Ubuntu :: Latest Empathy Breaks MeMenu Notifications

I'm on 10.04.I was curious to see the new features implemented (mainly geo-location) in Empathy, so I added their PPA and did an update. After updating, the notifications for Empathy become separated from the MeMenu (separate icons, no 'Chat' option is specified when I click the MeMenu), although I can still update my status by clicking on my user name.Does anyone know how to integrate the new Empathy back into MeMenu? If not, how can I roll back to the previous Empathy version that works with MeMenu?

When I receive an instant message from someone and I click on the mail icon and click on their message to open it, their message is multiplied. For instance, if someone says:"Hey, what's up?"
And I click on their message to open it in the messaging menu, this is what will appear: "Hey, what's up? Hey, what's up?"...Take a look at the screenshot to see this in action. This happens in Empathy on Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit.

I like the bubble notifications when someone sends me a message.. but they're so slow. If someone sends me a lot of messages in one minute, they'll take a few minutes for a bubble with each message to popup.. and there's no way to close it and tell it to shut up..Is there anything I can do about this?

I was excited to use empathy in 10.04; however, both in the Beta and the Full Release I experience the following. (Note: I'm using 64 bit.)Setup 'Wizard' adds GTalk and Facebook Chat just fine.Manually add a IRC account (can't do that from wizard).Manually add a SIP account.Enjoy that it's working, and think that the full release fixed the bug.Disconnect
Then the next day.Set status as available.Get an ambiguous 'network-error' for GTalk and Facebook.Disable all accounts.Restart empathy, enable GTalk, get same error.Delete all accounts, restart system, go through account 'wizard', add GTalk, same error.Upgrade to dev version of Empathy, notice it's no longer in the nice messaging applet, but GTalk connects.Disconnect/Reconnect - same error.
Anyone else having this problem? Seems something is breaking with Jabber on Empathy. But I can't find any related information. I'll post logs when I boot into the 10.04 installation (which I was hoping to switch to, but not so sure right now.)

I installed Chromium via a repo generously maintained by Tom "Spot" Callaway. Since it's his repo I thought I'd contact him, but I don't really know how - so I'm brining my issue to the forum to see if anyone has a possible solution.I've been using Tom's Chromium fine for the past couple months. After a "yum update", Flash no longer works in Chromium. It works in Firefox. If I try to play any Flash videos it's just a blank box.

On my HP i7 based laptop the latest kernel 2.6.33-147 and possibly Nouveau/X.org seems to have broken suspend. ie If the laptop is suspended then when woke, the screen is dead and networking does not work and I cannot change to a different console.If I boot the previous kernel this behaviour does not occur.

Besides being RIDICULOUSLY big, i don't need them

I miss seeing my picture in the MeMenu. Now that I've upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10, I notice it doesn't display there anymore. Does anyone know how I can add this feature back in? Not sure why this was removed, I thought it looked nice with the picture there.

I have installed ubuntu 10.04 yesterday. I also placed the indicator-applet to my top panel.
My question is: It is lacking the textbox. I see every detail that should be there in the menu, except for the input-textbox. Can anyone tell me how I can get this back?
I've been searching the forums, but could not find a solution (nor anyone else having this problem, though I remembered someone else stating the same issue before I experienced it, but I couldn't find it back... must be murphy's law )

Most of the times I open a program (either Evolution or Liferea) from the MeMenu, it appears shifted below. By this I mean that, even if the window is maximized, it does not reach the panel, leaving a strip where one can see behind. But, when one tries to click on anything, it behaves like if the window was in place.So, in order to click on some area, I have to aim some 50px or so above it. Of course this is not very comfortable. Stangely enough, this does no happen if I get the focus of Evolution or Liferea by some other means, such as Alt+Tab or clicking on the sidebar.

If I go to the website and download the ISO file is it the exact same one that was released in April or will it contain the latest patches (e.g. security fixes, etc) that have been release since then? If it doesn't I suppose I'll have to download the entire ISO file, install the OS, and then have another couple hundred MB to download which is not what I'd prefer.

Does anyone know how to get this back? I started using 10.04 this weekend and was playing around with the new "MeMenu" and removed it from the menu bar. Now I can't seem to get it back. Its not found when I try to add to the panel and it isn't part of the Gwibber app anywhere either.
Or is there a way to just restore the bar to its default? I lost my logoff/shutdown menu button on the far right when I did that too.

I recently upgraded from Kubuntu 9.10 to 10.04, and I've noticed that all my KDE notifications now appear at the top of the screen, in the middle. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an easy way to fix it?

Is there a way to log the notifications that show up in the desktop? For example:
a)When pidgin notifies you that you have a new message can you "save" that notification?
b)When transmission informs you that a torrent finished downloading can you log that notification?
Or if you can't log them can you make a script that "catches" those notifications? What I want to do is that when a certain notification pops it triggers an app or a script. So if I can log the notifications I can "watch" for changes in the log file and trigger something; or if can "catch" the notification I could also do that. I think it can, somehow, be done with d-bus but I can't find my way around the documentation.

I use pidgin for IRC regularly and am wondering if there is a way for it to show notifications when others talk?
I have "others talk in chat" selected for the sound notifications, but I'd really like it to use the visual notifications (the notification applet?), like it does when I'm chatting with someone over IM. Is that possible?

How can I change the positions for the notifications? It is at a weired place after installing 10.4 and I need to move it. I have been googling about it and it seems like the position is hard coded in the source code, can this really be true? If it is, I am starting to question my decision to use Ubuntu. How can i serous skilled developer hard code something like that in the source code? Can I trust the developer to know what he is doing?

I can't figure out for my life how to turn off notifications in Pidgin Internet Messenger. I have looked all over in the Preferences menu for a way but can't find anything. It is killing me because every time someone logs in to Facebook or MSN or whatever, I get this popup at the top-right corner of my screen.

When something comes in that gets sent straight to my junk mail folder, a notification STILL pops up... Also of note, I would like to stop notifications for my RSS feeds... I love my RSS feeds but this is ridiculous.

I've noticed when someone calls attention to my name in xchat or if I get an instant message, I don't get a notification about it unless I happen to go into the dash. Then I see someone highlighted my name or instant messaged me. Is anybody else having this?
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 with the Gnome 3 PPA.
