I have a lot of avis with annoying metadata that show in vlc. Since I cannot figure out how to configure vlc in a way that it won't show the tags, ffmpeg should strip the tags. This is supposed to do the trick:

I realy don't want to loose all my work! So I need to know if is possible before I change to Linux.
my open office is experiancing some problems. 1.) sometimes when I go to edit a document it freezes for up five minutes before allowing me to continue. 2.) it isn't allowing me to save any new documents or overwrite existing ones. 3.) it's taking an EXTREMELY lone time to load current documents up to an hour or sometimes not at all.
When I try and run gedit command through terminal to edit files it won't open them

I have just installed F11 and want to change Nautilus to default Ubuntu and not open each folder in separate window. But I can't go to Edit/Preferences.Nautilus keeps crashing and I get this report:Quote:
To illustrate what I wish to learn I will begin with a specific example: Open With.jpg Suppose I create an empty file and rename it as 1.torrentRight click on the file and go to the "Open with" tab We find a list of applications to open the said file.
When i open any .pps file with OO.org (impress), it starts a slideshow and it doesn't let me edit the file. If i click on "end slideshow", the program exits.i ran it in a terminal and there's no error messages.[EDITED]Well, i found the answer, just renaming it to ".ppt".
i'm writing on a little script for which i need to read tag from mp3 files. mp3info comes in handy, because you can specify which tag to display, e.g. `mp3info file.mp3 -p %a` gives me the artist th problem is, mp3info can only read v1.x tags but a number of my files contains v2.x tags only. converting the v2.x tags to v1.x tags is not an option, because the files need to remain as they are.
i would change the tag it applies then it reverts i have even edited them with easy tag it appears to keep but rhythmbox does not register the change and it revers if i change it there aside from re-encoding them is there a way to change the tag on them
I am trying to organize some music I just copied off cd to my hard drive. the tracks are not listed (there is no track listing or album title etc) so I go to music-properties and try to fill the stuff in. I can't type into the boxes.
I have a folder that has lots of sample audio files, all in mp3 format. Does anyone know of a way to change artist - album info for all these files in one go. I am wanting to change the artist for all files to myself and album to something like day/date etc.
For example, an mp3 file has all the tags filled - track number, year, genre, etc. But when in Amarok, some tags are not shown to me.Look at the attached screenshot, please. You see, when I look into track properties I can see that it HAS got a track number and a year. But it is not shown in playlist.
You will need "cuetag" for this which is part of the "cuetools" but since you already installed it (see previous seps), all you have to do is open the terminal, navigate to the folder where you just splitted some APE or FLAC files and type this:
cuetag *.cue split-track*.flac ;
(if you didn't change the file's name from split-trackNN.flac). All the split-track*.flac files will have tags in just a few seconds.so i did exactly what i was suppose to do but for some reason is still could not add the tags to my FLAC files..
