Ubuntu :: Mask/Alter Mac Address From Connections Coming Through Proxy

I have a local proxy server running on my computer, but I want to add a twist to it. I have multiple connections going through the proxy, but what I'd like to is that all outgoing connections Mac Address' will be different from the one the connecting systems. Mask or even alter them, if possible.
Yes, I know the idea itself sounds weird, but I'm attempting a few ideas for a project I'm working and I ran in to this problem. Please note that it's impossible for me to change the MAC Address' on the systems connecting through the proxy (they're gaming consoles, to be specific.)

My task is, to set up a(nother) server for our server room. Access is difficult, closed doors, remote location, etc. Therefore my idea was, to install, configure, etc. everything in my office. Since the server will have to work in the DMZ, I can't do much in my office; I have no DMZ-address here. Therefore I was thinking of 'forwarding' the future IP-address in the DMZ, let's say 10.10.10.1/24, from a stub machine placed in the server room into my office. I wonder how to do this most favourable.
So I think port-forwarding around 10 ports with ten ssh sessions would be neither clever, nor elegant. I wonder if it is possible to directly forward everything coming into an IP address directly instead? Or should I try VPN?
I have a small business that I run Squid and Dansguardian on Ubuntu for network proxy filtering, among other things. This works great, but does not block SSL connections on Port 443, such as https proxies. I understand that this is because this type of configuration is a "transparent proxy".
Is there a way to set one up "non-transparent" and, would that filter https?
I cannot blanket block 443, because some sites need it.
I have read that one can re-compile Squid to work with SSL, but not being a super guru, not sure of the implications of doing that.
I use Fedora 14 and Firefox as my web browser. I use Astrill VPN service. I have the following persistent problem: I start my computer. Astrill is not set to start on boot. I start Firefox. Firefox can not connect to anything, it says 'proxy server refusing connections'. I go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Network>Settings I click the radio button 'no proxy'. The problem remains. I am completely unable to connect to the net. Even on reboot, I cannot connect. On reboot, Firefox is set to use a proxy, although it was not on shutdown. Some init script is setting this. My normal connection is often faster than through Astrill, so I only really need to use it when I want to get at a website that is blocked by the govt here in China.
where Firefox is being told to use a proxy, and how to reset it to not use a proxy, assuming Astrill is not active. There must be something left in a .conf file somewhere which is overriding the settings in Edit>Preferences. Because, if I set it now to 'no proxy', I cannot connect to the net.
The "Revese proxy" has two IP, one for local and another for outside.I've tried with iptables, but unable.Now I'm trying with "redir".When I do a tnsping database, it works and says OK. But executing sqlplus user/pass@database, it tries to connect but time later I receive a timeout. What i do is a redir from port 1521 in "Reverse proxy" to 1521 in "Oracle database" why this doesn't work or any other way to do it?
I'm having making network/internet connection with my laptop. I have:Toshiba 1415 S173laptop NetGear WG511T pcmcia card using madwifiNetGear WPNT511 pcmcia card using windows driver via ndiswrapperSlackware 12.2In both cases the card is recognized, and I can get a list of access points with iwlist.I can set the card to connect to the desired access point. I can use dhclient to get an ip address from the remote dhcp server. This works, the card is assigned a valid ip address on the desired network.Once I do this, however, I cannot access any network resources, no Internet, and no other devices on the network can see, ping, or access my laptop. It does this with with both cards, using madwifi or the windows driver via ndiswrapper.
I need to create two Access Control Lists for my networks using SQUID proxy. The ip address range from 165.165.42.10 to 165.165.42.50 for one network and from 165.165.42.60 to 165.165.42.90 for another network. How can I make it?
I had had my internet connection working using PPPoE, but after I did some tweaking and configuring on the machine (configuring Samba), I wasn't able to connect to the internet and on the syslog said:Code:Cannot determine ethernet address for proxy ARPI'm using dynamic IP address on my internet account. have a problem with my network-manager in ubuntu 10.10.when I dial one of my vpn connections, my other vpn connections be disabled and I can't use them!I tried to restart network-manager and gnome-panel, but it does't seem to solve this problem.
while configuring the yum through proxy i was configures with some address(10.x.x.x). after the proxy address has been changed(172.x.x.x).according to new proxy address i made changes in all locations in my system. but when i am trying to download through command line still it is trying to connect old proxy address(10.x.x.x). finally i come to know that, still some location old proxy address (10.x.x.x).is there.

