i am unable to print specific pages in Ubuntu. i connected my HP Desk jet F2120 printer to my Ubuntu machine and it installed correctly but now if i want to print only the certain pages from a word document or PDFs i am unable to print it. there is a option of pages in print menu which says : " example 1-3,7,11" i don't know what that means.
View 2 RepliesI am able to print from Open Office just fine, but if I attempt to print a PDF or if I attempt to print directly from the internet, I get nothing!So instead I have to open the openoffice and copy the internet stuff to a page in there so it will print.Do any of you have an idea of what can be the cause.I am a linux noobie, so I may be the problem, however it is frustrating putting PDF's on flash drive and getting my son to bring his windoze laptop in so that I can print my PDF.

For example, using Firefox on Linux one can print a web page such that each sheet of paper has four pages printed upon it. I would like to combine several separate web pages so that for example, web-page-a, web-page-b and web-page-c (each less than one print page long) are printed on a single sheet of paper.
I would like to do this without having to use some form of image editor to combine and manage manually created temporary files.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAre there any reliable ways to print libreoffice or openoffice drawings to multiple pages. I have two drawings I designed for 11" x 22" sheets, and I'd like to print one of them to 4x or at most 6x 8 1/2" x 11" sheets, without reduction.
So far, when I've tried this using "print to multiple sheets," the results have been erratic, and have basically wasted paper and ink with no usable results.
I can't even preview this.
I am using the old trick of creating a duplicate file, and creating for duplicate slides within it, making each slide one group, and using the alignment settings to make each slide match one corner of the original image. It works, but it is kinda clunky.
i have an Brother HL-2040 and normaly all pages print fine. But i noticed that some pages from pdf file won't print.The driver says it failed.Can that be, that my driver has some problems? I tried others but they don't print anything.I have the current opensuse 11.2 version and the latest cups version.

It is wide enough for 1 page but the height should fit on about 5 pages.

I've been trying to install Ubuntu Server on an old server since a couple of days and have been unsuccessful. I've google'd a bit but found no solid solution yet to this problem. Everything goes fine and I'm able to partition my SCSI drives and everything. After the installation starts unpacking and copying files this happens. I have to mention that I'm installing from a USB drive with the following added at the end of the normal install options:

I can't seem to fire up any web pages but I can do everything else on my ubuntu box. This seems to have started within the past day or so. My /etc/reslov.conf file looks solid.Again, I can ssh, vnc and ping to the outside but just can't load any web pages.

I have configured and installed as per directions successfully, but I am unable to view PHP or HTML webpages. Seems like I am missing some small thing.

When, I am trying to view file in Mozilla or IE, it is prompting me to "save to disk" or "open with" options.
I have a Cent OS 5.4 32 bit final installed in my dedicated server.
I used to run lighttpd with php in my server until now and all was fine.But yesterday I changed my website which needs apache to run. So installed apache using yum install httpd command.
Then I added the virtual host name of my domain in webmin panel but when i try to run my php script in browser then its not opening php pages.
Instead it downloads php files like index.php when i open in browser.So I guess apache is not able to compile and run php pages. Only html pages are opening right now..
when i input man <cmd>.....it's saying formatting pages....n then it is displaying blank page.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a brand new Brother printer MFC-250C which includes a fax/copier/scanner but mostly its for printing photos however Ubunto 10.4 does not recognize this model! (it works perfectly over on my other partition with windows7 using the setup disk for Brother). I have installed everything related to Brother from Synaptic and searched the Brother web site for any drivers relating to this model and have even tried installing from Synaptic MFC-240C drivers in case they may work (no 250c available in synaptic) selecting PRINT for instance in Fspot my printer receives information for the photo but does not commence printing ..the same applies working in Gimp Gutenprint.

I can print just fine from my dual-booted Windows 7 installation. Thunderbird seems to always print OK, OpenOffice writer prints sometimes, other programs don't print at all or are inconsistent.

When I go to System Admin/Printing to add my printers, screen says I am not connected to localhost and I am unable to use Add printer. When I used version 9.10, I added a network + a local printer by this method but I'm not sure what I have done wrong this time around.
I live in Japan and am trying to print to a network printer (Richo Ipsio C411 PS). Couldn't find the ppd in the foomatic database. At my previous school, I had no problems printing to the printers on the network once I found the ppd. A few months ago, I transfered to a new site. Unfortunately, when I send a print job on the network here, the printer just gives a Japanese message that says "command error." I've tried other printers on the network (all different models of the Ipsio).
I went to the Japanese Ricoh website and it recommended a generic printer ppd. I downloaded that, but it didn't work. Then I got the ppd off of the windows driver CD and tried that. Again, no success. I have no idea what I'm doing (obvious, but should be noted) or how to get this started. I also tried 2 versions of Ubuntu -- I'm running 8.04 and 10.04.
Attached are copies of the ppd files if it helps.
I am unable to print from Wine applications (including Notepad) because Wine thinks I have no printers installed. This is very old, and probably very out of date. I also had trouble following the examples. In any case I don't have anything called winerc or wine.conf. I just have a .wine directory.
Supposedly I should have registry keys for printers in Wine, so I looked where those are supposed to be. I have two keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetContro lPrintPrinters: (Default) and DefaultSpoolDirectory. Perhaps if I added the right key here I could get Wine to notice CUPS? I wouldn't begin to know what to put though.

It also says that if it doesn't work with CUPS it falls back to look in /etc/printcap. I have one of those, but it doesn't contain anything except the default comment telling me not to edit the file. Maybe if there's a way to regenerate /etc/printcap to contain the printers that show up in KDE, Wine would notice. Again, I have no clue how to do that.
I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 x64, and I'm using Wine 1.2, not Wine 1.0. All my packages are completely up to date.
I am unable to print on my Brother mcf 440cn printer. Every thing was working ok, today I finished some work in Open Office and could not print the saved file. I get an error unable to print msg. my printer is no longer recognized on the system. I reinstalled the driver no luck. I tested the printer with Windooze and every thing works fine
