I am trying to do the cluster storage with the Rock Cluster storage operating system . I have install the rock cluster on the main server . and I want to connect the client with the PXE boot . when I starting the client then it boot from the PXE boot into the mode of compute node. but it ask the where is to be stored the I have give the path..then server says that not able to find the directory path.
Steps:-
1) insert-ethers
2) client is started with the PXE boot.
3) it detects the dhcp .
4) At last it demand where is to be started by cd-rom, harddisk ,nfs etc.
then I started with the nfs and I have given the lanIp of server.and server is detecting the client but client is not finding the filesystem directory. into export partition directory but it is not taking path.
PATH:-
/export/rock/install it is not finding this path then it is not able to start the o/s from PXE boot..Is there any solution and manual of rock or anyother solution then u can reply to me...
I'd like to learn it. So I installed lenny & grub2, after that win7, reconfigured grub2, upgraded to squeeze. All is fine, but I cant start working in Debian as I can work only in Windows. So I decided to use qemu to emulate win7 booting. I have sda1, sda2 for squeeze; sda3 and sda4 for win7. If I try "qemu /dev/sda3" I get disk read error. If I try "qemu /dev/sda" I have grub 2 boot screen and when continue booting win7 I get "Ramdisk device creation failed due to insufficient memory" (as screen on [UR:]). I tried to use m -1024 parameter and got screen with "Windows load files" and reboot to grub2 screen/
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my HP desktop, but I'm running an older version (8.10) on a live CD so I can at least get online to ask for some When I tried to log on earlier it went to a command prompt and said the 'file system check failed' and to run fsck manually. I entered 'sudo fsck' at the prompt and I selected "y" to fix all the bad inodes, when it was complete it told me to restart, I then entered 'sudo restart' at the prompt and it said 'sudo uuid unknown'. I have not installed anything recently and I'm not sure what to do.

i have redhat linux 5 (2.6.18-53.el5) and i am trying to install davmail as mail client for MS exchange mail system. i am trying to install davmail latest i.e 3.6.6-1032 x86 version. i installed java 1.6. and excuted java -version. it showed me correct version. i.e java 1.6. but when i ran ./davmail.sh it gave me following message it opened port 389 and the next message was DEBUG (checkrelease) davmail: unable to get released version what could be the problem

I considered UEC, but many do not support hardware virtualization and all I really need is storage. Over all the machines, I estimate that I have 4-5 terabytes of storage, all going to waste because each one has relatively low storage space. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 500GB external drive I want to use on a couple of Linux systems, and looking for a filesystem for it. External drives are frequently formatted in FAT32, but I don't need to interoperate with Windows and would rather avoid the ugly limited kludge that is FAT.
Since I only need to use it on Linux, I would use ext4 or XFS, but they store ownership information. Ideally, I'd use a proper Unix file system that doesn't track ownership (files are owned by whoever mounts the device, like they are when mounting a FAT32 partition), but I do not know of any file system that does that.What would be a good file system for this disk?

I have a Linux application(ProMAX 5000) running in a virtual Machine on my windows OS. I am using an external Hard drive of 250G in ext2 file system as my device for large data read, write & execute file system. I have already mounted the device from /etc/fstab. But i want my application to access this device as a Primary data storage device OR Secondary storage device. What command will i invoke to partition this 250G drive as my primary or secondary storage device.

I've got a problem with my 3G modem [Huawei E122].
It has internal storage and kernel assigns a device [/dev/sdX] to it.
Because of that, every second time my machine will not boot - kernel panic - as my usb hdd gets assigned /dev/sdb instead of /dev/sda.
I cannot use LABEL nor UUID in root= kernel parameter, as it is only available when using initrd, and I can't use it - I am using Debian on my router - mips architecture machine.
I have to prevent this from happening, as my router has to start everyday and I have to be sure it works ok. I don't have physical access to restart it when something goes wrong.
I don't use my modem internal storage, there's no SD card inserted. However kernel detects the reader and loads it.
I can not prevent loading od usb drivers since my hdd is on USB as well.
I was working recently on a perl program on our ftp server (box is running SuSE, I belive v9.3) designed to email a warning if the mountpoint to our backup machine could not be mounted. A couple of other programs, month-end critical, took me away from that for a while. I got back to it today, only to discover that I cannot even send the messages anymore (before, I could send, but I was having trouble interpreting the results I was sending).
The program is using MIME::Lite for its mailsending function. The actual error message I am receiving is

The line in question is the actual $msg->send command.
I have good reason to believe that the environment for this has changed; during the time I was working on other projects, our office phone setup was replaced and refined with an ethernet-connected setup installed by the company that provides our mailing services (and presumably network services in general, although I do not know this for a fact). I know that we were having email troubles with some of our month-end scripts after that, which required our main server's DNS values to be changed...but those errors were not the same as the one I am getting on this machine.
Is this simply going to be as easy as changing the DNS settings on our FTP box, and if not, where is the best place to start digging for more information?

I run OSX on my everyday computer so this is not me sending out stuff since the above mail says Microsoft Outlook express has sent it (?) Running a Debian Squeeze server. And I really dont get any other spam due to exim4u setup and spamassasin.
I finally managed to install lubuntu onto this old laptop, and I noticed it came with "Sylpheed mail client" integrated into lubuntu-desktop. I entered in my name, username, and password, and pop3.live.com for the incoming mail (pop3 server), and smtp.live.com for the outgoing mail (smtp server), but whenever I attempt to get mail for my windows live email account the connection fails.
How do I make it not-fail?

When I check my disk space using either disk usage analyzer or Gparted it says I have about 69 gigs left. But say I am in a folder on the bottom of the window it will tell me I only have 48 gigs. And just to test I tried going over the amount specified in the folder window and it tells me I have insufficient space.

To fix the insufficient inodes issue on a FS shouldn't be involved File System extend or House Keeping of existing File system.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've installed Netbook Remix on a partition on my Advent 4211 (MSI Wind clone) XP netbook. It is the first time I have ever used Linux, apart from abortive efforts to install various distros on an old laptop a few years ago (wifi wouldn't work).
(1) I am a touch-typist and would like to set the Shift key to RELEASE the CapsLock, as on old manual and electric typewriters, which is how my other Windows keyboards are set to operate, but the nearest option (out of so many ) in Ubuntu seems to be "Pause CapsLock", which is no good.
(2) I need to DISABLE the touchpad - the nearest option seems to be "Disable while typing" - inadequate for me, trailing thumbs are causing havoc I like this OS (it seems especially neat with the latest Chrome) but those two "shortcomings" are constant nuisances.
I am trying to transfer 3 AVI files of about 650MB each to a video DVD to be used standalone in a DVD player with TV. When I start creating the Video DVD project, I drag my 2GB of files into the project window, Brasero recognizes the blank DVD as having 4GB, but then reports there is insufficient space to burn the selected files and do I want to use multiple discs. Running Ubuntu 10.04, and have accepted all automatic updates as they come out.
