I am trying to stop my left click from moving the window. This is not Meta + Left click but just simple Left click in the area marked with blue. It happens if I Left click drag on the Titlebar as well. I have tried setting 'Nothing' for Meta + Left click setting shown in the image but the behaviour continues.
Is this a bug or can I stop this somehow ?
Bluefish seems to crash whenever I drag the side window all the way to the left. I'm using it on windows 7 mostly just curious to see if this also happens on Linux and maybe what could be causing it. That's the error message I get This application has caused Runtime to quit in an unusual way

Description of Problem:There is another thread that discussed this same problem that I'm having: However that thread is so old that the suggestions in it no longer work in Ubuntu 10.04 and for whatever reason I can not make a reply to that thread.As in the above thread, I've tried other input devices and rebooting the computer and using other USB ports, and my mouse still intermittently double left clicks randomly at times when I've only clicked the left mouse button once and at times and places when it should only produce a single click such as when selecting a drop down menu.
Has any one else had this problem, and does any one have any idea how to fix it or to trouble shoot this a bit more? Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to further clarify or troubleshoot this issue.
When I used Karmic, I only had to use gconf-editor to set the titlebar widgets to the left once, and they stayed there when I changed themes, no matter what theme I set. Since I installed Lucid, every time I change themes (other than to radiance or ambiance), my titlebar widgets are moved from the upper left to the upper right, and I have to use gconf-edit or to switch them back to the way they were. Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it?

Everything work pretty well except i cant use the effects like rain, fire, wobbly window or drag my window into another one of my desktop. My comp has Radeon HD3100 Graphics card in it. View 3 Replies View Relatedi had a bunch of documents opened and i saved one txt file. I then clicked it and dragged it to the recycle bin slowly but didnt release the button. Then the cursor just stayed like that. The cursor changed image while i was dragging it. It now remains as that image for the cursor. I can move it around but cannot click anything. If i press Alt Tab to switch to another window, it just highlights that file. I cant move about on the desktop either.

I have a Dell Vostro 1220, with Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphics card. I work on OpenSuse 11.3 (64bit), on the latest kde.I work on an extended 1680x1050 screen on the left of my laptop screen (1280x800). I set this with Kxrandr and it worked great,a while... Now, it shows a black band on the right side of my laptop screen. I can live with that. But the mouse does not recalculate for this difference, so that I need to click 1 inch to the right of where I want to click.
View 2 Replies View Relatedthing I did when I installed 10.04 was to re-arrange my icons. I clicked on the first and started to drag. The icon did not move, and nautilus was using 94% of my cpu for a good 15-20 seconds before gtk-window-decorator was using 95-100% of my cpu for a few more seconds. Finally, after a few more unsuccessful tries with the same results, I was able to move the icons.
I assumed this was a bug in nautilus, however the same thing occurred in Chrome when I tried to re-arrange my bookmarks, and the same thing in gnome-panel. The only thing in common I see is gtk-window-decorator.
I have been looking for a solution to middle or right click dragging an archive to extract it to another folder without any success. It appears this question seems to be asked many times without a single response from anyone.

How to change the color of the click-and-drag selection box that is used to select icons on the desktop? (Lucid has the "human" orange color by default, but I'd like to change it if possible.)

Hi, I have had a frustrating problem for the past few months where performing a 'left-mouse-button-drag' operation (i.e. holding down on a scroll bar, drawing a line in a graphics application, connecting a wire in Labview) will often fail to acknowledge when the mouse button is released by the user. The OS continues to believe the button is being held down (as far as I can tell). From this point, *sometimes* the mouse button might release if I ctrl+alt+del or right click around the place, but mostly I need to restart openSUSE to fix the issue. This occurs every 10 minutes or so, and after searching for a solution for the past few months, I now write in hope that this is a known issue, and there is a solution. Of course the problem could be with VMWare, but I have also Mandriva, DSL and Puppy Linuz installed, and none show this same problem.
I'm trying to manipulate the existing windows from within a python script similar to the BASH wmctrl. I've got the basics down with PyWnck, but I need to be able to tell when a window is actively being dragged (or just when the title bar is being clicked). I doubt this is a wnck function. direction of the right python package?
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I adjusted the position of the windows controls back to what it was before, by using the configuration editor to set apps / metacity / general / button layout to "menu:minimize,maximize,close". At the time everything seemed good, the buttons moved, and it all worked. This morning I rebooted back into Lucid Lynx Ubuntu 64 bit, and now I find there are no controls on the windows, and I cannot even click and drag them, or double click the title bar to maximize! I checked, and the string I altered is still the same. I can still move windows with Alt-F7 and the mouse, and can resize by dragging out the bottom right corner.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy system boots, I login and am brought to my desktop. I click on the file system icon in the launcher to open a Nautilus window. The window opens, but is unresponsive (i.e., I can't move it, clicking on the icons does nothing, etc.). If I press the super key to get the dash and the press escape, the window becomes responsive again, just like normal.
If I open a folder in the window, the window becomes halfway unresponsive in that I can't move the window, but I can select more folders and toolbar icons. The top menu no longer appears at this point, and I can't access any of the system icons on the top right of the screen. Alt-F4 closes the window even if the close button doesn't work.As another example, suppose I open a Nautilus window and then a Chromium window. Both are immediately unresponsive. If I super-esc again, I can move the Chromium window around, and it seems to work normally. I can click on the Nautilus window, but it always stays greyed out. Even if I'm clicking on things in it, the Chromium window always has focus.
I had a similar experience to this with VLC and Chromium. After clicking around enough I eventually got it to the point where VLC apparently always had focus, but I couldn't access any of VLC's controls. Double clicking anywhere on the screen fullscreened the video, and that's all I could really do. Not even escape worked to bring it back.I can usually press super to get the dash and Alt-F2 to get a command prompt. Also Alt-Shift-T seems to usually work to bring up a working Terminal (at least one that accepts commands, even if I can't move the window).Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? The behavior is highly unpredictable and extremely frustrating. I should note that key commands don't always work, even though they seem to in my examples. So I don't think it's just a mouse issue.
How would you make a window drag'n'drop? I have hidden the title bar using:

