I needed to download the mediainfo package to make a script Movie converter work but wasnt able to .The site suggested [url] dosent seem to be responding for the last 24 hours.I would also need libs libzen0 and libmediainfo but unable to get them from anywhere. From where else i can download them, i use ubuntu 9.10 i386 .

View 2 Replies View Relatedtoday I've tried to activate nautilus-converter-image package. due to some package's requirement I've thougth download last release about glib, pango and nautilus... trying install them I've got some errors (here, I've also give an ldconfig command) so at the end I've resigned and decided didn't install nautilus-converter-image. Thinking about replace original package I've reinstall the original. but after reboot when I clik "computer" o "network" icons in nautilus I get an error message like this.(translating) <Nautilus can't handle place "Computer" or "network">
Also I've seen when insert a media usb storage, I can't see in nautilus that device mounted, and also in /media is not present...Ok I know I has been too much superficial... but now It's really annoying problem..
I used a usb to ethernet port converter to bypass this issue. I have a laptop on which I have installed Xubuntu with a live cd. I am now trying to get ndiswrapper to work but apparently I need to compile it. Apparently I need build-essential to compile ndiswrapper. However, when I try to install build-essential from the cd it fails to find the other required packages.
Now I have no internet connection on this laptop (it has no ethernet port) so I have been transferring packages one or two at a time on a usb stick... I have noticed after some time that either with sudo apt-get or the synaptic package manager if there is more than one dependency it will always fail to find the 2nd. Am I going crazy? I am about to abandon Ubuntu to see if I have more luck elsewhere...
I am 75 years old, i have used DOS and Windows since their inception.Linux based operating systems are it seems to me overly complicated in nomenclature having used the MS systems all these years.I have spent hours trying to download plug-ins to make the movie player work and always get the same result ,,, I need plig-ins.With out being told how to build a watch I would like to know the time,,, there must be a simple download to install a working movie player on this Fedora 12 system.

Also, I can't even download the trailers from the site to watch them from my hard drive. It's like the linking system wont function properly.

Sometimes i have on some magazines or Internet Zip packages that are the answer of what i am looking for.
Wich tool and how can i do it? c Well, i am in position to say that i had downloaded from Internet or located the package in the Cd or DVD that comes with the magazine.
But now comes the big question. How can i put this package ( install) on my distro ???
Do i have to be a normal user or should it be root or su (superuser) ?
The packages that come with the distro is easy, because i select them and everything is done
As i told before, maybe this is a silly question, but i simple don't know how to install them and i need some of them to leave MS for good.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to make a time lapse movie using JPG images but I am really struggling to find the software. I have never actually used photolapse but it seems to be the software I am looking for, only problem is that it's for windows. So I've installed Wine and downloaded the photolapse.exe anyway but it won't open with wine so I don't know if that because it's not compatible? Or because I've done something wrong? I'd really appreciate it if someone could recommend a programme similar to photolapse that works in ubuntu or if someone could help me get photolapse working through wine.
Btw, I'm very new to linux and I'm not very good with IT stuff.
I've downloaded a few suggested converters, but they don't seem t ohave the right combination..I have some .avi's (from my camera) and want to put them on my website (using Joomla AllVideo component) so they have to be converted to .flv or maybe .mov.

I followed it all the way to where it asks me to install ConvertIt by adding the repos and then running Synaptic. I found convertit and marked for install and clicked apply and got this error:

So i check synaptic for that and i had them installed already from the guide. So i marked them all for reinstall since i installed them in the terminal the first time. Reinstalled and i still get the same error.
Any idea whats wrong? Or is there a better movie converter thats easier? I just want to re encode the files so the will play on my 360.
I'm trying to convert some songs I have in the Format .WMA to .MP3 searching around I found the program soundconverter, then installed it, only when I try to convert some music gives me an error saying that lack the decoder Windows Media Audio 9 also researched how solve this problem but got no success, I installed a lot of codecs and solved nothing.

The other reason is AVS Video Converter, I've fallen in love with it, it converts anything to anything quickly and flawlessly, but I want an alternative to it for Ubuntu, something that works flawlessly just like AVS, to refine my needs more, I use it to convert video for my PSP.

What I want to be able to do is open the (theoretical) output stream it produces in vlc and record it from there. Then I run into my next issue. There is no video* folder or link or file in my /dev directory and I can't stream video directly from the appropriate 'special file' inside /dev/bus/usb/00*/00*
