Ubuntu :: Error : Mount.nfs : Access Denied By Server While Mounting Hostname

I just built an AMD Phenom II Six Core with 4 Gigs Ram a 160Gib / and swap, and (2) Two Tb mirror for Raid (data storage) I had been using DMRAID in the deprecated box but this box has MDADM v3.1.4 - 31st August 2010 from source (on MDADM wikipedia).
I have no permission problems with using the raid and dmraid is un-installed. The raid is working perfectly and is mounted in my fstab with ext4 defaults 0 2 as my options.
I have two exports
/media/raid/Test
/test
Both show IP and subnet on the showmount -e for the server. I can mount the test just fine on the server. I cannot, however, mount the /media/raid/Test error: mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting hostname:/media/raid/Test Using dmraid I am able to have the deprecated box export and mount nfs shares from the raid but using MDADM on the new computer, I cannot. I get similar results with pointing MYSQL's data folder to a location on the "/media/raid/Database" (even with apparmor entries).
I run a mediaserver on Archlinux, working perfectly (or almost). I have set up NFS v3 and that worked for me on these clients:

Now I've upgraded my Lenny-box to squeeze and I see that 2 of my 3 shared folders (tdone and twatch) are mounted like they should and the third one (media) doesn't come up. A 'mount -a' as root gives this error: mount.nfs4: access denied by server while mounting (null) My relevant fstab-lines:

On the [URL], i see some steps related to portmap on the "NFS Server" and "NFS Client" sections. Would i need those steps as well? There's also a list of steps on [URL] (linked from [URL]. Are those necessary?
EDIT: Running showmount on the client seemed to show that NOTHING is shared on the server:

because we want UID/GUID to be mapped from names. This way, server and client do not need the users to share same UID/GUID. In that case,
1. Should i set those 2 fields to "no" and "yes" respectively instead?
2. Or else, how do i make sure that the uid on the server is mapped to something useful on the client instead of nobody and nogroup?

Firewall has 2049 open only. Other services suck as nfs or status, lockd have random ports, so firewalled.
I recently installed CentOS 5 as my server. I have samba running 100%, today i was working on NFS i had it semi working at one point where i could mount to the shared folder but i could not see any of the files in it, now when ever i try to access it i get, mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.100:/Server
Since FC6, NFS became very finicky and seemingly causes servers to randomly denying mounts from some terminals but not others, with all exactly the same new FC installation and exactly the same hardware - crazy!. The only difference is hostnames of the terminals trying to mount NFS volumes on the server and I made sure that /etc/hosts on all terminals and servers contain each others ip addresses and hostnames. I always uninstall SELinux which is truly a huge pain in a corporate environment. Is there ANY way I can relax the NFS authentication on the server in order to make sure clients can mount volumes?
e.g. the following is encountered often, with sometimes crazy situations that clients can only mount nfs volum es from the server after I first boot the server and then ALL the terminals. It is painful as you might agree! Other way round, no go, client will not mount until server is booted and then client booted.
In this case I really prefer windows lackey security. It works. Never mind how crappy windows is, at least I don't have diabolical access problems on servers.. NFS used to be very nice about 6 years ago but truly sucks recently imo. /]# mount -o soft -t nfs nfsserver:/public /xfer mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting nfsserver:/public
Using NFS on the client machine. I am running scientific linux on my machine. Its working fine for my other machines.I have made sure that the firewall is disabled and also the selinux too. here is what i get when i use rpcinfo -p on the client.

When trying to mount samba share off of domain member server sysimage in Windows receive error "There are currently no logon servers available to service this logon request". When trying to mount.cifs from PDC to samba share on sysimage receive error "mount error(13): Permission denied".
PDC is ClearOS 5.2 named "dc0" Samba file server is CentOS 5.5 x86_64 named "sysimage" dc0 Samba version is samba - 3.5.5-1.1.v5.i386 sysimage Samba version is samba-3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1.x86_64
dc0 is configured correctly to my knowledge, windows machines can join domain, domain users can log into windows machines, user directories are mapped properly, logon scripts run properly. sysimage ldap authentication is set up as shown in "Procedure 7.1.
I have not done the SMTP debug yet but just from basic troubleshooting, I think I know what the problem is. My mail server is rejecting my web server from sending mail due to 'relay access denied':

I set up a servber on my local machine, & also PHp - Both working fine.I'm trying to load up MYSQL i have installed it, & *can* start/stop the server. however if I do anything else with it, I get this error :-

(as yet, no tables / databases etc have been set up - as I can't get past this error message - I get the same error when setting up a database.)
Ps I did allow my usermname (when logged in to ubuntu) to edit / create files in the /usr/www/ directory (but it is still OWNED by 'root' - that directory)

