed a much more light weight and simple add-on called "LastTab" to recreate that functionality. And I have yet to have this problem since then. I suppose it's possible that it could be an interaction problem between add-ons. So just for completeness of information, here's a list of all my add-ons prior to un-installing Tab Mix Plus and installing LastTab.

I have a machine with Ubuntu 11.04 on it. I have not installed any developmental build of Firefox 5 (unless that came with Ubuntu for some unfathomable reason). For some reason Firefox 4 seems intent on identifying itself as Firefox 5.0. How do I fix this? My extensions won't install claiming they can't run on 5.0.

The font settings are all serif and sans serif in both the system fonts settings and firefox settings.
I am using ubuntu 9.10.
Any idea why this could be happening?

I just upgrade to F14 from F10 on a dual montor setup. Firefox behaives differently on F14 than on F10.
On F10 it followed the mouse pointer's location and show up on the correct monitor
When maximized at close, it is always displayed on the left monitor. When not maximized at close it will open on the monitor where the mouse pointer is located.
About minimize/maximize Firefoxe before closing and it seems to work in some case, but not for me.

I was wondering if it is possible to specify a custom color theme that Ubuntu should apply to one application only. Specifically, I want to customize the tooltop color for Eclipse.
Fwiw, the reason I want to do this is that karmic's ambiance theme provides black tooltip backgrounds with white tooltop text, but eclipse (stupidly) uses the black tooltip background for content assist boxes while ignoring the tooptip text color and instead applying its own sytnax highlighting rules, which specify black text. This results in black text on a black background -- ugh!

About an hour ago I completed the Network upgrade to Maverick from Lucid. Immediately I see some changes over Lucid: my computer can now hibernate successfully, a feature that worked in Hardy, but was broken in Karmic and Lucid. But a small annoyance is the strange colors. There is an abundance of purple colors in icons, in links, in indicators. I have attached a small snapshot of my browser. The circled purple area should be blue in normal contions.

I am trying to use the ncurses library for a little side project and am currently trying to display text with varying colors on the screen. I would like for my program to be able to change the hues of the default colors(e.g. make red a little dark, blue a little lighter, etc).
However, according to the ncurses function can_change_color() my terminal does not allow for colors to be altered. I know how to change the palette of colors that my terminal is using but I was wondering if there was a way to allow my colors to be "editable" in a sense.
My terminal is Gnome 2.30.2 and I'm running Ubuntu 10.04LTS

I'm getting very frustrated and confused with conky-colors. I was reading OMGubuntu, and saw that Conky Colors 7 had been release and it looked pretty [URL]pt to install it from that page, but got hopelessly confused. I would really just like some step by step, noob friendly instructions. I managed to do these first two steps though:"$sudo apt-get install aptitude python-keyring python-statgrab ttf-ubuntu-font-family hddtemp curl lm-sensors conky-all
$sudo chmod u+s /usr/sbin/hddtemp"

I noticed as I was watching a video that the colors are totally off. I don't have any problems with the Monitor or the display of websites, it's only videos that aren't displayed correctly. Could that be due to the graphic card? I thought about updating the drivers but since I did that when I installed Ubuntu and had the problem from the beginning I wonder what it could be.
