Ubuntu Installation :: OpenOffice 3.3 Error With Desktop Integration
Sep 1, 2011
It's what I encounter when I try to finish the installation of openoffice 3.3 with desktop-integration. The other .deb packages install ok.
Code:

I tried several times to uninstall openoffice from Kpackagekit, but I still have the same errors.
I',m having trouble running the zotero openoffice integration plugin in F13 under the openjdk plugin. It's known top be not working as per The problem lies in some permissions as reported here -fedora-linux/However i want to know if there's any progress on it, since i dont have privilege to install it in my lab computer. Also i found this old bug reportwhich seems to have something done.If anypone has any idea please post, else i think i need to file a new bug report.EDIT: I'd be glad even if someone can guide me to write local policy (.java.policy) to enable the plugin
First off I have set up the PC so that it dual boots XP and Fedora 12
I have been struggling with the installation of openoffice 3.2 I have watched a tutorial on ..... where he was able to do it on Fedora 12 using the Add/Remove Software feature just by simply typing in openoffice.org. I have tried this multiple times and can't seem to get it working.
I have also tried using the yum command through terminal I have been using "yum localinstall" and recieve this error
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again
I've installed CentOS 5.x (64 bit) on a Hyper-V Server R2. When I trying to install integration serices I get an error: [root@localhost ~]# cd /opt/linux_ic_v21_rtm/ [root@localhost linux_ic_v21_rtm]# make Building all modules... make -C /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/build SUBDIRS=/opt/linux_ic_v21_rtm/src modules make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/build: No such file or directory. Stop. make: *** [all] Error 2
I am using: Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 03:28:30 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I did everything as it shows on [URL].
I installed Fedora 15 on Hyper-V (Windows host). I installed to disk, rebooted. Now I'm off to installing the Integration services, but I've got a few problems: 1) Since it is not yet installed, it looks like the network is not functional. 2) From what I can see, I need to have a couple of things installed beforehand (GCC amoung other things)
The problem is that when I did this previously with Virtualbox, I was able to install the pre-requisites with yum. Now this won't work as I have no network. I can't use VirtualBox here at work as we have everything else running under Hyper-V so have no choice but to go this way (VB and HV can't live together on the same host). it's just so much harder to go through this installation with Hyper-V.
I downloaded and installed the Ubuntu desktop edition and when I boot up I have the options to boot either Windows 7, or Ubuntu (so far so good), however, when I select Ubuntu I get a message saying that the following file is corrupt:
File: ubuntuwinbootwubildr.mbr
status: 0xc000000f
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.
Any thoughts on this? Would just re-installing it fix the problem?
I've just installed Scientific Linux 6 (equivalent to RHEL 6) with OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
If I click on a file to open it with Writer, the program locks up. If I run Writer first and load the file, all seems to be well. But if I launch Writer from the command line, I'm left with the error
The ? are my insertions, replacing invalid codes.
This happens with all text files, new or old. Has anyone else seen this, and is there any solution other than re-installing OpenOffice?
So I tried out Libreoffice and want to revert back to Openoffice for the time being. I uninstalled Libreoffice from ubuntu software center and now I can't reinstall openoffice from USC. i get this error:
" Package dependencies cannot be resolved: This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time. " does anyone have a way of fixing this? edit: i've tried sudo apt-get install openoffice.org in terminal but it didn't work as well (i'm total noob)

I have upgraded my EeePC from 9.10 to 10.04 and got now a black screen after I can login. On the right upper corner, I find an error message:
Quote: Install problem! The cnfiguration defaults for GNOME Power Manager have not been installed correctly. On the bottom bar I selected English / USA / GNOME for Language / Keyboard and Session Above is the best I ever could come, but most of the time I only can type in the password, and it stops there, without bottom bar (language/keyboard/session), but with the Error.
I'm trying to install a language-pack for my OpenOffice, but there seems to be a dependency-problem. Maybe someone has a suggestion. FC12, x64 OOo.x64 3.1.1
I have an nfs share that mounts automatically when kde starts.
Code:
wendy@DellNB:~$ cat .kde/Autostart/mountNAS.sh #!/bin/bash mount ~/TestShare #echo "NAS Mounted"
[code]...
Gimp works fine editing and saving photos from/to the nfs share. kWrite can do its thing and read/create files on the NAS. Files I create with vim are visible and editable under windows. OpenOffice however, when I try an open a file I get "file is locked by unknown user." I open as copy and try saving to the share with a different name... No Dice, error saving to share the file is created on the share but it is empty. I did some reading and found a post that said to comment a line from a file called soffice, which I cannot find.
I'm running Fedora 15 with Gnome 3. I installed Gnome-Do using 'yum install gnome-do'. I opened it from the Terminal by typing 'gnome-do' but I keep getting an error message that says
Could not load desktop item: libgnome-desktop-2.so.17
Gnome-Do opens but it doesn't display any application I search for and when I try opening the Gnome-Do preferences, it quits.
