I am using Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) along with Windows XP.
When I play mp3 files in Rhythmbox, it plays fine. But it's seek bar is freezed ie, seems like it is disabled. Anyone knows how to enable it.
My System config is:
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
512 MB RAM,
250 GB HDD,
Intel Motherboard
umm a while back ago when i used ubuntu 10.04 it wouldnt let you edit your gui etc unlike jaunty jackalope i was wondering if theyadded any more features from jaunty jackalope lately?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi had ubuntu jaunty jackalope and windows xp on my dell ispiron. a friend split my hard drive beacuse i wasn't sure about ubuntu. he installed using a cd. a few weeks ago i updated to karmic koala. i did it from the site, which took my whole hard drive. is it a difficult process to get back the jaunty jackalope and windows xp or is it gone forever?

Is anybody knows how to install USB Modem SU-8200 U on Ubuntu 9.04?.I have use wvdial and dependencies for Debian,but it still not works.I use Gnome-PPP ; but no modem detected.I use usb_modeswitch from Draisberghof, but no deffault setting etc/usb_modeswitch.conf either on usb_modeswitch.setup.I know USB based modem is the worst comm option for Linux.I think I should use PCMIA modem type.Anybody know the compatible one for Ubuntu 9.04?btw,I tried to set it up on my HP Compaq Pressario V3700,...all drivers and hardware are work good,except USB modem.

The Netbook I am typing this on right now(ASUS Eee PC w/ Win 7);is connected on a home network, that is using the WiFi signal, that is going through that Linux Machine. The Linux machine's Mozilla browser does not seem to be able to use/connect w/ the DLink USB adapter's "Auto Linksys" internet connection. Is there a easy fix for this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just fired up Rhythmbox and threw all my MP3s into it.. but whilst it plays files, the slider bar just refuses to move, so there is no way to seek through an mp3.
How can I fix this? It's kinda useless without seeking for me.. all those long mixes.
Im running Fedora 11 x86_64. I enabled the rpmfusion repositories (free & non-free) and opened an MP3. The codecs installed correctly, but when I play them in either rhythmnox or totem, it plays but there are issues. Oddly, it depends on whether I ripped the mp3 myself (on Fedora 10, 196kbps CBR) or bought (play.com, 320kbps CBR).For the bought mp3s, the track length is displayed and the progress bar fills as the song progresses, but I cant skip to another part of the song. For the ripped mp3s, the player thinks it is streaming (track length unknown).
I thought it might be due to using ext4, but this happens even if i play them off an ext3 partition. The mp3s themselves are fine - they play perfectly in Ubuntu and WIndows.
Been using since summer 2009 the xserver no backfill from PPA: [URL] and it was working fine with my ATI video card. No heavy CPU usage when restoring from minimized and a general performance boost were the results of that use.But recently made an upgrade and realized that xserver-xorg-core package (check it from synaptic manager) has been upgraded to a jaunty-proposed version and the problems started to appear again!So using Synaptic I selected this package and hit CTRL-E key in order to choose the nobackfill version. This way things got back to normal!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to troubleshoot a block seek error with a particular DVD (most DVDs work with my computer, just a random few that fail). The failure is (I presume) caused by incorrect information on the DVD itself to try to fool unlicensed players. I get a libdvdread error "Can't seek to block ...". I have traced this error message to three sources in dvd_reader.c. I have modified the error message so that it also prints the file name and the line, but I am having such a hell of a time trying to compile libdvdread. I have installed libdvdcss2-dev, and most of the other obvious development packages. However, the instructions for compiling lindvdread make no sense (I am assuming they want me to run the 'configure2' script here) and it is throwing up all kind of weird compiler errors. This can obviously be compiled somewhere for a binary package to exist. How this is done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen playing a song, I am unable to manipulate the seek bar and skip to&fro, it's seems absolutely except for the fact the cursors (if that's the right word for it) glows, and it says "Jump to XXX" but it does nothing. This pretty much happens on any and every song, however if I play another track come back it may or may not work. Sometimes it works fine (usually not), but it'll freeze again after the track changes.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer with integrated ATI graphics. Specs below and lspci log attached. I was running 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope until 1 week ago. Everything worked fine from the day I installed it. It's default driver worked fine and graphics requiring applications like Google Earth and Secret Maryo Chronicles (game) ran smoothly. Then about a week or so ago I did a clean install of Lucid on this PC. And now Secret Maryo Chronicles runs choppy and Google Earth doesn't run and display images smoothly. I could understand having problems like this if I were switching to Fedora or something but I'm still using the same distro (and both are recent versions).
Computer Specs:
ATI Radeon Xpress 200 integrated graphics with 256 MB RAM
Intel Pentium 4 clocked at 3.00 Ghz
2 GB RAM (.25 being used for graphics card)
500 GB Hard drive (355 for Ubuntu)
2 DVD drives
Unfortunately, I am stuck running jaunty -- because my company still requires this as our standard OS for our software. I have a computer with a fresh install of 9.04 but of course none of the medibuntu packages. Why did they take down jaunty from the medibuntu repository! Where I can get these packages now? (w32codecs, etc.)
View 8 Replies View RelatedI upgraded fro Jaunty to Karmic and then to Lucid and my TV card has stopped working. I had been informed that this was a result of the splitting of the linux-firmware into two separate packages, but having installed the linux-firmware-nonfree package the problem persists. The card is a Hauppauge WinTV PCI and although it is properly recognised by commands like lsmod, lspci and in the sound card settings, I can't tune in a single channel. It worked out of the box in Jaunty. Is there anything else that needs to be done to get the nonfree firmware working properly?

