Pitivi crashes when I import a video to the timeline, tried with diferent formats and mp4 mostly, it's also not that good... I needed to do some things that I used to do with Vegas but with any success. Cinelerra looks like crap and prompts a lot of errors I need a really GOOD video editting tool.
View 3 RepliesThis was an ia32libs problem, now fixed in latest updates. I tried to remove and purge and reinstall through terminal. No success. PITIVI is installed but when I click on the launcher in the applications menu nothing happens.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04, and usually I record my desktop with the program "Record my Desktop", the format of the video is: .ogg, when I had Ubuntu Karmic Koala, I recorded my screen then in kdenlive added audio and effects and all's right, but now i update to Lucid Lynx, and trying to edit my video in Kdenlive and I obtain this screen(I attached my screen), I noticed that the new video that I record after the upgrade of Ubuntu, I can't view the preview with Kdenlive, but with the old record, I can view the preview. And also i noticed that with pitivi, the new program to edit videos of Lucid Lynx, works fine, with new and old recordings, don't have problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI made a video with PiTiVi and rendered it in quicktime format and then went and played it on a Mac and the color was all green and really messed up. I rendered the same video in asf format and went and played it on a Windows computer at it was the same way.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am trying to export a video from pitivi in a format that can be uploaded to videos. i found this thread which suggests using an flv muxer with the l.a.m.e. mp3 encoder. my problem is that my pitivi doesn't list lame as an option, and i haven't been able to get it in.
i have tried reinstalling lame from the repositories, and also building lame, ffmpeg, gstreamer, faac, x264 and pitivi from the latest source. i simply can't get a video format to export that works in videos. mp4 and other format exports don't seem to work at all, they get stuck on the first frame.
pitivi can export ogg video perfectly, however if i try to upload that to videos it comes out with bad video. i've tried converting the ogg video to avi with mencoder, but it drops a lot of frames and ends up with the audio badly out of sync. i've run out of ideas to try -- anyone been through this before, or know of something i may be doing wrong? i'm certainly no expert in building from source (or anything!), it just seemed like something to try...
I can't for the life of me find the option to encode my video in H264 in Pitivi. There's just about every other codec imaginable in the list. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit and everything is up to date.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a video edited in Pitivi. The source files were recorded from a VHS tape, so it's NTSC size (720x480).
Problem is that when I render it the output looks stretched vertically. When I play it in Totem Movie Player, the aspect ratio option can be changed from "Auto" to "4:3 TV" and then it looks correct.
How can I render the output file with a different aspect ratio?
I tried going into Project Settings and adjusting the Video Output height and width, but this doesn't change the aspect ratio. Also tried PAL and VGA instead of NTSC. What should I try next?
Using the version of Pitivi that comes with a fresh install of 10.04 LTS.
I use Scribus for designing leaflets and broshures. Unfortunately with the most recent version in the stable branch the program crashes each time I try to edit text in layout mode. I didn't have this problem in older versions. So I wonder if this is a bug others noticed in Scribus 1.4.4 on Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 32-bit.
For normal text editing I use the text edit mode anyway but when I try to fix line breaks it's always hard to not instantly see what I am doing. So even if I just want to insert a single character the program crashes with the following message: Scribus crashes due to Signal #11
Can someone recommend a very user friendly video editing software? I don't even know where to begin to look for this. I"m not that savvy w/ video at all and need something very simplistic. I just want to upload a video I took on my point and shoot camera to my computer [which i can do] and then add a music track to it and have it fit or at least fade out. And then I want to upload it to the internet [flickr and/or facebook, .....] Movie maker in Windows does that so easily that a five year old can figure it out. I need it that easy.

I've noticed that some of these videos need color correction or sharpening, etc. Most of the linux video editing software out there is just for splicing videos together.Does Linux have any professional grade video editing software? Is there anyway for me to color correct some of these videos using Linux? I've been searching forums trying to find an answer. I like Ubuntu alot and I'm mostly dedicated to free software and I have a bit of a web show. I am thinking of doing a fresh install of Ubuntu and I was wondering what was the best way to get the most out of Ubuntu when it comes to video editing. Ubuntu always seems..... crappy when it comes to video editing, I've heard it's because of the watered down video codecs. But I have updated my ffmpeg and abunch of other stuff but most video editors are still very buggy when it comes to encoding.

Just this past week I got a new computer with an AMD 2.8 GHz quadcore processor and I'm just wondering if with this machine I might be able to run XP in Virtualbox and not set aside an XP partition. With 4 GB of RAM, I should be able to give the Virtualbox adequate memory. Oh, yeah, I have a new 500 GB SATA hard drive, too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI frequent a website features live video streams. Afterwards, they also uploads the videos for playing online. When videos are played Flash files accumulate in /tmp which I save and edit.RECENT PROBLEM:
1) When I play the videos online, they never "start". I just get that typical circling arrow that general indicates the file is downloading to a buffer before playing. but even after 5 minutes...it never starts. While this is happening, a file is accumulating in /tmp.
2) As a test, I tried editing the temp file that appears in /tmp using OpenShot. The file is very large (on the order of 800Mb). But in the editor, only a few seconds of video appear. The rest is a blank white screen. I examined the file in a hex editor and it all "looks" the same (I can't read the Hex of course...but nothing obvious appears like lots of 00 bytes).
I've never done any video editing before and I had some ideas that I wanted to pursue. Being that I've never done it, I don't know what programs are out there.Does anyone have any suggestions of good editing software that is both high functioning and is fairly easy to learn and use?I'm currently running ubuntu 10.04.

My video I want the watermark over is a kino captured file which is dv avi type 2 (open dml).I have done Bluescreen video effect along with the composite transition but the video clip which the video watermark plays on top of ends up getting darker. for the bluescreen color i have chosen red which is the closest red i could pick next to the spinning logo. the lighting changes on it and gives it an undesirable effect as far as how dark it it. i tried other colors but then the logo either disappears or the spinning logos black video background covers up my video. the reason for my "video" watermark is because it is a spinning logo (not a picture) which can be obtained in .mp4 format here:[url]
