I have been using handbrake for a long time to encode dvd's to mp4.The dvd's always resides on HDD in VIDEO_TS structure.Previously I always could select the folder as there was an option for that on the bottom left after you selected "source".Suddenly now that option to read the whole folder is gone. I can only select a single file. I didn't fiddle with it or anything. That option is just suddenly gone.

This morning (11-18-2010 13:00GMT) at boot up authbind isn't allowing tomcat to bind to 80.Checked /etc/default/tomcat AUTHBIND=yes is still set/etc/authbind/byuid still matches the id for tomcat6 in /etc/passwd and is set to 0.0.0.0/0:1,1023 on the one I've been debugging, 0.0.0.0/32:1,1023 on the remainder.I added in 80 to /etc/authbind/byport and made it owned by tomcat6 and gave it u+rwxWhen I run /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start the java process created is owned by tomcat6.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a few live concerts in AVI format I wanted to convert to mp4 since that is the only video format the Google CR-48 currently sort-of supports. I can successfully convert a series of AVI TV shows, including a Pink Floyd concert in AVI. But if I turn around and try to convert a Pearl Jam convert in AVI format, it instantly says RIP DONE! with a 1.5kb file from the convert in the destination folder.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I go about ripping the whole DVD? All Handbrake does is rip the first episode? Google gives instructions for Apple and Windows and they don't cover doing it in Linux. They make it sound like it's automatic. I hasn't been for me so far. Well at least until this DVD issue that follows. Since installing Handbrake and routine openSUSE 11.3 64 updates my DVDs are not mounted and the notifier doesn't pop up. Navigating to /media shows no DVD mounted. I realize this could be a hardware failing issue but the DVD spins up and flashes like it's scanning the DVD. A reboot to reset everything didn't solve this issue. If I stick a USB thumb drive in it's mounted and the notifier pops up.

I've used it for a while now on 32 bit Ubuntu 9.10 and on 64 bit Windows 7 but since I've upgraded to 10.04 64 bit I can add a video as source and the encode button is grayed out. I cannot start encoding. The version of Handbrake I am using is 0.9.4.Does anyone have any idea how to remedy this issue? I am thinking of trying version 0.9.3 again.

I'm currently using handbrake (with the gui) to convert some video files to mpg4. It takes about 2 hours to convert an average movie is there anything a little speedier? I'm running a core2duo processor.

I have ripped quite a few movies onto my server and I play them on my PS3 with mediatomb. I haven't changed any of the settings in handbrake except I was playing around with the quality meter on the video tab. Some of my movies will play and others won't. The ones that do not play say something about an unsupported file type. They also will not play in Movie Player.

I'm using openSUSE 11.1 64-bit and as far as I can tell I've installed libstdc and libwebkit. I can't find (FileDigests) and (PayloadlsXz). I've searched around and couldn't find much on this.Don't the above errors mean that I do not have those packages installed, or am I just reading this wrong?
I use jpilot on opensuse 11.3 64bit to sync pim data with my Palm Treo 680 via bluetooth. This worked fine until today. Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on an HP dc5100MT workstation. Sound works nearly all the time, but once in a while, the sound stops and I have no idea why. The channel is not muted, the volume is 100%, and not even rebooting fixes it. It will just start working on its own.Under the Sound Preferences panel, the output volume is 100%. The channel is not muted. I can get sound out of the internal speaker by changing the connector to "Analog Output (LFE) / No Amplifier", but not out of the "Analog Output / Amplifier" which is the green sound cable plugged into the sound card.I only use this machine as a video player using VLCNothing else.I would like to know some tricks to isolate and troubleshoot this when it happens.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get any sound from either online audio or from a CD in drive. I've watched videos with sound with only occasional problems until today. I have been using MPlayer with internal audio 1 output - analog stereo output. When I start a vid, it will begin to D/L and play, but without sound. When I try to check the volume level everything pauses and then my system freezes. Sometimes it will release in a few seconds, but mostly it won't allow me to close Firefox and if I try to close the tab or window or Firefox, I have to reboot. Sometimes the vid will D/L without a problem, but no audio on playback. Oddly, when I bring up the system monitor, processors will show 1 or 2 cores stuck at 100% while the others fluctuate wildly. Download speed falls to almost nothing with occasional blips or nothing. I checked several sites and they all have the same problem. I have checked my physical connections, and bios settings.
There is an option for a RS780 Azalia controller 1 output Digital Stereo (HDMI) output, but I have not been able to make it work since the system was new. I don't know why.
This is the most recent SYSLOG file. The pulse audio errors have always been there, but since it didn't seem to affect playback, I didn't run it down.

