I want to pick up Python3 from squeeze, meanwhile I would like to stay with lenny with all other packages. Is this possible by just modifying source.list file?

I need to fgrep a list of things which are in a file. The file in which I will do the SEACHING is a large text file and I need fgrep to output each item from the list as a file with the item from the list as the file name.
Its kinda like this:
./script list.txt largefile.txt
output would be
jack.txt
screen.txt
blah.txt
I recently got an iPhone 3g and have been trying to upload music onto my device with Rhythmbox because my computer exclusively runs Ubuntu (10.04 LTS, Lucid Lynx). Rhythmbox would show files that were dragged and dropped as being on the iPhone, and they appeared in the iPhone's folders, but they weren't recognized in the iPod player. I followed a variety of forum threads to try to fix the problem, but ended up creating a whole new set of problems with my package manager.
I get this error message before package manager opens: E: Type 'n' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pmcenery-ppa-lucid.list E: The list of sources could not be read. Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
And this message after I close the first error message window and the package manager opens: An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

Is there a place online that has the default repository listings for 'Etch' & 'Lenny'? I did not lose them on both but this is something I would like to know in case it ever happens to me. I just downloaded the blueman source file to get bluetooth tethering in my linux so that I can use internet (that's the only medium for me) but i dont know how to install from source code. And i cant even get online now! (I am posting this via operamini) Any installation instruction with screen shoot for offline mode installation for blueman? There is a problem with my source list (apparently) I'm running 11.04 if that helps.When I try to use apt-get install update for example, I get: "Malformed line 59 in source list etc/apt/sources.list"The same error occurs when trying to access synaptic package manager, it tells me there is a malformed line and the list of sources cannot be read.This error prevents me from apt-getting anything, updating and i suspect it is affecting the software center too.

I had Ubuntu for awhile, now I installed Fedora12, I'm trying to follow directions to install a program from source code (tar.gz file) I have the February 2010 issue of Linux Format, and am trying to follow it step by step. I copied gnurobbo off their disk to my desk top, which copied it. Then I did the cd command, then I did the ls command and it didn't show me anything but a line saying desktop and a few other things like pictures movies etc. so I did cd gnurobbo-0.64 and it says no such file. I have been trying this for a few times and I think I'm going crazy.

I first installed Fedora 15 (full clean install) on a spare laptop I had sitting around and the install went flawlessly. I was able to install it and use it right out the gate. I was then able to install two of my must-have programs, xchat and libreoffice without any problems either.Then I tried the same thing on my primary desktop at work (and since I run an IT department, I already have permission to do this :-)
The problem I'm getting is trying to install anything;the package manager is having trouble contacting the source.The exact error reads: "Software source download failed. Could not contact source 'fedora', so it will be disabled."I have not made anychanges to the firewall on the machine and the machine does have a working internet connection (I am posting from the machine). How can I become root outside of the terminal? I want to be able to manipulate the file system (i.e. move files, delete files, rename files) in the file viewer GUI (not sure what it's called; I'd say "Windows Explorer" if I were talking about Windows).
Also, how can I manipulate (move, delete, copy, rename) files inside the terminal?
I do understand how to move around (change the working directory) in the terminal, and how to become root in the terminal, and naturally I understand how to move, copy, blah blah blah. I know the basic basics (just letting you know, I'm not the type of person who knows less about computers than a rock does).
