View 5 RepliesBefore upgrade to 11.04, I can drag and drop some *bin or *sh file to taskbar as quick launcher. So, I want to drag these applications to the launcher panel in ubuntu 11.04, but it's rejected. I searched and only found that I can drag an application from app list to the launcher instead of.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 11.04 Unity.. the inconvenience I'm facing is that the launcher appears whenever I'm using the "Drag&drop" function in any application, for example Lotus Notes or Google Chrome.
Is there a way to prevent it from doing so?

i've installed cairo-dock to have some eye candy on my openbox desktopso everything's been good, and installed lxappearance so i won't have gnome daemon running all the time, the thing is that when i use the nautilus launcher from cairo dock, the window keeps the default theme of nautilus which is... in lack of a better word "ugly" you know is all gray and looks like the one that came with win$h!.. 98, but actually lxappearance works 'cause i can see the theme i chose when i execute rhythmbox or other application.so my question would actually be.. why it looks crappy only when i launch it from cairo-dock? the launcher uses the command nautilus --no-desktop, so maybe i have to add something so it will apply the theme?? i don't know.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 11.04, I noticed something strange, being that when I want to drag a file or folder from one Nautilus folder window to another which is not visible, I can no longer hold the item over said folder's taskbar button and wait for it to appear. It just shows the + for copy, and when I let go (which I have no choice but to eventually do), it creates a launcher to that item (I assume it's doing that, and not actually copying there, but the + has me unsure).
I've looked in Nautilus's preferences to see if this is some new behaviour that I can revert back to, but could find nothing there.
I'm of course using the Classic desktop with bottom panel being the taskbar. If you know how I can rectify this, please let me know, as the times I would want to create a file or folder launcher without the usual hassle would be rare, but I am constantly dragging stuff from one folder to another, and it would be a real pain to have to line up source and destination folders each time.
Currently I am installing Cairo 1.6.4. I have followed the instructions mentioned in [URL]. When I try to install using "make install" I am getting the following error,
Making install in src

Today I was using Gchempaint (part of Gnome Chemistry Tools) and found that the F12 version fails miserably to correctly export H to xyz. So I decided to install the latest version I found (0.11). There are, however, some problems I must sort out during compilation.
Apparently it does not see my 'cairo' installation and so I get the following error message:
Code:
checking for cairo... configure: error: Package requirements (cairo >= 1.6.0) were not met: No package 'cairo' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.Alternatively, you may set the environment variables cairo_CFLAGS and cairo_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details.
For some reason the general launcher button (+ in circle) in the unity menu has disappeared. I do not know how to restore it. Which means I have great problems to start al apps that are not standard in the menu.

I doubt this is a wnck function. direction of the right python package?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.4, and the first thing I notice is that I can't drag the windows to other workspaces except from the small box down on the left, which is too small and annoying for me, I want to drag the window from the title bar. I can't find where to change that in the system, does anyone know how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my previous versions of ubuntu(8.04, 9.10), I have been able to open applications and folders on one desktop and then drag and drop them onto any other desktop. I upgraded to 10.04 recently on two different computers and this functionality seems to be gone. I can drag around but the cursor stops when it hits the edge of the desktop instead of popping over to the next desktop. The only visible option is to right click and choose move to right or down workspace. This is okay but it can take several steps to move them diagonally if needed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading from Maverick to Natty (and re-enabling Desktop Cube/Cube Rotation in Compiz) I am unable to drag windows any more. I'm sure this'll be diagnostically useful; if I use the window context menu/drop-down and select Move, that also does nothing. Also, the window resize hovers do nothing, but the double-click full size|restore/middle and right click the maximize gadget to horizontally|vertically maximize do work. Further, the window management shortcuts to move windows do nothing. If I turn off Desktop Cube/Cube Rotation and go back to Wall/Expo, I still can't move windows using any of the methods mentioned in my previous update.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro 6.2. The touchpad works well, but I miss two things from OSX:
- Pressing the touchpad with one finger, then using another one to move windows around. Now I have to click with one finger, and drag with the same one.
- Four finger swipe for expos.
I just installed 11.04 and I'm trying to set up dual monitors. I've installed the nvidia drivers and set the monitors to separate xscreen mode. It works fine, the mouse cursor moves freely between monitors, but when I try to drag windows over, it just wants to resize them to half screen. I've tried disabling grid in ccsm, and it stops the resizing thing, but I still can't drag the windows across.

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 with Cairo-Dock and having a problem with the GMenu add on. I have GMenu set to show the application Icons, but that feature does not work. GMenu is coming up with a list of my applications without the Icons. Any suggestion on how to fix that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to add the me menu to the cairo dock or is it something that I would have to wait for an applet to be made to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn cairo-dock when I hover over the 'shortcuts' applet it shows me what's in my 'places' menu, but I have to click twice on any object to open it, and then it opens two instances of whatever I opened. As in I click once, could wait up to an hour probably, then click again and finally it opens up but twice.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with Cairo dock always showing below other windows. I have tried launching it with cairo-dock --keep-above and cairo-dock -a but to I have had no success. Even editing the settings from the configure to be "always on top" does not work.It was working before where it would appear above when I put the cursor at the bottom of the screen, but it isn't anymore, for whatever reason.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to see the labels above the icons in the dock when I hover over them. For some reason I can't see them now. I think I may have turned something off in the Cairo Dock settings and can't remember where to implement this functionality again.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have just installed cairodock and configured my first panel on the left side of the desktop. now i would like to have a second panel on teh bottom of the desktop for system tray icons. but i cant find teh option to have 2 panels. how do i do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bring up Ubuntu 10.10 today and cairo-dock is all messed up. There is only a box on the left end of where it used to appear at the bottom of my desktop. There is no icons and no ability to do anything with it. It was perfectly fine yesterday, which is what I do not understand.
I installed some gstreamer updates, but that was after it was messed up and the updates didn't change anything.I am using the latest version of nVidia driver 260.19.29At first I tried purging compiz, cairo-dock and all the plugins, extras, etc, CCSM as well as Simple CCSM. Then I reinstalled everything fresh and nothing changed.I even tried removing the kernel 2.6.35-24-generic and reinstalling it and still no bueno!
When I try to even open Simple CCSM via System > Preferences, the cursor indicates activity for a while and then nothing.Right clicking on the desktop and attempting to change visual effects to any thing but None yields some weird stuff and then a message "Desktop effects could not be enabled".
Like I said it was fine yesterday and has been fine since installation until today. It cannot be the video driver or any of the obvious solutions as I have had this driver for quite a while and everything was perfect until now.And please don't say try Docky or AWN. Been there and done that and I prefer Cairo-dock open GL.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe GUI on nautilus is painfully slow to work with. Every time I drag and drop a file I have to wait for the nautilus to slowly shade the whole file window . . . . . . . before it stops and lets me drop the file. I searched for a way to turn off this "animation", but found nothing.
I've tried pcman, but it wouldn't open my files. Thunar insists on copying files instead of just moving them.
Just installed most recent 64-bit Lucid RC last night and after fiddling around through Compiz, I cannot figure out how to drag an open program over to the next desktop workspace.
I use 4-workspaces (4x1) and while running 9.10, I could grab the title bar of an open program and drag it from workspace 1 to 2 or 3.
Now I can right click the title bar then move to another workspace or drag the program halfway into the next work space '2', then click over to workspace '2' and complete the move. But I would like to be able to completely drag it over again.
How is this accomplished?