I installed gnome-desktop-2.32.0-8.fc16.i686.rpm from here: [url] and then installed Gnome-Do. Everything works fine now.
installing Open Office 3.2. Once I downloaded it, I extracted it, then went to the desktop integration folder. I clicked that and it took me to "openoffice.org-debian-menus" and I installed that package.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04LTS. I upgraded from 8.04 (which may be relevant to my problems) a while back. OpenOffice was working with no Help visible. When I checked synaptic openoffice appeared as a manual install (probably because I installed version 3.0 manually on 8.04). So I started by uninstalling it using 'remove completely' and re-installing. I also deleted .openoffice.org (which was still left there in spite of the 'complete removal'). I installed openoffice.org-help-en-gb and the common files. Here is the full list:
I have done a fresh installation of Natty and as expected it installed LibreOffice. What I would like is to install OpenOffice but it doesn't seem to be in the repositories. I know LibreOffice is a complete replacement for OpenOffice. However, the LibreOffice Base component is buggy [URL]. Hence I cannot use it at the moment. I did think about downloading the debs from the OpenOffice website, but the OpenOffice Base component doesn't seem to be included in the packages (?)What I would like is to have OpenOffice and LibreOffice installed side by side.
how to take a windows 7 install and intergrate it into linux. i like that wine integrates into the windows manager. but of course wine simply doesn't do what i want. i love linux because of complete customization. i like windows 7 because it runs the programs i use on a daily basis properly. i know there has to be some way this can be done. im getting tired of using windows 7 inside a virtual machine for varius reasons. i know there has to be someway i can combine linux and windows normally.
I just recieved my new PC. While installing 10.10 i'm having some issue enabling visual effects. When I try anything but "None" I get an error that says "Desktop effects can not be enabled". When I try to run compiz from the terminal I get:
compiz (core) - Fatal: Software rendering detected. compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0 compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0
Launching fallback window manager. Also when I try to edit the xorg.conf file it's not there.....is this normal?nWhat can I do to enable effects with my Radeon HD 5670?
You may tell from my question that I haven't got much Linux experience, but I'm currently having a problem where OpenOffice.org won't save anything, and I'm trying to update it. I've downloaded the latest 64 bit debian installer, and when I unpack it, there's a shell script file called "update" which is set to executable. If I click on that file nothing happens (WINE seems to have associated itself with shell scripts, and nothing happens when I try and open them through Dolphin) and if I paste its name into the terminal it says dpkg: requested operation requires superuser privilege. If I type su and then type my password it says "su: Authentication failure". I only entered one password during the kubuntu installation process and that was the password for my user login, so that is the password I'm trying to use with su.
I installed Libreoffice on my Ubuntu 10.10 (through wubi), and uninstalled Openoffice afterwards. Everything's ok. But then I continue to receive updates for openoffice modules (which are a lot btw). From the Software Center, currently installed are libreoffice modules together with (I think) their openoffice counterparts. Now the question is, is it safe to remove the openoffice modules? Or does Libreoffice need them, too? How do I remove them completely from the updates?
I helped a friend with a old game. File-roller couldnt handle the archive so I installed WinRAR via Wine. But now WinRAR is the default app for RAR-files and the icon has been replaced by a WinRAR iconI have removed Wine and it's settings but nothing helped. How do I remove the Wine integration?
I just installed 10.04 and am really impressed I am enjoying it more then win 7 and mac osx. The integration of social networking from the top panel was one of my fav features however my niece got hold of my laptop and deleted it and I cant figure out how to restore it along with all of the features. I dont want to have to reinstall now after finally getting everything where I wanted it.
I've got it in the notifications, I've got it in the indicator applet... How do I get rid of the evolution buttons in the indicator and get a working "Dynamic" Thunderbird one? (With the compose message, inbox buttons etc) Need the indicator to respond and look like the mail icon. Also, does Thunderbird have a "Silent mode" where it can run without a window and show notifications when needed? Is there a way to have contacts in a tab? I need to switch cause evolution is driving me insane with the constant password requests... It could fill up the hundred paper-cuts all on its own...
I've just downloaded openoffice 3.2.1. Then installed it via the script and manually after cd ing to the RPM directory. Thing is, it installs and the menu entries are there. But clicking on it results the splash screen to show up and dis appear.
I was preferring Abiword so I uninstalled OpenOffice but have discovered that Abiword can't deal with larger documents so am trying to reinstall OpenOffice and got the error messagePrevious installation hasn't been completed. The installation could have failed because of an error in the corresponding software package or it was cancelled in an unfriendly way. You have to repair this before you can install or remove any further software.
