I am able to access phpmyadmin via my web browser using either my local ip followed by /phpmyadmin and by using the same layout with localhost. If i use my DNS name provided by no-ip which i bound to in apache2 i am able to get to the "It works!" page with the domain name but if i use /phpmyadmin after it, it will tell me that there is no such directory.

I'm setting up a home web server using LAMP that I want to use to access files and practice coding, but I am very new to Linux and web servers. I currently have it so I can access phpMyAdmin and the test pages locally through my internal IP, but whenever I try to access it through the external IP I get this router management console that I don't know the password or username to. I know my router login and password and it's not the same as that. I've forwarded port 80 and when that didn't work I tried changing /etc/apache2/ports.conf to 8080 and I forwarded that port on my router with no luck too.
It doesn't seem to matter if I have any ports forwarded, though, it still brings me to the same screen regardless. Also, I have set up a static IP on the server by modifying the /etc/network/interfaces file. I've attached a screenshot with the actual router management console screen. I won't have access to the server until later, but, if you require any output from the server I will be sure to post it as soon as I get home. I'm not using ubuntu for my webserver, but debian instead because ubuntu server had a whole bunch of problems with my PCMCIA network card. Ubuntu suggestions should work just fine, but I just thought I should clarify.

I installed ubuntuserver edition 10.10 on my old p3.Installation went fine and i installed LAMP and SSH along with it.*everyhting i do past this point is via LAN on my laptop using root account on putty or winSCP.*I installed phpmyadmin, loged in with root, duplicated the root acount and gave the duplicate any host (%) access. Next i created an account with access only to the users database (for use in my php to check username and password).Next thing i did was change the apache2 config 000-default to disable indexing.After that i changed the php.ini file to allow 6GB uploads (for movies).Rebooted... and thats where the problems start.I CANT:Acces phpmyadmin with any acount.Login on my website.I CAN:login to mysql using root.I HAVE:Checked if the mysql database and table for websitelogin still existed, they do.Checked mysql useracounts and they are still there.So something changed after the reboot, because it was working fine before i did.

One server is a dedicated MySQL server. After upgrading that one to Ubuntu 10.04 (from an ancient Suse 9.2), both servers are running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.I have another server that I use to administer the database server via phpMyAdmin. However since the upgrade it is not able to connect. I get an error #1130 Cannot log in to the MySQL server. The same happens if I try to connect remotely from the command line with: mysql -u root -h 129.79.137.121 -pI'm not sure if this is an iptables/ports problem or a configuration problem on the MySQL end or something else entirely.I've searched and tried the suggestions I've found in various places but none seems to have fixed it.

I am very new to Ubuntu (any Linux) evironment. And it has been a long long time since I have dealt with seting up servers. I have done alot of searching but haven't found exactly what I THINK I am looking for.
I want to create a file server (I have created my Ubuntu server cd) and add it to my home network (all windows pcs). I need to be able to access it when away from home ( I work away from home mostly). I will be accessing this with a Windows 7 laptop.
What do I need installed on the server? Samba for the file server part. What else for the remote access? I also would rather not access the data via FTP. I would like it to come up as a drive in my Windows Explorer. If not, I remember back in college (20 years ago) when I could open a little window (XWindow maybe) on the other server.
An issue I see that might not be an issue. I have a static IP from my ISP. It comes into my home via their modem. I attach to the modem with a router. All my laptops connect to it wireless and this server will be wired. How do I hit the server and not one of the laptops with only having the one IP address? Each of these plus my external harddrive and printer have their own internal IP address' that I have assigned.

I have setup a web server, ftp, ssh with ubuntu server which is working with phpmyadmin and webmin installed with it as well. (I am considering upgrading to 10.04LTS when it comes out)
However I cant get to my website with the domain name that I am using from dyndns. From on my LAN I can get to my server but using it ip address (10.10.0.200) and it work fine with ssh and ftp as well. But when I try my public address or my name it does not work. I am using IE8 as I am using a windows machine. Out side the network the domain name wont work at all, but I tried my public address and everything worked perfectly.
I have recently installed ddclient to see if had made any difference but no luck. But I am keeping it there as it is working and updating my ip address.

How should I set up my webserver when using dyndns?My server lives behind a private router, and I opened a nonstandard port for it (xxx.dyndns.org:6789)I need to be able to access the webserver both from behind the router, and from outside. But espescially wordpress needs to have a defined specific site-url for each site, which I can not get working both inside and outside the router. Inside I now just just the local ip-number, which works ok. To access the server from outside, I have to redefine the site-url to "xxx.dyndns.org:6789", but then it is not accessible from behind the router.

I can not access my MySQL database from any remote host on my home network, I keep getting "Access denied for user 'dbuser'@'192.168.1.10' (using password: YES)"
From what I've read this seems to be a permission problem, I tried
'dbuser'@localhost';
'dbuser'@'%';
'dbuser'@'192.168.1.10';
and between each change of permission, I've flushed privileges.

