I'm using "Xubuntu" on a bit dell laptop, i have installed everything i see to do with Java in the software center and in the synaptic package manager and no Java sites work sill i have downloaded every package from adobe for Linux and after extracting them to my desktop and clicking on them it dose nothing Ive tried a few lines in the terminal but always have a destination error..
Just created a partition to run Ubuntu 10.04. Need to execute an Xcel spreadsheet that requires Linux and a JRE from Java. ATT is my DSL provider, but they do not support Linux, so I have no internet connectivity. I downloaded JAVA 6.0 from another machine and attempted to load it - with no success. Two days of no success! I run OS X and Windows 7, but Linux is new to me. I'm trying, but I'm missing something.
I use openSUSE 11.4 64 bits, KDE and FireFox 5.0. I regularly update. When trying to reach my bank, I get the following error: Code: icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk/jre/bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. Is there anything I can do to remediate ? Does IcedTea everything that Java does?
I have a 64 bit Karmic system with two drives. One is mounted as / and the other is mounted as /home. I just put the video card from my system into my son's system and got a new video card. (Don't see how it's related but still...)Now I am getting the following message when I turn on the system. code...
I did some disk operations on NTFS and FAT volumes. It worked well. When I wanted to shutdown from the right upper corner icon, I got a black screen saying: (process:272) GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with all the updates. I'm in an NFS/NIS networked environment. My mounts eventually work, but mountall fails with this message in /var/log/boot.log: mount.nfs: Failed to resolve server myservername: Name or service not known
Here's the entry in /etc/fstab: myservername:/nfs/share/path /mount/path nfs rw,_netdev,bg,hard,intr,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 0 0
Here's the host entry in /etc/hosts: 123.45.678.901myservername
I've noticed that mountall seems to be trying to mount my share before it has network access.
I started up my computer and this is what it said: Mount of file system failed.A maintenance shell will now be started.CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and re-try.root@Gifted:~#The only part I recognize is the name of my computer; Gifted
I know that there are multiple threads with problems like this, but still i didn't found my answer.
The situation is like this: I have a local server and a remote server, i did a ssh key swap so i can log on to the remote server with no problems (automatically logging on, no need to enter pass or login). I've made a script that copies (with SCP) a file FROM the REMOTE server TO the LOCAL server (NOT FROM the LOCAL server to the REMOTE server !!!!), and then i get an error like code...
I have a Dell Precision 330 with (the latest) A09 BIOS and 1 TB SATA hard drive. There is a SATA-IDE converter between the SATA HD and the ATA133 cable. The OS was Window XP Professional SP3.
When adding RH Enterprise Linux 6 onto the computer, I created two additional partitions, one 400 GB for Linux's storage and a 10 GB swap space. I chose Window XP as the default OS.
After the installation, when the system started up, I can hit a key to have two optional OS: Window XP and Linux. If I chose Linux, the system would boot up. If I chose Window XP, the boot failed with a message that windowssystem32configsystem was missing or corrupted. I read some articles that the problem can be fixed in window's recovery console with fixboot. After entering the fixboot command and restarting the computer, Window XP still failed to boot with an error message that another file was missing.
I thought I might have made some mistakes in the installation procedure and it would be cleaner to reinstall both OS. So I tried to install Window XP Professional again. Unfortunately, after booting from Window XP CD and formating the MBR and copying the window XP files, the computer can not restart with the installed XP. Instead, the computer boot from Window XP's CD repeatedly. If I remove Window XP's CD, the computer simply can not boot at all.
I began to wonder whether RH's Enterprise Linux made some change on the MBR of the HD that Window XP can not format.
I have an apache web server with php 5.3 and I need to connect to a webservice I set up in sqlserver 2008 Both servers are in the intranet. If from my browser I write http://192.168.2.2/internet?wsdl I am prompted for a user and a password, which are those of a windows user with permissions to connect to the ws. After writing them I can see the XML file in my browser.
the php file is code...
I've tried variations in the url, the user, with and without password, with no luck I've googled a lot, with no luck
I have a Dell Inspiron 1721. Recently I replaced Windows Vista Home Edition (32 bit) with Slackware Linux 13.
Lilo wouldn't work, when I turned on the computer it printed "Li" and then 20 lines of 090909... and then the computer would hang up. So I just used my Slackware-boot-flashdrive-thing that I created during installation to boot my computer and told myself that I would fix it later.
Also, when I installed, cfdisk (or it might have been sfdisk) complained that /dev/sda did not contain a valid MS-DOS partition table. fdisk still worked, so I used it to create a new table, and cfdisk worked fine and the installation went along normally.
I reinstalled Slackware about two days later (I realized that I had installed the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit). Lilo still didn't work.
I thought it might be something wrong with the Slackware DVD, so I downloaded and attempted to install about 4 different distributions. None of the CDs would work. The computer would start up, Linux would start to load, and the computer would freeze.
Xubuntu was the only distro I had that I could get to install. Halfway through the installation, (Surprise!) I got an error, something like "Package Grub failed to install, you will not be able to boot your new operating system".
