I want to have my whole library in OGG because it's free and has a better sound quality. The thing is that i have an ipod nano 4th gen and I heard that you can't sync ogg files with an ipod. So, how can i get my music into my ipod without having two separate libraries (that would take too much space in my HDD)?
I have read couple articles here about ipod shuffle sync in ubuntu. Can't I just plug it into USB, mount the ipod shuffle as drive and copy my mp3 files over? What do I miss at the moment? (I haven't bought the ipod shuffe yet, that is why I can't test it right away. What is the deal with it?)
Whenever I try to sync music to my iPod nano 5th gen the songs dont sync. Ive been trying to use Banshee since I couldnt delete songs using Rythembox. The problem though is that it says its syncing, the songs are transferring, and all that good stuff but when I go to look at my music theres nothing in there.
I just got a 4th generation iPod Touch today. I plug it in to my laptop (Ubuntu 10.04), it recognizes it as a photo storage but it will not recognize it in Rhythmbox or Banshee. Therefore I cannot get any files on to it. Although when I plug it in and open Rhythmbox it makes a little noise.
I have tried installing libimobiledevice, ifuse and tried with gtkpod (basically I've read a lot of stuff about getting it to work) all to no avail. I also plugged it into Windows Vista to get it started as well as transferred a song from iTunes 10 to it, and it still doesn't do much when on my laptop.
It seems to not be mounted in the proper place for gtkpod and no fixes seemed to work. For using ifuse it does not seem to recognize that it is plugged in. I have updated all the libimobiledevice packages and still nothing.
My 2nd Gen iPod Nano isn't syncing with Rhythmbox, Banshee, or any other music program. My computer will see the iPod and mount it fine, but only as a Read-Only drive (so I can't drag files onto it). In Banshee, for example, it will see the drive, but none of the sync options work, and I can't drag music files from the library onto the iPod.and if anyone knows anything, that'd be great. Also, if you need more info, let me know. Trying to move everything into Linux and this is really the last thing I want to work to make the move final.
I have just got a new iPod Touch 4th generation, currently running iOS 4.1. I am having difficulty syncing it with Rhythmbox (or any application!), as it seems to go un-recognised! It currently is not jailbroken.
Is there any way to mount and sync music with this iPod? My old nano used to work just fine in Rhythmbox.
Banshee will recognize iPod shuffle 4th gen. It will let me drag songs to iPod and they show up in Banshee as being on my iPod. When I disconnect iPod and hit play, the voice over tells me to please load songs from iTunes.
When I first plugged my ipod in, it said that it was too new to read, so I ran the update with banshee. Now it shows all of the files, but whenever I try to add or remove a file from my ipod, it say that it's preparing to synchronize, but just sits there. How to make it actually sync?
I've been using banshee for a couple weeks. And it's worked great up until now. This happened one other time, and I reinstalled ubuntu, and it worked fine. Now it's not working again. What's happening is, I plug my ipod in, and banshee recognizes it. But when I try to put music onto it, it says it's syncing, and then I disconnect, and the music isn't on there. I updated podsleuth, but that didn't seem to help.
(using 10.10) and I just can't get my iPod Touch to sync with my Rythmbox.
When I plug my iPod into the USB port, a message is prompted, which tells me it detected a digital music device and asks me to select a program to access it. Then I select "Rythmbox" and Rythmbox opens.
My iPod's name shows on the left bar, but when I select it, no songs appear, and also I can't drag songs from my library to my iPod.
I aready tried Banshee and Amrok and it didn't work on those either.
tranferring Ipod audiobooks (m4b) files to my Ipod. I can't get them to transfer with GTKpod or Rhythmbox. I did manage to get a file copied, but it didn't show up on the Ipod.
I've started using Banshee to sync my ipod lately. There are a few issues with it that I can bear - having to killall natutilus every time I reconnect my ipod being one. But I'm getting a bit peeved with Banshee being apparently incapable of syncing my album artwork correctly. It downloads the correct artwork perfectly within banshee, but at the minute about half the albums on my ipod have REM Monster cover art beside them. Is there any way I can force Banshee to reset the artwork?
