The problem does occur with both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04. Whenever I watch a movie on Megavideo that uses flash, my computer runs so hot I can barely hold it and the video gets really choppy. View 4 Replies View RelatedI had good working installation of Fedora 12 x86_64 on my desktop, but few days ago, during watch movie in mplayer, sound disappeared. Till today i can't figure out, what happened - no errors displayed, no changes in configuration and no sound (both KDE and Gnome).
I checked soundcard in ubuntu live cd and it works fine. Also on login screen in my current Fedora 12 "beep" plays when i choose user, but after this i have no sounds.
I have up to date system, pulseaudio installed (i tried to remove it, but with no effect - without it also no sound).
Strange thing is, that sound disappeared during normal work, not after update or install anything.
My son would like to know why he can't install and use Shockwave flash on this computer which is running Ubuntu 10.10? I didn't have an explanation why it won't work in Linux yet.....Can someone shed light on this for me please? I think he just wants to play a few simple games on the miniclip website that require shockwave He now says he wants windows back and I want to avert thoughts of going back to those dreadful days.. Is there a way to install it using wine? I don't have a need for wine but I'm sure I could figure it out if its been done before..

The disk will not start up, if I restart and try to boot from load i just sits there and says boot from cd. The disk drive plays music cd's fine, so i dont really know what the issue is.
I dont know that much aboutut ubuntu. a tech friend put it on hard drive he gave me after mine crashed. also i should ad that i took the disk to someone else's house that haswidnows installed and the disk worked just fine, so its not a disk problem
I've been trying to find a way to watch videos from my main desktop computer on another computer I've plugged into an HDTV. I'm such a Linux newbie that I decided to give Mythbuntu a try. It was way to complicated for what I needed, and I'm sure that some more experienced people reading my first two sentences laughed to themselves at my naivety.
What I am trying to find is simple: browsing one computer's home folder from another computer, and playing the videos therein. If there's anything like Mythvideo that requires less than half of the skill requirements, I will telepathically send love to the person that informs me of it.

I followed this guide to install the drivers: [URL] It seems to have installed alright I cannot tell if it worked. I am not using MythTV, nor am I interested in MythTV. I just want a simple application to watch ATSC channels. Me-TV seems like an application that fits the bill. It says there are no digital tuners detected though. I don't know if the drivers did not install or if the card isn't supported by the application.

I'm learning a foreign language. There are several online sites that have Flash video in the language I'm learning (e.g., Hulu), which is great. Unfortunately, they have English subtitles, which is (depending on who you ask) somewhere between "annoying" and "actively harmful to my learning".When I'm watching them in a window, I can just move them near the bottom of the screen, or put another window over them. That's awkward, but it kind of works.But I'd like to watch them full-screen, on my TV set. In Iceweasel under add-ons, it says that I have the newest (10.0 r42) version. The old one (9.0 r124) is still listed. It is listed as disabled, white version 10 is listed as enabled. I still can't watch movies on Hulu.

View 8 Replies View Relatedafter totem is done playing a movie from my external harddrive ( usb 2.0 750 gb Western Digital HDD) the computer screen will go blank but the computer will not suspend or hibernate. I have gnome-power-manager to go to suspend after 30 min of inactivity. I will usually fall asleep during the movie and the laptop will remain on. I will wake up to find the laptop on for the whole night and that it didn't go to sleep or suspend power after the movie stopped. Note ** I have already tried reinstalling gnome-power-manager & totem ... Also have turned on and off Dbus plugin, and totem is not set to always on top.

I then tried to enter sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree and that also did not work, it just showed this.

when I watch Flash based video, more and more of my memory is eaten up until nothing is left and the system crashes. I don't see anything in the logs so I don't know where to start.
This ONLY happens with Flash.