After sometime Shotwell froze.Checked my photos folder, the photos haven't been copied there yet. Checked the camera; It's empty.There were 2 sqlite databases (.tmp files) in /tmp. Copied. That eliminated everything on the desktop except the Debian8 background image and the panel clock and made it impossible to do anything other than log out via a right click on the panel. Shutting down and rebooting just brings back the same situation. No terminal available.
I've seen a bit about the display being frozen on intel integrated displays, but I do not see the answer anywhere. Does anyone know how to fix this problem: Ubuntu 9.10 boots and runs just fine for 10, 20 or even 30 minutes performing variety of tasks. Then, without warning the display is frozen. The mouse can move the pointer just fine, but I cannot interact with the desktop and the machine must be shutdown by holding the power button.
I've observed this while playing a Kpatience game, general surfing of the internet, and view ..... videos. One time it happened when the display powers off after being idle, but this is not consistently the case. I have tried to make the freeze happen, but am unable to do so (so it seems, anyway). What is happening here? Here are the details of my system:

About a year ago, I installed ubuntu on my ThinkPad X61, which was running windows. I basically just overwrote the hard drive, assigning one partition to the install. The graphics have always been a little buggy when it comes to 3d rendering or flash. Flash graphics flicker a lot and 3d rendering leaves trails or doesn't show up at all. Is there a way to configure the graphics card? I'm completely unexperienced when it comes to graphics cards and don't know where to start. I don't even know how to access its settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a Sony NWZ-E345 MP3 player that used to be seen by Rhythmbox when running 9.10 with no issues. After enabling the plugin for MTP within Rhythmbox the player was seen at connection. However, after updating to 10.04 my MP3 player is not seen at all, even though MTP support is enabled under plugins. As a matter of fact none of the media players I installed can see my player and they all support MTP. I tried some other players as a troubleshooting step. I have confirmed that libmtp8 is installed via the repository. Has anyone encountered this as well? I suspect this may be an easy reply for someone. BTW, this occurs with two different machines and nothing has changed with my MP3 player.

Whenever I extract individual media files from such an archive, the seek bar at the bottom works as it should. Thus, it can be ascertained that it is not the media files that are the source of the problem, here.
why that is doing so? Sounds like a bug, or what?
Yesterday, I was seeking for some Flash Player tweaks for Jaunty. In Adobe's web site I found and installed "APT for Ubuntu 9.04+." That move installed adobe-flashplugin to the system. After I removed flashplugin-nonfree and flashplugin-installer, Interestingly flash videos begin to player smoother; especially in http://www.animefreak.tv/ . Is it just a coincidence or an advantage of "APT for Ubuntu 9.04+"; because it did not exist in Adobe's website one month ago, just ".deb for Ubuntu 8.04+" was available for download.

How does the installer seek the ISO? I'd like to know why sometimes it would fail to find that one(but they do exist) and sometimes the installer find it perfectly. Currently I am not able to read the source code of the installer.