I really, really like Banshee and I really, really don't want to use gtkpod or rythmbox
Overview:I have a 5th gen video ipod which I'm trying to load onto my banshee.I was able to do this in the past, but since the upgrade to 10.04 (WHICH IS AWESOME!!) I've been S.O.L. Previously, I had to change some settings in order to get the ipod to sync w banshee, and I'm wondering if that's why I'm blocking it's native ability to sync. I'm trying to remember what changes I've made, but it's been awhile...
Breakdown: - in order to mount the iPod, I have to go to Places>Ipod and select it from the list
- I then open banshee, and the ipod is recognized in my menu
- when I go to load it, it says "loading ipod", which goes indefinitely and never ends...
- in addition, it does not recognize any music/video is on my ipod - only 11.9gb of "other"
...and that's it. I would love to load my new music
I have ubuntu 9.10. I want to sync my ipod touch to ubuntu via rhyytm box as I heard ITunes 9 does not work even via wine. Or shall I wait ubuntu 10.04 LTS is out does that support it? I found this software for ubuntu for ipod and iphone called ifuse no idea how to get that going or anything.
I want to sync music into my iPod and and put them in albums and have an artwork for every song. I tried rhythmbox but I don't know how to put the artwork on the songs. I tried Hipo iPod management tool and gtk iPod manager but it doesn't recognize the iPod. I also tried iTunes with wine but it doesn't recognize the iPod either. I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
I'm new to ubuntu and I was a little concerned the jump over would be a little complicated. I was happy to see that almost everything on my external hd worked perfectly and rhythmbox plays all of the music files I have. I attempted to add music to my ipod (8gb iTouch specifically). It seemed that none of the music would come up on the iPod, even though rhythmbox showed that the files were on there. After a little time (and if I did something other than wait, I'm unaware) the files popped up on my iPod. Later in the week, I tried to add more music, with similar problems. I've removed and added the files several times and allowed the iPod to fully sync, but they still won't come up. I don't understand why it would work sometimes and not other times.
I have an ipod touch 2g with ios 4.2.1. I have used other ipods without a problem syncing with banshee, hipo, rhythmbox and songbird.I can even mount it to view or edit the files. Unfortunetly i am using a netbook so i can use a virtual machine
I have recently purchased an ipod touch 4g and i am trying to sync it with my laptop running on slackware 13.1. So i looked around these links [URL]... and downloaded
I have created slackware packages using src2pkg and installed them on my system. But when i do ifuse /media/ipod it gives an error

No device found, is it connected? If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device. If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it. i am using root account while doing this. when i do a lsusb | grep Apple it shows
I've got Ubuntu One syncing a single 25MB folder on 4 computers. On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs: Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic 1000.8 MB RAM Pentium 4 2.53GHz Free disk space: 280.9 GB System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.
Migrated my wife to Linux when her old computer broke. She has an old iPod (one of the first ones to show video) that has music and playlists on there. I know how to sync podcasts to my iPod shuffle with gPodder and GTKpod. But how would I sync up files with her iPod? Also, what program would I use to automatically sync the iPod with any music dropped into her Music folder? This should be as painless as using iTunes or she won't do it.
I'm trying to understand how gtkpod syncs my local library with my ipod.I've got two repositories. One for my ipod, the other for my local library.what's the procedure to sync them?I know you can drag and drop folders and tracks but I suppose there's a simpler way to sync all my music just doing "something" between my two repositories.
When I plug-in my iPod it gets detected by gtkpod and all the files load fine. I am able to delete files, add photos. But I am not able to add new songs. I get the following errors:1. If I drag and drop files it says "Drag and drop failed"2. If I add files through the "Add files" button,it either says "The following track could not be processes (unknown filetype)"
