I'm trying to convert some songs I have in the Format .WMA to .MP3 searching around I found the program soundconverter, then installed it, only when I try to convert some music gives me an error saying that lack the decoder Windows Media Audio 9 also researched how solve this problem but got no success, I installed a lot of codecs and solved nothing.

I urgently need a good video converter for converting videos.I have already installed FFmpeg and men-coder,Winff etc. The problem is each has its own drawback.For instance ffmpeg cannot convert a .avi to .3gp with audio working. I want to convert some wav files to wma files. I have the wav files currently in a folder called Test to make it easy. So I have entered the following command line:
ajpearson@ajpearson-laptop:~/Desktop/pacpl-4.0.5$ pacpl --to wma home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test and the error message I get is:
error: the following is not a file or directory: home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test
It does not matter what directory I use I get the same error. I am sure the answer is obvious - but not t me.
I want to listen to this audio file: [URL] but my real player 11.0.0.4028 gold desn play it, it says that there is a codec 28_8 missing, I go to relaplayer page, download the last release available for linux systems, but the message is the same : audio codec missing and doesn't play the audio.
I havev tried to play the audio with smplayer (not luck), vlc can play the audio but the pause button doesn't work so I have to listen the entire audio all the time I stop it playing. I have problem with enabling mp3 in audio converter.
It said MP3 Encoder not present. it needs gstreamer plugin lame.
I saw somewhere that in package gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly is included lame now.
But it mp3 still is not enabled in audio converter.
Here is output of: rpm -qa | grep gstreamer

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis happens every time I try to burn an audio CD burning data CD seems to work fine.I open Brasero, click Audio project, drag a couple of FLAC files into it and try to burn, or in this particular case, create an image.A dialogue pops up where I am supposed to tell it where to put the image. I click Desktop but I don't change the file name (something like brasero.cue or whatever).Then it starts doing things but after a short while I get an error message and I am asked to save the log file, which I did and here it is:

I have made numerous audio CD's with Brasero, but recently I had to make one and mid way through the burning process I am given this error: Could not decode stream. Or some variation like that. It ruins the cd and after I get the error I can not eject the disc.

But I am having problems converting MP4 to MP3 (extracting audio) with the error message that libmp3lame unknown encoder. I checked that lame and libmp3lame0 are both installed. I followed it all the way to where it asks me to install ConvertIt by adding the repos and then running Synaptic. I found convertit and marked for install and clicked apply and got this error:

So i check synaptic for that and i had them installed already from the guide. So i marked them all for reinstall since i installed them in the terminal the first time. Reinstalled and i still get the same error.
Any idea whats wrong? Or is there a better movie converter thats easier? I just want to re encode the files so the will play on my 360.
This program keeps going gray & freezing up. Is anybody else having a problem

The other reason is AVS Video Converter, I've fallen in love with it, it converts anything to anything quickly and flawlessly, but I want an alternative to it for Ubuntu, something that works flawlessly just like AVS, to refine my needs more, I use it to convert video for my PSP.
