Whenever I do sudo apt-get or use the Ubuntu Software Center, I can't download anything because a message comes up saying "Action requires installation of untrusted packages: The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources." I've been trying to download GIMP and Thunderbird, so... I dunno what the problem is.
I'm trying to use my update manager, and I keep getting an error box that says "Requires Installation of untrusted packages. The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources" When I push the "Details" Button a text box appears and inside it says "libv4l-0."
whatever i try to install through the Ubuntu Software Center or through synaptic i get an error "Requires installation of untrusted packages" and it says "The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources." what am i doing wrong or what settings am i supposed to change?
when I try to install anything using the Ubuntu software centre, I get the following message Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.
I just want to install software from ubuntu software center, but when i click install, the error occur. the error message is : " Requires installation of untrusted packages, The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources."
A few weeks ago, i installed Ubuntu Desktop 10.10. I installed several of my previously used programs and am now having trouble with the update manager. It refuses to download updates; insisting that it does not trust the source. The details in the error message indicate that the problem is with a package for Banshee Media Player. I am posting a link for a video I made that displays this problem. [URL]
while trying to install many applications from the "Ubuntu Software Centre", it gives an error named "Requires installation of untrusted packages" and quits installation... But, I want to install applications from the Software Centre.
i'm getting an error when trying to run my update manager. i had been having a problem updating my opera, but just today my current package isn't downloading. the error i am getting is:
"Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources." the detail info is:
i tried to just ignore that, so i unclicked it (just wasn't interested in dealing with it right away), and go on {this is how i had been ignoring the same error on my opera update for a week or so} --- and so when i tried going on, i got same above error except with this detail:
"empathy empathy-common icedtea-6-jre-cacao icedtea6-plugin libc-bin libc-dev-bin libc6 libc6-dev libnautilus-extension1 nautilus nautilus-data nautilus-sendto-empathy openjdk-6-jre openjdk-6-jre-headless openjdk-6-jre-lib opera ubuntu-docs upstart" ps- i am a pseudo novice who is trying to learn how to use the terminal, so if it's not too much of a pain, i like terminal directions,
I have a lenova B450, installed ubuntu 10.04 netbook remix(dual boot with win xp), everything works fine, even installed some games through ubuntu software center. I tried to install cd burning software, i received the following message. Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources. Even after i gave OK there was no response. Now when i tried to install games also same message & no response.
i am a relativelly new user of ubuntu, i have a ubuntu 9 ( i think) on a aone.i am not in the fan club of last updaters, if it works, it's ok.when i try to install (from software center) some softwares, it gives me an error, untrusted packages.i feel it is something like an abuse, at least, bring to the user the possibility to install "untrusted packages" with a button. AT LEAST!because i think it is not normal to don't be able o install blender, remember ubuntu is a linux, then blender should work on.i tested to install many mounth ago, when i i stalled the last version (9.xxx), and it did the same, then i think it is not an update problem at all.
i just installed filelight and was surprised it requires so many packages. It is not at all evident to me why filelight would require phonon or libaudio. About all the other packages I am not sure at all, but it seems such a simple utility ... This is 10.04.1
I am trying to install a piece of software that requires a specific versions of several packages. I am using Scientific Linux 5.5 and yum for managing the apps. The problem is that I need, for example ruby >= 1.8.7, but the package for ruby that is the official repositories for SL 5.5 is 1.8.5 and therefore yum says it's up to date.
There are other repositories for SL 6.0 that have ruby-1.8.7. Initially I ignored the fact that they are not for 5.5 and tried to install it manually with rpm. But there was an increasing number of data dependencies for the packages so I gave up. What can I do to avoid this? I suppose installing packages for newer OS version should be ok and they will be compatible with other older libs. But do you really install packages in this manner?
I have just recently installed ubuntu on a new (new to me at least) machine and am have some trouble installing common programs from the USC. Like Amarok, BlueFish.. ect. Pretty much everything I have tried says it requires download from untrustworthy source. All installed fine on my laptop. I am running natty narwahl on this computer and 10.10 on my laptop.
I'd like to update /etc/apt/sources.list with all the packages available on packages.debian.org and packages.ubuntu.com without apt-get, aptitude, and synaptic then trashing my system by trying to update all the obsolete packages. (I'm stuck with 8.04) I only want to update the packages / install new ones with their dependencies as I request them. How do I do that?
I am new to Debian (just used Gentoo until now), I run a little server for our company and clients. Unfortunately our hosting company switched us from a Gentoo system to a Debian Lenny box with Confixx and stopped maintaining it. So I will need to do the house keeping, which worries me a bit. Today I started and ran: aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade and got a huge list with packages to upgrade. Unfortunately, I am not confident, if I will break something upgrading (Confixx, apache) as I get the following warning message:
WARNING: untrusted versions of the following packages will be installed! Untrusted packages could compromise your system's security. You should only proceed with the installation if you are certain that this is what you want to do. mysql-client mysql-server-5.1 mysql-client-5.1 mysql-common mysql-server-core-5.1 mysql-server libmysqlclient16 Do you want to ignore this warning and proceed anyway? Is it safe to ignore it and upgrade the needed packages?
I have this in sources.list: I ran the command to add the key before I tried to install. ## Opera web browser: #wget -O - [URL | apt-key add - deb [URL]
I get this warning when I agree to install Opera: Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?] y WARNING: untrusted versions of the following packages will be installed!

