I am using skype in fedora 9. I am searching how can I delete skype call/chat history. I have searched some .dbb files in /home/<username>/.Skype/<skyID> directory like chatmsg2048.dbb. Can I safely remove these files in order to delete my chat history. Also, I cannot view these .dbb files in gedit. If I can read these files, I can better decide which history I need to delete.
I have a strange problem with my skype beta (latest) and Pidgin (gmail account) the problem is when i make voice call, it works fine for 1 or 2 mins then the voice drops and it connects after 20,30 secs.
i've recently installed pidgin via the Ubuntu Software Center. Unfortunnately it is lacking a "chat history" just like for example "Trillian" on Windows. Is there any IM-prog on Ubuntu which saves all conversations with any contact into files? (Just like Trillian on windows)
I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 x32 Today I started Skype and I couldn't hear the Skype logging sound. Nevertheles I could see the contacts online. When I tried to write messages in the chat they couldn't receive them. When I tried to call nothing worked. After that it seemed that Skype was completely blocked. I clicked with the right button on the green icon of Skype and chose "quit" but it wouldn't close. 1 I logged off from Ubuntu and on again. I opened Skype. I made right click in the green icon and chose "Options"
2 I went to the "Sound Devices" menu in the left part of the window
3 I removed the tick for "Allow Skype to automatically adjust my mixer levels"
4 I closed Skype and opened it again and the sound problem was gone.
How do I change the resolution in skype 2.1 beta on ubuntu 9.10?? At the moment my webcams resolution appears to be half the size of what it should be which is creating a double vision/image of me and I can only see about half of my head vertically. My resolution should be 640X480, but it clearly is not. It looks way smaller like 320X240.
I am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!
I am using USB logitech webcam C510, tested it OK with luvcview. But when I use skype no video shows up on my screen, the cam is still on (LED turns on) and remote user see my face. I googled a lot and can't find a way to fix it.
I have got facebook chat to work in pidgin but I am having problems connecting it. When I first open pidgin it gives me an error it says at the bottom "You require encryption, but it is not available on this server." if I keep clicking on reconnect it will usually connect me at some point but it can take a long time I'm wondering on how to fix this. So that it will connect automatically
Im wondering if its possible to set up a local network chat client on my work computers, they run redhat enterprise and they have pidgin installed on them. Is there a way to setup pidgin to be able to chat with other clients on a local network but not over the internet because the computers are not hooked up to an internet connection. I expect there is a way to do this but couldnt figure it out.alternatively if there is a command line utility that can do this i would be interested to know more,
I know Pidgin store chat log in plain text or HTML format. Is there any plugin for pidgin to encrypt the chat log while logging it?Similar to Windows version of MSN Messenger free application called MSNPlus! that contains this feature to encrypt chat log.

I have tried to migrate my empathy settings and chat history to another machine.I copied .config/apps/empathy .local/share/empathy .mission-control .gconfig/app/empathy...But the new empathy do not recognize these settings. What am I missing?
I get a problem when I try to connect to jabber chatroom. I tried to join a chat room in the following way: "Buddies > Add chat...", set the name of existing room (it exactly exists), server and group to what I want to add new chat in my contact list. The room isn't protected by password, therefore I didn't set password. New contact was added to my contact list. But when I try to open chat's window by doubleclick on this contact nothing happens. I also don't watch any error messages in pidgin's debug window while I'm trying to open chat window. Attempt to click on "Join" in contact's context menu or join a chat by "Buddies > Join a chat room..." also don't yield results. I use pidgin v.2.6.1 on Slackware 12.2. What's wrong?
a friend of mine is running debian and for some reason we are getting errors when we try to use the deb package on its google code page were there like some dependancies that we need to install first before doing it through the use of a deb package
At the moment the Android version of Skype doesn't support video chat at the moment, just audio. There are lots of apps in Android for video chat (Oovoo, Tango), but I can't find one that will allow me to video chat from the phone to an Ubuntu laptop.
i have a partition, with windows 2000 on one side and ubuntu 8.10 on the other. I installed the ubuntu a year ago but only started using a few days ago. I am currently busy transfering all of my activities from Windows to Ubuntu. This transfer involved, among other things, an attempt to add the skype plugin to my pidgin software on ubuntu. Here are the instructions I followed (from the site Ubuntu Geek) :
After installing the plugin I opened pidgin but was unable to do anything with it. I later understood the reason -- namely, that a condition for this plugin to work was that skype had to be installed and running on my system. So i installed skype (but only after having added the plugin).
In any case, now my pidgin will not start. When I try to start the program, the little pidgin window flashes briefly on the screen and then disappears. Having absolutely no experience with linux systems I don't even know where to start looking for the problem. I thought of uninstalling and reinstalling pidgin, but I get a warning that this program shares vital components with other programs, so I dare not...