My college providers shifted to a different setting.. I'm not sure what needs to be done. On windows, under the connections tab you need to change the proxy settings and put in the IP address and enter the port to 3000. Questions:
1. where lies the linux (ubuntu 10.04) variant to execute the operation.
2. What can be the major obligations of such a change?
I am sure its siimple enough, but I can't get my net to work properly. The connection provided to the internet is through wireless routers.
I am using CentOS 5.5, I installed squid3 in that machine. From my users machine i am not able to use our webmail address. Outlook shows pop3 error.cannot ping webmail address inside proxy.
So Im newish to computing, and new to anything network/linux related.Situation: yesterday I installed Privoxy and it was working great (verified via Privoxy.org). Starting today while at a coffee shop i go the error "the proxy server is refusing connections". All of my settings are what they were yesterday and the default:

i have uninstalled and reinstalled alsa and made sure its not muted, in pulse audio it displays sound is coming out when i play a song, but no sound is actually coming out.. i dont want to go back to windows, but if i cant get sound im going to have to
How can I add this to Ubuntu so that I can effectively use both networks connected to my machine. All I do in WinXP is run this from the command prompt: route -p add 10.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0 10.15.122.9
Basically ubuntu 10.04 did an upgrade about a month ago, since then, GNOME has been playing up - it just displays in the default 'theme' rather than the one ubuntu style i choose. secondly, there is no facility to manage the windows on screen - by that i mean to close minimise/maximise windows or even drag them round the screen as the 'border' around the application isnt there.Im using xfce as a workaround at the moment , but would like to get GNOME sorted if possible for what its worth this is on my compaq nx9005 laptop, upgrades at the same time on my main pc didnt suffer the same fate.
Is it fair to say that connLimit and hashlimit are very similiar on Linux i.e. while hashlimit caters to limits for groups of ports, they both set the connection rate limit per host? How in IPTables, do I configure a policy that limits connections on a port that encapsulates the total sum of all connections from all hosts? i.e. I do not want to allow more than 6000conn/minute for port range that is the sum of all connecting hosts?
I just installed a OpenSuse 11.4 box. Now when I do a 'ls -l' I see the date format different than on all my other boxes even though I have identical regional settings. Is there a way (env var) to control this behaviour ?
I want to extract some information from ifconfig, E.g.: inet addr:123.123.123.123 Bcast:123.123.123.255 Mask:255.255.254.0 I want to extract the mask value, how can I do that? I've tried using Code: grep -o "Mask:*" test1.txt but it only outputs "Mask:" I need to get 255.255.254.0

I recently installed Fedora 15 now, and during installation I set the internet connection manually, then did update and after reboot, the internet connection settings have been removed. Now I can not set because the network connection to the Internet Connection is inactive. I mention that before the update was functional internet connection.
I have a setup samba and want to get the correct security permissions when my wife creates / copies files from her camera onto the shared/mapped drive on her new laptop (windows 7) I want the permissions set to 770 or maybe 760. See my config below.
Now I can get it to create 760 but even if I change the mask it still generates the same permissions. After every change I restart the samba service. the umask is still 0022, do not know if that makes a difference? The directory permission's are correct with this mask. Do I need to look at groups?
Still working on the mask of files for shared folder. So the dropped file have execution rights for the group, and read access for other. I expected it to have the same rights than the file created directly using the touch command. I tried to play with the mask options, without success. The file has been dropped from my mac, which is a Unix like OS. I guess that some authorization access are inherited from the original file, for the user and other parts. But where does the group authorization come from ? Moreover, is is possible to define in samba a default mask, whatever the authorization of the original file?
