View 2 RepliesI have been trying to use f-spot to export pictures to facebook. I looked around and saw some people's hanging on fetching albums or whatever. My login hangs on "session established, fetching friend details", and eventually gives me the login button again, which I press to no avail. I run f-spot --debug and get no error reports.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBecause of facebooks new photo uploading java thing that wont install I am looking into other alternatives for uploading pictures to facebook from my UNR 9.10 netbook. I've found that F-spot can do this but.. When I log into facebook through f-spot, it starts to log in... than just freezes while its loading and the loading bar says:
Session established, fetching friend details...
Does anyone know if you can actually upload to facebook with f-spot? Or why f-spot freezes at this point?
Here's a screenshot of where it stops loading at.. I leave it for like 10-15 minutes and still nothing happens.
I have recently installed ubuntu 11.04 on my pc after that I tried to login on facebook but could not.I can open other internet pages easily but problem is with facebook only.I get an error message ERR 118 The operation has timed out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe latest version of Spotify incorporates a social networking part, which allows you to connect with your friends to share playlists etc. However, accessing this feature using Ubuntu and running Spotify with Wine isn't the easiest thing to do. Regular Spotify works well, but I cannot login to my Facebook account. Apparantly, this is due to that part of Spotify using IE7 components.
I couldn't get past the diaglogue box asking me to enter usr/pass, but after some googling I got IE7 support for Wine running using Winetricks. Now I can log in, but I get stuck at another point: the window where I'm to accept that Spotify accesses my private information. I click OK but then it just stands still, loading, and nothing happens. I know the new version just came out, how to fix it? Perhaps adding some other stuff with Winetricks beside IE7 support?
Lucid is adamn good release and in my opinion, one of the best till date. If I have to rate Lucid on its OOB Factor (Out Of Box), I would rate it 9.7/10.I have an AMD based laptop with ATI graphics chipset and this used to be a major headache (ATI's fault ofcourse) previously and I was gearing up for another hour or so of installing the video drivers from ATI and getting it to work. But,suprisingly it just worked out of the box with visual effects enabled. Every component on my machine worked as it ought to be.
I cant say enough about the interface overhaul. Its like a F16 got upgraded with some slick Alien technology. Ubuntu 10.04 is surely a GOLD standard for all Linux Distros out there. Coming to this minor issue, I am unable to add the facebook account in Me Menu via gwibber. It takes the login credentials and prompts me to allow or deny publishing to facebook. Clicking on allow doesn't do anything, it just sits there.
seahorse export menu is always disabled. I need to export the passwords to restore it after formatting my machine.

I want to also use this ibVPN account on my desktop running Hardy. I've tried to manually transpose all the configuration info, but it keeps coming up with errors (a number of errors, including sometimes "bad username/password"). So I thought: "Hey, why am I even bothering with all this manually transposition of credentials? I can just Export the account config info from the (working) Jaunty machine and then import them straight into the Hardy machine." Should be pretty simple, huh? Woulda, coulda, shoulda. I go to the VPN tag in the Network-Manager on Jaunty, select "ibVPN" (the working VPN account) and click Export. I tell it to save the info to a file called ibVPN (pptp).conf... and I get an error saying:
Code:
Cannot export VPN connection The VPN connection 'ibVPN' could not be exported to ibVPN (pptp).conf Error: unknown error You see that "Error: unknown error" crap? Means I don't even know what needs changing. Damn fool network-manager. I've tried jiggling stuff round, but nothing seems to make a difference.

I am facing a problem concerning secure websites where I get the "Connection Reset" error in browser after a timeout of I think 1 minute.
OS: Fedora 14 ( I faced same problem with Ubuntu 10.10 )Browsers: Chrome and Firefox
The issue is not there on Windows using Chrome and Firefox so I believe this is a problem with how linux manages secure connections. I can access all the google secure websites too. There a few other websites apart from facebook.com that I know which I am unable to access.
I'm new to Ubuntu and I'm remote from the server. I'm setting up an Ubuntu server 10.04 x64. My intention is to load Oracle 11g, however I know I will need to be able to export an X display back to my desktop (Solaris) to run the Oracle installer. What do I need to load to get X working enough to export the display back to myself. I need to provide additional information. Since I'm new I may not have adequately covered what's needed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently powered up my netbook... Selected my user log in, entered my password, and after a couple seconds I briefly see what looks to be the console and am returned to the login splash screen... I can Ctrl+Alt+F2 to get to the console and log in... but that is as far as I can get. This is the case for Gnome, Remix, and Remix 2D.
I can sudo apt-get (update, upgrade, etc) as well. It is the right password because if I type in a wrong one it presents an authentication failure dialog box.
How can I fix my log in screen and get to my desktop? I am Currently running 10.04.... waiting to get 10.10
System was fine with :Ubuntu 9.04 (had also installed kde )then....I wanted to try some change to gdm so i downloaded gdm while building it , it asked "PAM" libraries to be installed so i installed PAM ... but ignored the instruction to reinstall SHADOW (library i guess..),Now :on booting system i get login menu but i am not able to login , it says some critical error occured
1) install new copy of UBUNTU and remove old