The rest of the install went fine, so I restarted my computer and tried to use another one of my CDs to boot Xubuntu. I got the error "/dev/sda does not contain a valid partition table", and later "ext4-fs: checksum failed on dev sda at sector...", and "please specify a valid partition for root=". I am absolutely positive that I entered the correct partition, I triple checked and entered other partition names to make sure.
I'd also like to add that the computer makes horrible crunching noises when it starts up and when I do stuff like press keys. So is something seriously wrong with my hardware, or is there another explanation for all of this? Because I really don't want to have to try to repair the computer and can't pay to have it repaired.
every so often while playing Minecraft (Yes, yes, a game) Java would just close every so often. I never got to see an error message, as I was running it with a shell script from a launcher Anyway, so after a bit of playing (Haven't found a way to reproduce it, happens at seemingly random times) The java window closes, leaving this in the terminal:
Java applet not loading image with relative path(e.g. images/1.jpg) but loads image with absolute path(i.e. from /root/user/images/1.jpg) . This is a problem when i want to host the applet on web server
I'm currently running 11.3 and decided I'd try upgrading to 11.4 following the instructions here: SDB:System upgrade - openSUSEUnfortunately, my attempts are defeated at the point of trying to refresh the new repos; I get the following message (for the oss repo, in this case):
With 11.4 replaced by 11.3 in the repo url, it refreshes just fine. The only repository that works when I change 11.3 to 11.4 is the Packman repo. I'm not really sure why the connection fails for 11.4 but not 11.3!
Further info: I have an old router with no IPv6 support, but have IPv6 disabled system-wide. I can enter the url for the repositories into firefox and they come up just fine - it's only with zypper/YaST that I get the above error message.I also tried upgrading using the network CD but ran into the same sort of problem. In this case it may be because the CD installer doesn't disable IPv6. (I didn't want to download the DVD at my connection speed, and the KDE live CD is not listed as suitable for upgrade).
I've opensuse 11.2 and I have all java packages installed, but Java Plugin for firefox doesn't work.I'm getting this error:
Code:
[B]gcjwebplugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window.
Code:
upiter@linux-yalp:~> firefox -g upiter@linux-yalp:~> gcjwebplugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window.
I keep getting this error message, I did a search and didn't find a solution to my Java browser problems gcjwebplugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window.
I've just installed java (jre-6u21-linux-i586.bin) on Red Hat 4.4 AS and issued this command to check the java version: java -versionand got :bash :java: command not found
If you are interested, Java SE 6 Update 24 is available. The Check Java Version link in my signature will tell you if you are up to date or not. The Update Java Version link in my signature will tell you how to obtain and install the latest version. The 32 bit version install directions are on the left side of that page and the 64 bit instructions are on the right side.
Just remember to remove the current version before installing the new one as it says in the instructions. The remove instructions are below the install instructions. Also, in Step 9 - "Now you'll want to tell the system, that there's a new Java version available." See the note below it that says if you get an error upon entering the command once, enter it a second time. I have to do that and sometimes forget. Just thought I would mention that. These instructions are already setup for version 6 update 24, but they can be modified for any update and they will work. I have been using these instructions for a couple of years and they work.
I try to install the java plugin but the java test pages show not installed. I have tried the openjdk-6-jdk package and the Oracle/Sun 1.6.0_26 version to no avail.
Is there some good instructions page someplace? I have yet to find a set of instructions that provides something clear that works.
Code: ~ $ /usr/java/jre1.6.0_25/bin/java -showversion Error occurred during initialization of VMjava/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
That's the error I get. When trying to run a java app with the firefox plugin, the browser simply crashes if it's the 64bit java or tells me it's not installed if it's the 32bit version.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think it has something to do with leftover gunk from a previous version I misinstalled(Is that even a word?) Anyway, the only thing that google could come up with was a solution for windows which laid blame on Bill Gates for having a bunch of pf (java prefetch) files stuffed into c:windows for no apparent reason. The solution was to delete them, but I can't seem to find the java prefetch folder in linux. The method I used is downloading the rpm from java.com the rpm2tgz then installpkg then cp libnpjp2.so to firefox plugins folder.
This is my first post and I'm pretty new on Debian. I had used Ubunu for a while now and I've decided to move on Debian Squeeze. But I've one problem: I've a Java programm to install and the installer is GUI Java based. When I run the script, I've the next message:
Preparing to install. Extracting the JRE from the installer archive.Unpacking the JRE.Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive.Configuring the installer for this system's environment.Launching installer Graphical installers are not supported by the VM. The console mode will be used instead. Preparing CONSOLE Mode Installation. But this program is not able to run the installation in console mode.
I've tried to install sun-java6-jre but without success.Has anyone an idea to help me install this programm? My Configuration: Debian Squeeze 6.0 amd64.
Java is installed in linux machine and when I enter the command java -version it shows java is not found. At the same time when i run from the folder where its installed with ./java -version it works.
first of all why its not working from any other place? also why do I need to give ./ from the folder?
After upgrading java (jre) to 1.6.0_19, the java plugin no longer loads into Firefox. All the rest of my plugins from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ load fine.Java can be a pain such a pain the neck!