I'm doing a fully automated install of Etch, installing the standard system task. I'm using PXE boot with a preseed file.
I do this a lot, and I've not had problems before. This morning, it's stuck at 5% on "Select and install software" saying "Please wait...". The log on console #4 says:
WARNING: untrusted versions of the following packages will be installed!

Do you want to ignore this warning and proceed anyway?
I installed a system yesterday without any problems, so I wonder if there's a recent problem with the mirrors I'm using. My /target/etc/apt/sources.list contains:
deb [url] deb [url]
So it looks like either the UK mirror or security.debian.org.
I just installed ubuntu 10.10, and im triying to update, when i uncheck the packages that i dont want and click on the "install updates" button in the update manager, the update manager check it again and download the packages that i dont want
When booting from the Ubuntu 11.04 CD, it asks for user name and password to install. I downloaded the iso twice and did a checksum. Do I need a user name and password before installing? What is the user name and password? I read the documentation and cannot find any entry about user name and password needed when booting fron CD.
I need to substitute the openssl package modified by ubuntu with the original openssl package because I have to collaborate to a university project that use SSLv2 protocol.I tried to install it manually (by ./config and make) but nowaday the system continues to use the old one (0.98o-5ubuntu1).What i have to do to substitute the modified version with the original one?
I have managed to fix the problem where Ubuntu did not recognize my admin password, but now I have another problem.I tried to install an application from the Ubuntu Software Center.I entered my admin password, when I was asked to do it.Then,I got this message: ''Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.''
And I am not allowed to install the program. It happens regardless of the app I'm going to install-thus I can't install anything! I use Ubuntu 10.10.
I've been kind of spoiled by Slackware, where updating an installation without networking is just a matter of storing all the updated packages somewhere (directory, CD, USB, etc.) and doing a: Code: upgradepkg *.tgz I'm trying to figure out how to achieve similar simplicity on Ubuntu (specifically, Ubuntu 8.10). I know how to update the packages on the live CD itself (and have done it several times), but in this particular case I need to install using the unedited, official CD.
I'm currently looking at this (and will set up a VirtualBox image to try it out), but it seems to me like the actual packages are never even mentioned in the article, only the meta-data. I need to be able to do an apt-get update/upgrade on this box and have it use the updated packages which I will have stored on a mounted filesystem.
I just switched over from Ubuntu to Fedora 12 (KDE) and am having a problem with installing packages and updating my system.
When I use KPackageKit to update my system, I get this error:
Code: Error Type: Error Value: Error getting repository data for installed, repository not found File : /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/yum/yumBackend.py, line 3125, in main()

I can't seem to figure out what's going on here. Whenever I use synaptic to attempt to add/remove anything I receive the following error: (Reading database... 65%dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting: files list file for package 'dnsmasq-base' is missing final newline E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2) A package failed to install.
