I installed Perl Audio Converter, The system recognizes the install, When I type perl in the terminal it says "Perl is already the newest version" And the perl files appear in my "bin" directory, However the program does not appear in the menu, Is this a common problem?, How do I fix it?
i am using Ubuntu 11.04 on my computer system. I urgently need a good video converter for converting videos.I have already installed FFmpeg and men-coder,Winff etc. The problem is each has its own drawback. For instance ffmpeg cannot convert a .avi to .3gp with audio working. My preferences are the converter should be user friendly, should support all popular video formats.
I have installed this program ok but I am new to command lines in terminal.
I want to convert some wav files to wma files. I have the wav files currently in a folder called Test to make it easy. So I have entered the following command line:
ajpearson@ajpearson-laptop:~/Desktop/pacpl-4.0.5$ pacpl --to wma home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test and the error message I get is:
error: the following is not a file or directory: home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test
It does not matter what directory I use I get the same error. I am sure the answer is obvious - but not t me.
Is there any converter which can handle audio and video files like Total video Convertor in windows?I am looking for a gui tooli want to convert wma to wav and mp3 for now...i do lots of format conversions
I discovered the world of video game music. Most of them are in .mod and .xm format. I want to be able to convert them via the command line to .mp3 so that I can play them on my iPod. Anyone know a good tool that does this?
I've downloaded a few suggested converters, but they don't seem t ohave the right combination..I have some .avi's (from my camera) and want to put them on my website (using Joomla AllVideo component) so they have to be converted to .flv or maybe .mov.
I'm looking for a way to capture pictures from videos. I understand there is a free program for Windows that does just that but I want to use Linux if I can.
I am trying to find a way to convert MS Mpeg4 files to a format that is playable on Totem or any of the media players for Ubuntu. I have tried many converters, even trying ones in Windows (I really didn't want to but thought I would give it a shot)
I have installed all the limited FFMPEG and x2.64 restricted and limited libraries. I have all the multiverse and universe repositories. I have tried WINFF, Avidemux, DeVeDe but to no avail and now I am tearing my hair out. Totem cannot find any plugins suitable.
I have a set of archival files from a previous machine that ran windows and one of Microsoft's proprietary photo packages. I have a set of files with the extension .mix and can find no program to convert them. I have tried the ABC program but it fails with floating point exceptions.
I have a training CD for my job,its an interactive disk with audio clips etc. I want to try extract the audio which is in the .AUD format. I have tried SoundConverter but it does not recognize the extension.Firstly am I correct in saying the audio is the .AUD extension, there is another file in the same folder with .DAT extension.
What are some good VGA to HDMI converters that work well with linux? Any suggestions? I don't know the resolution I'm working with just yet, but it appears to be a 42" hd lcd tv/monitor. I think there's a VGA port on the back, but I'd rather route the signal through HDMI for better resolution.
I was looking for a converter to use on common avi files and maybe some others and came across this thread. I followed it all the way to where it asks me to install ConvertIt by adding the repos and then running Synaptic. I found convertit and marked for install and clicked apply and got this error:
Code: convertit: Depends: gambas2-runtime (<2.1) but 2.13.1-1ubuntu1 is to be installed Depends: gambas2-gb-qt (<2.1) but 2.13.1-1ubuntu1 is to be installed
So i check synaptic for that and i had them installed already from the guide. So i marked them all for reinstall since i installed them in the terminal the first time. Reinstalled and i still get the same error.
Any idea whats wrong? Or is there a better movie converter thats easier? I just want to re encode the files so the will play on my 360.
I'm a palm pre user and I'm running 10.04 64 bit and I was just wondering what is the best video converting program to use to get videos to play on my palm pre.
So I still have a windows partition for two reasons: 1) Steam I know you can run this on wine and I have tried that, but I can;t run valve games at max everything (including AA and Filtering) and I like my good graphics so there is not much I can do about that. The other reason is AVS Video Converter, I've fallen in love with it, it converts anything to anything quickly and flawlessly, but I want an alternative to it for Ubuntu, something that works flawlessly just like AVS, to refine my needs more, I use it to convert video for my PSP.
You may all know about Total Video Converter, Any Video Converter and such used in Windows, where you chose codecs, like i want to convert to mp4 for my phone.
But.. there's one specific thing I'm looking for that most don't seem to have. Cutting. I need for example, to cut from 24:00 to 30:00, that is the only part i want cut and converted to mp4 ready for my phone.
I search for a Video Transcoder (neither ''Arista'' nor ''Transmagedon'') which can Recode a Video with my OWN options (like width: 640 high: 360)! And i need also (and this is more important) an Video to Mp3 Converter ( not WinFF, because i get an Error: libmp3lame unknown ) which i can convert many FIles at the same time.
I have a 'Gadget Geek VHS to DVD maker' USB device that takes analogue video in (composite) and plugs into the computer via USB.
Here is the output of lsuss (it's the eMPIA one):
Code:
Now this is essentially as far as I get, DBUS just says the following when I plug it in:
Code:
What I want to be able to do is open the (theoretical) output stream it produces in vlc and record it from there. Then I run into my next issue. There is no video* folder or link or file in my /dev directory and I can't stream video directly from the appropriate 'special file' inside /dev/bus/usb/00*/00*
I've had no trouble with it until attempting to add new music to my banshee music library and ipod. I've copied the music into my music folder and tried to convert to MP3 with sound converter but it keeps popping up with the warning "Cannot overwrite source files". I tried to convert the files to MP3 directly from the cd but that didn't work either.