I'm using Ubuntu and my sound was working fine and then suddenly it just stopped working.
It does however, have odd spells where its working (for like 2 minutes) but those spells are few and far between. So basically the sound is not working.
When it isn't working my speaker seem to be making these hissing/screeching noises.
I've tried looking up on Google on how to fix it, i.e. running terminals, etc. but still haven't come round to fixing it. Could someone explain to me how to fix the sound please?
And no, the speakers aren't on mute. I checked volume control and everything is full.

I have been using Skype 2.2 beta on Ubuntu 11.04 using a Logitech 260 camera/microphone -- all with excellent results -- for the past couple of weeks.Today, for some reason unknown to me, my Skype contacts began telling me that my audio was nearly unintelligible, though I had no problem hearing them. I initially thought the problem was at their end; but then I did a test call and listened to the play-back of my own voice recording, and it was awful. It's sounds like I'm speaking under water with a buzzing sound in the background, and the words are barely audible.I wish somebody could tell me what's going on. I was trying to use it on skype and it did nothing, although the program recognises I have a webcam, I tried cheese and the power light on my webcam comes on but again the screen does nothing.

However the track numbers are all wrong and some things are garbled. MSC mode, which I used in the past, shows the Fuze and card both in Rhythmbox and on the desktop. However it's in read only mode.

Two days ago connected my laptop and TV, in order to use the TV as a second monitor, to watch a football match (I only have IPTV). Only thing I had to do was to go to System -> Preferences -> Sound and switch (in the hardware tab) my Internal Audio Hardware from Analog Stereo Duplex to Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output + Analog Stereo Input.
So after the match I switched it back to Analog Stereo Duplex and proceeded to skype with my girlfriend. Problem was, the mic stopped working. It works just fine in 'Input' tab of my sound preferences, as well as in sound recorder. She, in skype, heard nothing but static. Test call doesn't work either. Now I've done all the usual stuff, Skype isn't allowed to automatically adjust mixer levels and my mic is already boosted. I've reinstalled skype and everything. I'm running out of ideas.
I recently installed ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) on my new laptop. Sound was working just fine until today morning, when all of a sudden no sound would come out of my system. It is not a hardware problem as sound is working fine on windows.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter a successful upgrade to lucid, everything was going GREAT (including FINALLY having surround output) until now all of the sudden music files won't play... When I double-click a file, Totem opens automatically, and it says it's playing,but there's no sound and the bar does not move across at the bottom. In VLC, the bar moves like it's playing, but there is still no sound. Doesn't work when I hover the cursor over a file, either. In previous versions of Ubuntu, a simple reboot would fix this, but that doesn't work with Lucid... Online streaming works fine.

I've been using 8.04 on an old laptop for quite a while and have been able to watch encrypted DVDs, as I have installed all the proper drivers.
But suddenly, every time I insert an encrypted DVD, it will mount and I can see the name of it and browse the files, but neither MPlayer nor VLC will play it.
I know the drive works, because if I boot into XP I can watch them there.
I already tried reinstalling the drivers and am out of ideas.
openSUSE 11.2 with KDE desktop, I have been using vlc to play .flv files without any difficulty or problems for months but it has suddenly stopped giving me any image on screen. The video is "running" according to progress bar and there is sound but just a black screen. Trouble is I cannot pin this down to any particular update so I am asking if anybody else has had this happen? I have run 1 click install multimedia and there were a few files updated but still no picture. I shall have to go through all the multimedia chacks and no time right now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install of 11.04 and I have experienced that my separate X-screen does not have the program-name bar with the minimize, close-buttons etc. It's my third monitor is a separate X and it does not really work since I cant close programs, maximize windows or move them around. I cant even write anything on it. The first two monitors work great as one X-screen, just as they did in 10.10. Ubuntu Classic, no Unity. Two monitors (one X) on a ATI HD6970 One monitor (the X-screen that doesn't work properly) on a ATI HD4870
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using debian squeeze and did an aptitude upgrade yesterday. Today I've found that VLC won't play any video; the files open and the audio plays, but the video is black. The aptitude log is below.
I note that VLC received a security upgrade a few days ago, but my suspicion is that the source of this problem is more likely to be the upgrade of libavcodec52 from version 4:0.5.2.6 -> 5:0.6.1+svn20101128-0.2. I believe this upgrade came from the debian-multimedia stable repo I have enabled.
Does this sound right, and what could I do to fix my VLC playback? This is new territory for me, and I'm slightly surprised that such an upgrade would come from the stable branch of debian-multimedia (although I know this is not an official source).