But I still want this window to be moveable, by clicking and dragging anywhere within the window. I would rather just use pyGTK, but Xlib is fine with me as well.
Is there a way to disable window drag from within the window? I mean, I want the window to be movable only from the title bar. But now even if you drag the window from the content, the drag action is fired.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 10.10 with Gnome 2.30.2 desktop environment. When I drag a window it only shows the outline of the window while doing that. How can I change the settings so that not just the outline but the whole window still shows while I'm dragging it.

Since I have upgraded to to 10.10, I've noticed that I can no longer drag programs to another desktop. Somehow this setting must have been disabled. How does one reactive this setting? (I'm guessing its Compiz related...)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally got 10.04 installed and I am loving it so far! Very quick! But I do have some nuance 'problems'. Here is one for I can not find a solution. In previous versions of Ubuntu, I was able to click on my touchpad with two fingers that replicated a right-left click to open a link in a new tab. Now it raises a popup menu in the browser asking how to open the link.
I have tried this in Chrome, Opera and Firefox and have the same issue in all browsers, which leads me to believe this may be a Gnome setting. How do I change this behaviour? There was nothing in the mouse preferences to change this.
I'am new here because usually it's easy to find soluce to problems on unbuntu with google but this time i don't know how to find I was using gscan2pdf and without any explanation the button i've attached to this message appears, i can move it by clic/move, but I can't supress it left clic nothing right clic nothing, i don't know from which app it comes it is always over other windows. View 3 Replies View RelatedI did an internet upgrade last night and right around then I think I also got a little liquid around the touch-pad of my laptop and now the left click won't work in Ubuntu on either my touch-pad OR mouse so I am not sure if maybe the connection for the left click on the touch-pad is shorted causing it to stay "clicked" which somehow disables the left click on the mouse... On my windows xp partition(which I am using now) I am able to use the left click on the mouse but still not the touchpad... Anyway I am wondering if there is a way to disable to touchpad via console or some other way to get around this so I can back my important docs and files and then "mouse" it till I can get a new laptop.

However, I have a problem: When I press any of the 'special' keys on the keyboard (Vol up, down, mute, and various others), the left-click on my mouse disables. I'm using a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000, which has a lot of special keys (and the f keys are special by default), so I've been having trouble not disabling my mouse. Anyone know what the problem is, how to resolve it? And on top of that, how do I make the special keys work?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed my hard drive with 10.04 running Gnome into a "new" computer with an Intel dual core CPU. Everything seems to work fine except that my USB mouse won't left-click within applications. It works OK on the desktop to open or close applications, but, besides a visual affect when I click, nothing works within windows.
This occurs even after switching to a PS2 mouse...I've also discovered that right-clicking on the desktop produces nothing at all and right-clicking within an application produces the "maximize/minimize" menu - as though the mouse was hovering over the frame controls.
I can think of a lot of different situations when being able to "autoclick" would be really useful. By autoclick, I mean that I want to be able to hold down the left-click button and have it rapidly clickity clickity clickity as fast as the processor can handle.
One example is games where I have a semi-automatic weapon and I have to hammer the mouse button with my finger. It would be nicer to reduce the wear and tear on my trackpad.
My eeepc 900 works well in general, i am very happy with it, and mostly with lucid. But I suddenly ,3 days ago, discovered that my left click button doesn't work anymore. Could it be software related?It happened on my 700 surf for a little while, but before I could really get worked up, it had resolved itself. btw my 900 is maybe old but has not till I aquired it seen much use, I doubt it could be from overuse, but then again, you never know..
