Ubuntu Multimedia :: Some Tags Are Not Shown In Amarok

Feb 3, 2010

For example, an mp3 file has all the tags filled - track number, year, genre, etc. But when in Amarok, some tags are not shown to me.Look at the attached screenshot, please. You see, when I look into track properties I can see that it HAS got a track number and a year. But it is not shown in playlist.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Amarok Wont Update Tags For Files In Collection

Feb 9, 2010

I have most of my music on my hard drive in one big "Music" folder, and in Amarok this is seen as the collection. Everything is imported, works fine.

Until i change the ID3 tags of a file/album. Amarok refuses to load the new tags, and keeps displaying the old tags.

I have over 200 GB of music in that folder, some of it is badly tagged. When i realize that, i retag the files with Musicbrainz. And unless i scan the entire collection again, the new tags wont be loaded. Needless to say i can't listen to the respective album/file for hours, as the rescanning of that whole folder takes at least one hour.

Software :: Amarok Editing Single File Tags?

Jun 17, 2010

I just began using amarok as a media player and I have a bunch of untagged files which show up in the local collection as Untitled -> Untitled, but since there are multiple files I can't see what they are, and I can't play them. If I go to edit it, it edits all the untitled files to whatever I set it to, because there's a bunch of untitled files. Is there a way for me to add tags to them in amarok one at a time?

OpenSUSE :: Amarok 2.4 Id3v2.x Tags - Many Songs Missing From Collection

Jan 1, 2011

I am running KDE from the unstable repos and am having an issue with the Amarok included... output of rpm query on amarok

Code:

When I import my music folder into my amarok library I come up ~3000 songs short. When I load the same music folder into songbird 1.4 I am able to see the full library.

There appears to be no rhyme or reason to which songs' ID3 tags are not being read properly by Amarok and therefore are not appearing in my collection. I have tried removing my collection and rescanning, removing and re-installing amarok.. removing all amarok related folders from my .kde folders and reinstalling... yet I am still unable to get my full collection read by Amarok..

Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox Metadata / ID3 Tags - Rights?

Nov 5, 2010

I am on Ubuntu 10.04 using Rhythmbox (0.12. as my favorite music player. Right now I'm cleaning up my music collection. Part of this job is to ID3-tag multiple files (artist, genre, etc.).

On some files this works great, ob others it doesn't and I get a gstreamer error or I cannot even change the current ID3-tags. Regarding the last problem, I assume that the problem might occur because of missing rights to edit ID3-tags.

So my question is: What permissions should I give to my music collection, so Rhythmbox is able to edit the files?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox Time Tags Wrong Using EasyTag?

Jan 31, 2010

I just used EasyTAG 2.1.5 under Ubuntu 9.10 to update the tags on my music files running on Rhythmbox 0.12.5, and now Rhythmbox shows that the runtimes (Time) of dozens of my mp3's are now 27:03:11. That means Rhythmbox thinks all those songs are 27 hours, 3 minutes, and 11 seconds long, which they are not. Some are now shown as 54:06:23. So far they are all playing correctly, but the slider at the top of the Rhythmbox window barely moves, making it difficult, if not impossible, to jump to different points in the songs. Nothing else seems to have been affected.

This wouldn't be a problem hadn't I rated much of them already.s there a way to change the filename from within Rhythmbox, or with an external method, where the ratings are left intact. I need it to be done automatically, manually changing Rhythmbox' database file takes too much time with +2500 songs.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Mass Convert ID3v2 Tags From Version 2.4 To 2.3

I share my music between ubuntu and windows 7 (nothing fancy just copy, paste, external hard drive). and have learnt that my music collection doesn't show up right in windows media player because WMP can't read version 2.4 right. most of my collection is saved in 2.4. I used mp3tag on windows for converting my whole collection but wiped the computer recently and had to start over. This time i would like to just convert my whole collection on my ubuntu pc through the terminal. I tried using EyeD3 but it didn't seem to work for me. But perhaps i typed the command wrong. Could someone show me either a proper command for converting my mp3 collection to v2.3 OR recommend another ubuntu program/commandline that can handle 7,500 songs and convert them to ID3v2 v2.3.

I used Easy Tag to edit my songs' ID3 tags. Banshee reads them fine but Rhythmbox misreads them! For eg., blink 182, Blink 182, and Blink-182!!! Apparently it's because Easy Tag makes ID3v1 tags while Rhythmbox read ID3v4? That's SO stupid! What am I supposed to do now? I saw RB had a bug filed but it got closed because "it's not a problem with rhythmbox, it's a problem with ID3 tags." RB should be able to read them! That's ridiculous. So how do I fix the tags? As for Banshee, anyone else move from version 1.6 to 1.7.6? The new one crashes everytime I use it. It's simply awful. And this is supposed to lots of bugs fixed? It's the new stable version? Ubuntu Multimedia :: Replace Amazon MP3 Artist Tags With Composer Information?

Mar 28, 2011

I recently downloaded several MP3 albums from Amazon. Most of these albums contain works from several different composers. The problem is, the Rhythmbox music player in Ubuntu Maverick won't display composer tags. I am therefore searching for a way to overwrite the artist tag of each file with the composer info. This overwriting would need to be a batch process.

Let's say that I have an album of the New York Philharmonic performing works of a dozen different composers.I would like for the correct composer to overwrite New York Philharmonic in each file. Is it possible to use a program such as EasyTag do what I need? Please provide detailed instructions and/or a link to such details.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Mp3 Codec Bitrate Always Shown As 48 Kbs Now?

Mar 6, 2011

This may be a minor irritation, but I'm puzzled by it nonetheless. I'm ripping my CDs to MP3 using Sound Juicer with the lamemp3enc plugin and following gstreamer pipeline.

audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lamemp3enc name=enc target=0 quality=0 ! xingmux ! id3v2mux

All was great a couple days ago, but suddenly the files' audio properties show 48 kbps bitrate when it should be well over 200. I even changed the pipeline to use "target=1 bitrate=256" with the same result. The files are being encoded as expected and that is reflected in the file size and the Statistics view in VLC.

I have two computers running Ubuntu 10.10. One has all the latest updates, but the other has not been updated in several days. This problem is happening on the former, but not the latter. gst-inspect lamemp3enc shows both computers have the same version of the encoder.

I thought I'd put it out to the forum here before submitting a bug in launchpad.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Amarok's Gone Silent - How To Fix It

Aug 25, 2010

Amarok's gone silent on me. It used to work fine until recently, even though I haven't done anything I can think of to change this apart from routine software updates. It is only happening to me.Other users on the machine are OK.I can play sound from other applications including Kaffeine, Skype and Audacious. The problem occurs with all file types I have tried, namely mp3 ogg and mpc.

Amarok looks like it's playing when I click play, in that the playback process bar is working and the time elapsed is displayed. Amarok appears as a client in the PulseAudio manager. The only thing I can see that might be odd, apart from the silence, is the big button near the top, level with and the same size as the play/pause button. I can't remember what this button is for. The symbol on it looks odd, as if an animated symbol for volume adjustment got caught on one particular frame. Clicking on this button does nothing either visually or functionally