First of all: it's been more than 12 years ago since I worked with Linux, and a lot has changed in the meantime. But I considered it a challenge to install Ubuntu 9.10 and lateron upgraded to 10.04 LTS without any troubles, until now:
Except my main partition ("/") all other partitions fail to mount. All NTFS partitions from my other OS and also 2 other linux ext4 partitions I've made are not accessible anymore. and, what bothers me the most: I deleted those 2 new linux partitions in the meantime because I couldn't access them initially because Root was the owner (Duh! root is standard disabled in Ubuntu, right?). After an attempt to try to automount all partitions following the help guides I got now big grey errors on my splashscreen while booting, telling that an error occured with e.g. /media/Backup because it is missing or it cannot be mounted, with 3 options below: waiting, skipping or using a command prompt to solve this. I always choose Skip for safety.
Now if I want to see the content of all my other partitions I got a popup telling me unable to mount e.g. /media/Downloads and the message included:

I can do this mount from an older version of SLAX but i can't from this new version. smb:/ can find then through the file explorer window but I can't mount them from the command line.Is there something i am doing wrong?

I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts
This morning it would not boot; when I tried to wake up the system, it gave me a bunch of errors, the last ones being as follows: "mount error: could not resolve address for servername: No address associated with hostname mountall: mount /media/shares [1402] terminated with status 1" I am writing this in Win 7 since I lost ubuntu. I am running Postfix 2.6.1 on Suse 11.2, and am receiving an error message on my windows machine saying "Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied." If I login to my email on the local machine or via squirrelmail I have no problem sending mail. The output of postconf -n is as follows:

I configure named and stumble upon the following problem: named is serious about user rights, every config file named uses should be named:named. I set rights to named:named as follows, but they get changed to root:named when I restart named as root. The same thing happens with SELinux context. This results in access denied type errors.
I am sure this information is out there somewhere, but Googling apache access.log and hostname does not give you any good leads... so I hope someone here might be able to provide me with a quick answer...I am setting up a cluster of web servers, so I would like to name the access.log and error.log with the hostname of the individual servers to be able to distinguish one from another.
I have a problem in my ubuntu 10.01 that it can't load a drive/volume in ubuntu. When I tried, it said: "Unable to mount location Error mounting: mount: /dev/sda1: can't read superblock". And when I boot my pc with 'Windows', it said : "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" under a blue screen. What can I do to solve this problem?
I have a linux server running slackware 13.37. I am trying to mount a samba share with my other slackware machine, but I get a "mount error(13): Permission denied" when I run
sudo mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt But, if I run sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.100/share /mnt
I've completed the installation of a CentOS server.Running the setup utility as root, ive set up a static IP and installed apache. Now this works ok. I can type in the servers IP address from my browser/putty/winSCP and access the server within the intranet. The problem is that i would also like to access the server using its hostname, e.g. http://centos or whatever Currently i cannot do it. I've searched the forums, edited the /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/hosts to no avail no matter what i do i cannot access it. i've disabled some services so im not sure if this is the fault.
I am using samba version 3 (probably), and the problem is that the linux based nas can only be accessed via its ip 192.168.x.x but not its hostname /server string appointed by the smb.conf file:

I've just made the switch from Ubuntu to Debian Squeeze and am having trouble connecting external media (be it a USB stick or an ext HD). The error I am getting when I connect anything via usb is the following:

I cannot install files from source (tar.bz, tar.bz2, tar.gz, etc) my latest attempt began at tuxfiles. following the 'tutorial', if you will, I managed to unpack the files; but when it came to the ./configure step, I got the following error: zsh: no such file or directory: ./configure
Here I figured different distros, slight variances, so instead I tried putting a space in the command (./ configure), and got this error. zsh: permission denied: ./
So finally I tried both ./configure and ./ configure as su and I still got the same errors... this is the same problem that I've always had when installing from source. I am using Fedora 12.
I am having difficulties with Pure-FTPD. I had it working at one time. I recently had to reinstall Ubuntu 10.10 because pure-ftpd stopped working for some reason and now I have a fresh install but pure-ftpd still does not work. This is what I did to install it.

I read somewhere that this could be a filezilla issue and to fix it I need to use active mode and use the filezilla external address [URL]... Of course I did this and the filezilla solution did not work this time. I am fairly sure it is a server issue this time.

My computer has been acting quite strange lately. It's been taking longer to boot, and my sound doesn't play anymore (Only a high pitched sound is heard, and no hardware for sound is detected). Just recently, my Windows 7 Partition returned the error of Disk Error Occured. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.
Any way I can fix my whole issue, I think my desktop is starting to die on me :O (And its only about 7 months old T_T)
my windows xp system has recently been messed up, everytime i boot, i see the windows logo and then it reboots so i decided to liveboot ubuntu in order to recover the important files on my hard drive and then reboot. Problem is when i try to click on my "500GB Filesystem" I get this message.Unable to mount 500GB FilesystemError mounting: mount exited with code 13:ntfs_attr_pread_i:ntfs_pread failed:/input/output error Failed to read NTFS $Bitmap:Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk/f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice.The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/directory(e.g./dev/mapper/nividia_eahaabcc1).
