I ran an update last night just before I went to bed and shutdown my laptop.This morning, I turned on the computer and clicked on a link in an email. Firefox started but crashed almost immediatly. The same happened with Epiphany and Chrome. The only working browser I had left, was Opera.I started Firefox from the terminal, and saw this:
Code:
$ firefox
GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'apps.gecko-mediaplayer.preferences' is not installed
[code]...

I have downloaded NetBeans 6.8 to do java proramming. After downloading I want to know how to run "netbeans-6.8-ml-linux.sh" file. From command line I went to the folder where the netbeans-6.8-ml-linux.sh file is, and I type the command.
$ sudo ./netbeans-6.8-ml-linux
it says that:
sudo: ./netbeans-6.8-ml-linux: command not found

Is it possible to make the editor font in NetBeans look exactly the same as it does in Ubuntu 9.10's gnome terminal or gedit (that is, use the same font and make it antialiased)?

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 on a netbook with the remix UI. I downloaded netbeans and orginally it would show a gray screen after the splash screen disappeared. I was able to fix that by adding "export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit" to /etc/profile.
I then disabled a plugin, can't remember which one, and added a plugin to netbeans internal repository. Now netbeans won't start at all. It freezes at the splash screen. I have done a complete removal and a reinstallation, so I doubt the plugin stuff is affecting it. When I run netbeans from console it hangs, and displays not output until I send it an interrupt. Then it spits out this error message:
Quote:

I've tried a quick google search and found nothing. I've recently had to remove openJDK due to the sheer sluggishness of the entire outfit and instead installed SunJDK. Now, I've been trying to get Netbeans to work again (had to reinstall it) but it won't load. Here are the simple steps. 1. Click on netbeans (run) 2. Netbeans shows up the taskbar 3. Netbeans disappears from the taskbar 4. user left.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but I'm having trouble with NetBeans.
I'm trying to run a Java applet.
My code (provided by my Java instructor):
Code:
I get 1 of 2 errors, depending on my config:
1) If I run it with <default config>
2) If I run it with Web Start
I need NetBeans to work with applets for my Java class.

When I launch Netbeans the splash screen comes up fine, but when the loading bar gets to the "starting modules" phase the Desktop freezes up. Also sometimes nautilus causes the same kind of lockup.
I really like to know how to fix this.
edit:
it also freezes when using xmacro

I have looked at similar threads, but I still have a gap in my understanding.
I have netbeans-6.8-ml-linux.sh file and a jdk-6u18-linux-i586.bin file.
In a similar thread I found:
Quote:
chmod +x <installer_file> <- make it executable
./<installer_file> <- this should start the installer
Which file is my installer file? The .sh or the .bin ?

I'm working on netbeans and I'm using the jsr82 apis to establish a bluetooth connection and send data from the computer to another device. When I try to execute the program it stops at the line:
local=LocalDevice.getLocalDevice();
The error is:
Native Library bluecove not available
I've already put all the bluecove libraries within the lib folder of the project. This program works on Windows but not on Ubuntu 9. I don't know what's wrong because the Bluetooth device works and I can use it.

I'm trying to do a coursework at home which is a java web app. I've installed Tomcat and mySQL, both appear to be working fine. I have Netbeans installed already - from the Ubuntu Software Centre ages ago - when creating a new project it doesn't give an option for a web app project.... Is there some extra package(s) I have to install ?

I recently upgraded to 10.04 and now netbeans is not working. It worked fine the first restart after i upgraded so i thought all was good. This morning i ran it and it said something about not being able to load some modules. Since then, i've tried uninstalling it, re-installing it, and numerous restarts, all to no avail. I'm gonna try downloading the package from their website and running it from a separate install and see if that helps, but after that, I'm out of ideas.
When i run it either from the terminal or by clicking on it, it shows the loading screen, then the loading screen dissapears, then nothing else happens. In the terminal, it waits about ten seconds after the screen dissapears and the program seems to exit, since the terminal begins accepting commands once again.

Hello everyone,
I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop (32-bit) and everything has been working fine out of the box (even the wireless card!), but there appears to be something wrong with NetBeans 6.8, whichI installed through the Software Center.
I set the font to Monospace size 12 and you'll see on the screenshot that the letters in NetBeans are way smaller and thinner.
I did some googling and tried to use start NetBeans with -J-Dswing.aatext=true and -J-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on, but that did not change anything.
Is there anything I can do to force NetBeans to display the font the same way gEdit does?

I am running ubuntu 10.04 and am trying to install netbeans 6.8. I have downloaded the install from netbeans.org installed it and tried to update. But netbeans cannot connect to the web to check for updates or install new plugins. Keeps on telling me to check my proxy settings. I have tried all the settings, no proxy, use system settings, but no luck. I even installed netbeans via apt-get and tried to update, with the same result. All my other applications can connect fine.

I just started taking AP Computer Science A at my high school and we are learning to program in Java. At school we use Windows XP laptops with Jcreator but at home I just have my desktop with Ubuntu 10.04. I installed NetBeans 6.8 with no issues but can't figure out how to import and be able to work on my Jcreator projects from school. Not sure if this is the right section but I really need to get something working for school.

borked,
On running for the first time it asked if I wanted to import the old settings and then said it couldnt.
Trying to build a new project from existing sources for some reason goes 2 directories up and tries to include everything from there!

I installed Netbeans using the Synaptic GUI and it worked ok. Netbeans is now corrupted. I used the Synaptic GUI to completely remove it. That worked. I used the Synaptic GUI to download it again. It claimed to do it in 2 seconds and it is back to my corrupted Netbeans and practice projects. Obviously an efficiency move to reduce downloads because it was already archived somewhere by Synaptic.
How can I make the Synaptic GUI really download all of Netbeans again? I am not going to attempt to solve Netbeans mysteries. If there is no easy way to make the Synaptic GUI download, I will reinstall Wndows XP and my software for it, bring them up to date and reinstall Ubuntu 10.10 on another partition, bring it up to date and reinstall Netbeans. The only advantage of that method is that it works.

Has anyone tried installing netbeans plugins using a bash script?
I end up installing a fair number of plugins into the base IDE that is in the repositories. I would like to script the setup if I can, so it just opens up with everything I need. The 'ruby and rails' plugin is the one at the top of my list.
Installing simple plugins is pretty easy: wget, unzip and drop the files in the right directories. For 'ruby and rails' there are LOTS of files that get installed and dependencies to satisfy as well, so wget is probably not the most efficient way to get everything that is needed.
