I have tested Icedtea and sun java on 10.04, but I'm not able to play [url]
Sun gets closest, but still fails. I use ver. 1.6.0_20. Is there any way I can download/save the java applet from the web-page and open it with sun java 6 web start ?
When I try to load this applet [URL]... It won't load properly and doesn't do anything. I have java installed and everything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't get java applications to run properly in a lot of cases. I've tried completely removing Java and reinstalling it. I've tried removing Iced Tea and OpenJDK and installing Sun Java instead. I've done a complete, clean reinstall of Ubuntu. The symptoms of my problem never seem to change. Minecraft is the best example I can give you. As soon as the game loads (in the web or on the desktop alike) it closes abruptly. This is what's in the log file.

I'm thinking "C [+0x416] __kernel_vsyscall+0x2" is important somehow. I can't seem to figure out what it means. I've tested this on a friend's laptop using the same (Ubuntu 10.10) and it works fine, no errors. I know other people are running their java fine.
How to get Java applet running on Squeeze, jre-6u26-linux, is needed to be installed, but I counld not do it, is there any alternative way to get Java applet working ? It works on Lenny, but I am moving to Squeeze.

I recently upgraded an ASUS netbook through a series of about 4 or so upgrades ending at Maverick (10.10). Sound in Java applets worked fine before that, but I've been trying for about a week now to get it working again.
Here is what I have tried so far:
Removed Sun Java and plugin, and installed Openjdk and icedtea
Removed Openjdk and icedtea, and installed Sun Java and plugin
Verified through aboutlugins that FireFox plugin matched installed Java plugin
Tried using padsp and aoss wrappers
Along the way I have also tried other suggestions I have found through Google for configuring sound and setting file permissions, but nothing works. No matter what I do, sound keeps working everywhere except in Java applets.
Here are some observations along the way.
Sound has worked everywhere I try except in Java applets. It works with Flash.
Java applets work fine except for sound. Java console indicates that sound files are being received and passed to applets.
My Java executable is located at /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java. I have tried renaming it "java.real" and creating a shell script that wraps it with padsp or aoss. When I do that Java works, but Java applets fail to start. The Java console does not start up, so the wrappers appear to prevent applets from starting.
I am trying to run applets at [url]. They work fine for me on a 64-bit 10.04 system and a 32-bit 10.04 system.
My sound on Runescape stops and picks up, is very choppy and annoying. I'm using Debian "Lenny". Sound on everything else works just fine (Flash, VLC, etc...)

I can't get the flash plug-in to work properly. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 x64, which I think might be the issue. It seems to be able to run flash games and videos etc. but it won't let me interact with it. So if I want to pause the video, I can't or if it doesn't automatically start, I can't watch it. With games, it runs, but I can't click on it at all.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using the 10.04 Netbook Edition on an ASUS EeePC 1005HA. Earlier, I had 9.10 Netbook Remix installed. Under 9.10NR, the webcam worked wonderfully in Cheese. Once I upgraded to 10.04NE, the webcam became sluggish to the point where it is now unusable. In video mode it captures about 1 frame per five seconds. Under 9.10NR, it regularly captured 60 fps.
Did the driver package for webcams change significantly between 9.10 and 10.04? I can't think of anything else that would cause this issue due to an OS upgrade.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had installed pavucontrol in Ubuntu 10.04 to record the sounds being played on the system, by changing the "Record stream for" value to "Monitor of Internal Audio Analog Stereo". I installed pavucontrol in Maverick as well, but here it doesn't capture and show the sounds being played at all, not even in playback (No sound meter bar activity below each entry). The sound can still be decreased/increased and it shows all the devices playing back or recordong. Also if I change the hardware to "Digital duplex" from Analog stereo Duplex" it starts capturing and showing the streams, but then I can't hear anything from the speakers. I even compiled the newest pavucontrol, but still the same.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is a very new desktop system using an ASUS mainboard with built on sound. I've never had sound working properly and have re-installed many times. One sound will play (KDE4 desktop sound, Amarok audio, even games under WINE) but when a second sound plays, it stops the first one (and plays perfectly), but then the first app is no longer able to play sound. I tried to get Skype going today and have some very interesting results.
It works but on a test call my voice sounds like I'm going for the "Extortionist of the Year" award! Have a listen here if you feel like a quick laugh - [URL]. Great effect for issuing ransom demands, but not too useful when calling family. So, help me through getting my audio working properly on my Toshiba Satellite A105-S2081 Laptop. I think I've been through most of the help messages and tried many things to get it working correctly. The ONLY thing that has helped is to go to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and change model=auto to model=generic. (options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N model=generic)
I've tried model=toshiba, model=auto, model=lenovo, model=3stack, model=dallas and the laptops internal sound device disappears from the list of sound devices. If I plug in my Logitech Headset, it seems to work fine.It also seems to work fine if I boot it up into XP SP3.It does work now generally with model=generic, but not sure that everything works properly, like the headset & microphone jack. (Actually the reason I have the Logitech Headset is because the headset jack doesn't work).

I guess this would be most easily done using a script of some sort, but I have no idea how to go about doing this..

Opera is my primary browser (Version 10.60 beta) and have FireFox 3.6.4 as the second choice. Both the browsers are malfunctioning when it comes to Java.

However, this is causing my comp to go into overdrive. The twin processors are at nearly 100%. I have two Intel T1600s. If I kill the browser, google chrome or Mozilla, things calm down. It is definitely the applet causing this.
