I have recently got the Linux bible 2010 and it came with a cd and dvd containing multiple distro's of linux. I have tried them all with the same problem. Everything until the actual GUI desktop shows up from the live disks as well as an actual debian install, when I get to the desktop however out of range shows up. I have a video card hooked up, figured that might be the problem, it was not. I tried the on-board video and it also did the same thing. I also tried a different monitor, which did not work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 10.04 and WINE 1.2. WineHQ APPDB states that Rosetta Stone is not installable. I have installed it, so the information there is not correct/complete. When I installed, it ran perfectly. I created an ISO of the install disc and the first lesson. I then loop mounted each of them in turn for them to run and assigned each of them a windows directory, configuring them as CD-ROM. This worked perfectly the first day. Now it no longer works with the ISO or with the original disc. I have run the program in terminal and received the following output:

I have seen similar outputs on the forums, but nothing that included that AUDIO ERROR. This seems to be an issue of time. If I don't do anything, the program will crash giving me error 5118. If I run through lesson select and mic testing quickly then I can get all the way to the lesson before it crashes with the same error.
I'm running Debian Lenny on my trusty old Thinkpad T41 laptop. Everything is running great with only one issue I can't seem to resolve. Under Gnome, the package manager will state that there are updates available. When I run the package manager to install the updates, none are listed. From the console, when I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, it states that there are 0 packages available. I have no idea why this is happening. I'm not receiving any error messages and none of the sources are giving errors.

The computer will not allow me to do an internal recovery so I ordered a recovery download on line and burned to a disc. when I put the disc in the graphics came up and in started in Live-mode but then the error mess came: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libpci.so.3: cannot read file data: input/output error. The site said it was an ISO file but then it had a program it had me run to change it and burn the disc.

I have some feeling that its because the program has no access to the memory containing the shellcode (May be???)..
i have two doubts
1) i downloaded the latest linux kernel in hope that i will find the codes for the operating system the os but i cant locate any.so can any0ne tell me from where can i find what i am looking for?
2) c language used in the package i downloaded is though very close to the c i studied but there are places where it becomes tough for to comprehend the real significance of the lines. eg i never knew rhere is Display() a pre-defined function but i saw it somewhere as predefined.

View 14 Replies View RelatedThese problems just started the last couple of days but I have been using Lucid 10.04 for a month now. My wireless Signal varies in strength wildly. I sitting at home, not 20 feet from my router. I never had these problems before Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04. I am running both Network Manager and Wicd.
Errors:
1. Wicd states "Wrong Password" which is not true.
2. Dropping off-line for no reason, sometimes 3 or 4 times a minute and sometimes it works fine for hours.