I do not know a lot about Ubuntu Servers, but I made one. I wanted to set up a web server using Apache and DynDNS. So far, I have created an account on dyndns.com and installed apache. I also installed another program (i dont remember the name) that had something to do with DynDNS. Right now, I can access the page on my server by using eLinks (text based web browser) and going to the address (myaddress.dyndns.org). If I try to access it from any other computer, I get a page that says 'Unable to Connect'.

I recently configured a server that I would like to access remotely. I want to start x through ssh and then log in through vnc, but I get prompted to type in my password in gnome before I have a change to login. Which is a problem because you need to be at the box to enter the password. Is there a way to authenticate this through ssh or give vnc automatic keychain access?

I am a novice in the world of cloud and recently managed to configure Ubuntu 9.04 Cloud (using kvm, eucalyptus and other packages) successfully at my college for my project work. The problem is that i can only manage to view the running instance using rdesktop from any remote machine. Is there any way to do this other than rdesktop/logs? Secondly, I want to develop a application on the lines of google docs as a part of my project. Is it possible to install apache server on this virtual instance, and host a website? How will the client access this website? Which frameworks would be required or do I have to develop one?

I have an Ubuntu Server, a dyndns account and an account with [URL]. My DynDns stuff is all working just great - novo.dyndns.tv is the address. Now I need a domain which I have already bought, to be linked to that machine at [URL] I signed up with freedns.afraid.org and now I am a bit confused at what records to add where. I added a domain - [URL] then setup a webforward as follows: redirect from [URL] and redirect from[URL] to [URL] , however if you go and visit:[URL] you will see my problem! It takes you back to [URL] server and says there is not a webforward setup for [URL]This tells us that the nameservers are all setup fine - and its something in my freedns config which is failing.

A week ago or so neither ssh nor scp were working when attempting to connect to my on-campus computer from home. ssh was complainig about the key not matching and I figured out I could just delete the config file it was reading the (now old) key from and let it create a new one with the updated key upon prompting me whether or not to trust the remote host.
However, even though ssh is now working, I can no longer use scp. I issued scp -v and discovered a bunch of errors. scp prompts me for the remote password and even prints the message of the day on the remote computer but then just hangs and doesn't seem to be copying any files. I'm sure the issue is with the whole key change issue but I can't quite figure out why ssh would be working just fine and scp would be failing.

I have recently developed the need for having a file server and am interested in setting up my desktop as a Samba File Server. The problem is that I need to be able to access it from outside networks (physically I'm about 10 miles away from my home network),o I need to also set up some sort of DynDNS service so that I can access the server from anywhere.With this, with setting up a DynDNS, setting up Samba, and setting up my machine to be secure enough for these types of actions. (I just want to make sure it is secure enough since it will need to be detectable from the internet.)

I've just reinstalled XAMPP in my machine. Now, I can't get phpmyadmin to work. Before this was okay. But since I lost its password I need to reinstall it again. Now I got it reinstalled, another problem occured. When I enter localhost/phpmyadmin in my browser, it tells me to open the file with a program which is obviously something must be wrong during the installation or the system is screwed. Here's the screenshot:
Another problem is I can't get Apache and MySQL to run using the XAMPP wizard. But by using shell I can get it worked, but when I see the wizard, it just says stopped. What's wrong? Although I have pressed Execute it still can't be run.
From terminal:
Code:
me@me-laptop:~$ sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start
[sudo] password for me:
Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.7.4...
XAMPP: Another web server daemon is already running.
XAMPP: Another MySQL daemon is already running.
XAMPP: XAMPP-ProFTPD is already running.
XAMPP for Linux started.

Have basic LAMP setup on 9.10 box. I want to have a publicly accessible website AND I want to have phpmyadmin available. The only thing is I would rather not have the phpmyadmin interface available on the internet. I usually open a ssh port forwarded tunnel when I need to use phpmyadmin on this server. I want to add a directive to make phpmyadmin bind only on localhost. I have found the phpmyadmin config file in /etc/apache2/conf.d
phpmyadmin.conf -> ../../phpmyadmin/apache.conf
I have tried adding some LISTEN directives, but apache does not like my directives-- I am obviously not doing it right. I have looked for a bit on the internet and can't find out how to disable external access to a configured site in Apache.

I am trying to install mcrypt for use in phpMyAdmin but am having some trouble. I apt-get'd the mcrypt-php5 package and it installed, but it seems to only function on the Apache Module version of php5 and not the CGI version. Both versions show the mcrypt extension installed in phpinfo, but in phpMyAdmin only one of them removes the error about mcrypt. Other extensions (such as cURL) which I installed with apt-get have worked, so I'm not sure why this one does not.
EDIT: I also compared the CGI php.ini and the apache2 php.ini and there were no differences there. I also confirmed that the php.ini file for the CGI version is loading from that location.

Several vhosts I sat up are running fine and I can also connect to the MySQL server using the mysql command-line client. I now want to setup PhpMyAdmin to allow the vhosts owners to administrate their DBs. I installed the package using:
Code:
apt-get install phpmyadmin I answered the questions and accepted the creation of the phpmyadmin database. The install finished successfully. I did a small modification to the main website vhost to access it easily:
Code:
Alias /phpmyadmin /usr/share/phpmyadmin