I am not able to login to server from console attached to server, every time i enter username & password but it again asks for username & password. But when i try to login to server from remote machine, login happens properly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac G4 that I installed Jessie on successfully. However, when it boots, one of the last messages is:
[FAILED] Failed to start Load Kernel Modules.
Last line is something along the lines of:
fb: switching to nouveaufb from OFfb NVDA,NVMac
And then the text starts dissolving, and the entire screen cycles through different colors. I presume it is sitting at the graphical login prompt but it's not displaying correctly.
Based on some Google searches, it seems like I should be able to resolve this by editing /etc/modules but I can't get to that point. I have tried to get to a terminal using ctrl-alt-F1 through ctrl-alt-F12. No luck. I tried different yaboot options that were supposed to avoid using the video driver. No luck. How do I get the machine to boot straight to a regular text login instead of the X one?
This machine worked fine running Mac OS X this morning, so I don't think it's the hardware. What I can do.
I am using rhel 5.3. I am using windows 2003 server 32-bit (the processor is 64 bit. AMD athlon x2). I have installed vmware and installed rhel5.3 64 bit on top of it. Now i am able to login as root from GUI mode (f7 console), but unable to login in text console from f1 to f6. I checked the /etc/securetty. But there was nothing unusual there. I think udev is causing this problem, since google said so. I cant find where the udev.rules file is located that google searches are taking about. How do i enable root login in f1-6 console.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get the f-spot screensaver working under KDE. I found the f-spot-screensaver executable in usr/lib/gnome-screensaver/gnome-screensaver/f-spot-screensaver, and the executable works just fine under KDE when run from the command line. I also found a .desktop file in /usr/share/applications/screensavers/f-spot-screensaver.desktop.
I also installed xscreensavers, and they all seem to work just fine, but I can't figure out how to make the f-spot version show up in control panel.
using 9.10 Karmic Koala I have a folder of JPGs. Rightclick on one, choose Open With F=Spot. A small window opens. Then a larger one, identifying the F-Spot program. Then everything goes away. Or I go to Applications/Graphics/F-SpotPhotoManager the same thing happens: small window, big window, gone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I opened F-spot this morning I got an error message, then it opened a new database - which has nothing in it. Reopening f-spot simply loads the new empty database again. find my old database and get f-spot to use it again? The new database appears to be located in ~/.config/f-spot/photos.db (I'll print out the contents below).

I have my data on an NTFS drive. When I try to import pictures from this drive, I only get an option for the drive. That is, I cannot choose a sub-folder from which to import. I understand I can tell F-Spot to use sub-folders, but I have many sub-folders with pictures, and I do not want all of them in F-Spot. Is there any way to import a single folder with F-Spot?
I have also tried drag and drop, but I have a hard time getting that to work as well.
So, I was just importing some images to F-Spot, when it suddenly crashed.
Now, when I try starting it, it flashes with some error that I can't read. It appears and disappears very quickly.
Here's the output from the terminal code...
I recently installed ubuntu 10.10 on my macbook 4,1 and it has been working great. It began showing a spot on the screen, just a slightly discolored spot. It remains regardless of what windows are open.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving just spent many hours going through my entire photo collection tagging, rotating and editing (red eye, cleaning up etc), I am now sat with the window open deciding whether or not it's safe to close it.
I cannot find a save or apply button so I'm not sure if these changes are only made in F-spot itself or if I have to do anything else to make sure it saves to the files.
I DID check the option about storing data in the files where possible but I don't want to just assume it and have to do all this again.
I'm having a very frustrating issue with F-spot Photo Manager, version 0.8.0-1. I've scanned the forums for days but have not happened upon a solution thus far. The application always crashes after importing photos --without moving the original files-- and will continue to crash after repeated attempts to launch the application. The only suitable work-around to open F-spot again is to delete the config folder in /home/username/.config/f-spot. But I can't seem to be able to "import" any photos into the library without the same process repeating itself. I've tried "importing" photos with "Detect Duplicates" turned off, but the same process occurs. Here is the output when launching F-spot from the terminal:
[Info 17:14:20.634] Initializing Mono.Addins

I've tried to eliminate all the different variables I can think of, but I haven't found a solution. This issue is present not only in Ubuntu, but also in openSuse 11.3 and Linux Mint 10.
