To me the syntax is correct. It complains with error 1327 'Undeclared variable: temp_sales'. What I don't understand is why I would need to declare a temporary table's name as a variable. Am I missing something here?

I'm pretty sure the database is stored somewhere, but how can I find it and back it up?

Jun 7, 2011I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

Fedora :: Where Are Stored PWs For Remote Desktop Viewer Stored?
Oct 20, 2010I have machine that I used to VNC to on my network with Remote Desktop Viewer from my Fedora 12. When I first connected I checked the checkbox that I wanted to store the pw. Now the pw on the other machine has changed but Remote Desktop Viewer does not ask for a new password, it just gives me a black screen, like I am connected but I can't see anything. I'd like to know if anyone knows where this pw data is stored on the system so I can start fresh. I already tried uninstalling Remote Desktop Viewer and installing it again.

Feb 22, 2011I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-

May 8, 2010Since upgrading to Lucid, I am getting the following dialog warning on login: 'Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors X Server does not support size requested' Im using the current proprietary NVIDIA graphics driver with dual heads. My display is fine, but the warning every time I login is annoying. After googling around I found this thread: [URL]. I tried going to Monitor Preferences as suggested. My resolution as displayed in the default tool is set to 3840 x 1200, which I suspect is the issue forcing the dialog, but I cant change the resolution, refresh rate or rotation from the Monitor Preference dialog box. dino99's response (in the referenced post) about xorg.conf not being needed anymore seems relevant. How can I resolve this issue and get rid of this annoying warning? Is there a configuration that I can update with a supported resolution to placate lucid?

Nov 10, 2010I installed mysql on FC14, but can't successfully create a new user. It lets me go through all the steps without complaint, but then I can't log into mysql as the new user.
Here's what I did.
1) yum install mysql mysql-server
2) service mysqld start ##sets up mysql
3) mysqladmin -u root password myownsecrectpass ##create a root password
3b) mysql -uroot -p; #log in as root, this works fine
4) CREATE DATABASE webdb;
5) CREATE USER 'anewuser'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password123'; ##create anewuser with a passwd
6) GRANT ALL ON webdb.* TO anewuser@'%';
7) FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
Then I log out of mysql as root and try to log in like this
mysql -uanewuser -p
I enter the password and get this error:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

Aug 11, 2011i'm trying to create a database with the mysql that came with the suse installation, my problem is that i can't get mysqladmin to work it spits out this: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! So I'm stuck at square one php info() seems ok with the installation and the installed client connects to my remote DB ok. I checked the server with ps -ef | grep mysqld and I get the following:
