I have a new portable media player, an Archos 5. I very much like it because there is much more I can do with it than with my iPod.
I managed to get it to work in Amarok once, to transfer my library from the iPod to it. Now, I can't get Amarok to read it. Everytime I try, it freezes up on me.
Has anybody had any better luck using a different program with the Archos 5? Is there maybe a way to make Amarok work with it?
Audio sync method. "Stretches/squeezes" the audio stream to match the timestamps, the parameter is the maximum samples per second by which the audio is changed. -async 1 is a special case where only the start of the audio stream is corrected without any later correction.Searching the net makes one believe that this command is just some sort of magic.People just put it in the line and it just works. Isn't that nice?
It says nothing about how to change the TIME the audio starts syncing. Like do I want it to start 5 seconds delayed? Or what about 5 seconds sooner?What if the audio gets more out of sync as the video goes on? Can I slip it a little at a time? What? No magic?No one mentions a file that already has badly synced audio.So what -async 1 really does is simply start the audio at the beginning of the file. LIKE AS IF THAT ISN'T STANDARD PROCEDURE?So what is the exact solution to syncing a messed up video? And why can't it just do the proper "timestamp" sync in the first place?No docs, no info and you are left out in the cold.
I got myself an Archos 5 and pretty much have it triple booted using OpenAOS [url] but the partition I added with FroYo that I wanted in particular won't boot up.
BUT My real problem is when going into Archos mode and plugging it in to my Ubuntu laptop, it insists on being some strangely mounted thing 'MTP' or something. I can view the files and folders via Nautilus, but I can't copy them, move them or add to them. I need to open a file with gedit to set up a patch. Nope! Gedit says it's a 'gphoto2' type mount thing.
"Could not open the file gphoto2://[usb:002,006]/menu.lst."
I would not be surprised if Rythmbox set it up like this, I tried it because of the big button in Nautilus when I open the device. Oops...
How to get the touchscreen working in Ubuntu 10.10 on Archos 9? I have so far managed, through reading various threads on various forums, to get the screen working as a touchpad with the axis inverted and flipped. The optical track-pad and mouse buttons on the left are also working. The eGalaxTouch application loads but gives me a message "No Touch Controller Found" before going into an about screen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUbuntu no longer boots up on my Archos 10 netbook, it's been working fine for the whole month I've had it but now it simply sticks to the Ubuntu loading screen and doesn't progress further. Windows still boots fine so my guess is it's not a hard drive failure that's causing it.

On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
1000.8 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Free disk space: 280.9 GB
System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.
Whenever I try to sync music to my iPod nano 5th gen the songs dont sync. Ive been trying to use Banshee since I couldnt delete songs using Rythembox. The problem though is that it says its syncing, the songs are transferring, and all that good stuff but when I go to look at my music theres nothing in there.

Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?
Is it possible to link a folder to GTKpod so that it can automatically update the changes to iPhone that are made to files or folders like tag changes or adding or deleting files?

While I can access and transfer music files to my iPhone, upon unmounting the iPhone doesn't update the library nor show the music. If I remount it in Rhythmbox, I can play the files from there. In my file manager I can access my iPhone, but I can't either see the iPod_Control directory nor find anything in Music or Playlists folders. BTW, on Karmic Koala I was able to update music on my iPhone, though it would not always update library.

I plug it in to my laptop (Ubuntu 10.04), it recognizes it as a photo storage but it will not recognize it in Rhythmbox or Banshee. Therefore I cannot get any files on to it. Although when I plug it in and open Rhythmbox it makes a little noise.
I have tried installing libimobiledevice, ifuse and tried with gtkpod (basically I've read a lot of stuff about getting it to work) all to no avail. I also plugged it into Windows Vista to get it started as well as transferred a song from iTunes 10 to it, and it still doesn't do much when on my laptop.
It seems to not be mounted in the proper place for gtkpod and no fixes seemed to work. For using ifuse it does not seem to recognize that it is plugged in. I have updated all the libimobiledevice packages and still nothing.
I've upgraded Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10 yesterday and I'm experiencing some issues now.
Audio is out of sync for all videos I'm trying to watch in VLC (sync was 100% fine in Ubuntu 10.04).
Can anybody explain to me how to sync an iPod using Guayadeque please???
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy 2nd Gen iPod Nano isn't syncing with Rhythmbox, Banshee, or any other music program. My computer will see the iPod and mount it fine, but only as a Read-Only drive (so I can't drag files onto it). In Banshee, for example, it will see the drive, but none of the sync options work, and I can't drag music files from the library onto the iPod.and if anyone knows anything, that'd be great. Also, if you need more info, let me know. Trying to move everything into Linux and this is really the last thing I want to work to make the move final.

I just tried watching a video and whenever someone said something, the sound was a full word behind the movement of the mouth.
This never happened until recently. I think there was an update to the sound drivers a couple weeks back, but I'm not too sure.
I'm using Banshee that comes installed on 11.04. Syncing seems to work only one of two ways: 1. sync entire library (not possible for me) or 2. sync a single banshee playlist. How do I sync say three playlists to my iphone?I've tried syncing another playlist and it wants to wipe the rest of the music from my phone.

Is there any way to mount and sync music with this iPod? My old nano used to work just fine in Rhythmbox.
Banshee will recognize iPod shuffle 4th gen. It will let me drag songs to iPod and they show up in Banshee as being on my iPod. When I disconnect iPod and hit play, the voice over tells me to please load songs from iTunes.

Recently I saw that with a MKV file you could do soft subtitles. I tested a part of a movie, and the audio and video are very out of sync.
With MP4/burned in audio everything is ok...
Edit: Ow yes I'm using XBMC for playing it. MP4 + MKV files are both H.264, they have the exact same settings except for subtitles...
Weirdly Enough: I tried another video and at this one the audio is in sync....
I am having a few problems concerning my mp3 player: (I thought a long time about posting this in the hardware section, but in the end it comes down to the fact that this is still an mp3 player - I know it's still piece of hardware - which indicates that's it is some sort of music device... doesn't matter)
1. The system somehow doesn't recognize it and doesn't handle it the way it handles external hard drives. However, the device is recognized by amarok. How do I change this circumstance or if this is normal, why?
2. How do I synchronize music to it, using Amarok?
