Hardware:
Motherboard - Asus AT4NM10-I (Intel NM10, PCI)
CPU - Integrated Intel Atom D410
RAM - 2 Gb
Lan - D-Link DGE-528T Gigabit Adapter
Provider gives 8/2 Mbit ADSL connection.
So tried Deluge and Transmission, and integrated or external network card and no luck.
When torrent file is being seeded on top speed network starts freezing, server almost unreachable, video freezing when watching it by LAN from server... etc...
When I pause upload - everything starts working ok!
Network based on gigabit switch and cooper UTP cables...

I use a TP Link WR841N wireless router and a Toshiba satellite pro. The same setup is OK with windows and ubuntu 11.04 alpha3.

It is the fault of the filtered network connection with p2p ports block (it's academical network). However already added repos are not affected. What can I do about it? It sucks a lot. Jun 25, 2010I have a Suse 10.3 router with 4 network cards. 1 is to connect to the big network and thereby also the internet, 2 are for 'client' subnets and I want to use the last one as a DMZ. In this DMZ will be a web server which has to be accessible from the other 2 subnets and from the big network. I could do it with a few simple clicks in Yast firewall, but I have some issues with this firewall and there for I want to use it as minimal as possible, using Iptables.
So now I'm struggling a bit with Iptables. Basicly what I'm looking for is how to block all ports but 80 in this last subnet with iptables.

They seem to just connect and i don't want to have to change the password particularly because that involves changing it on multiple devices.

I have one virtual host with a sub directory that contains pdf news letters.do not want the directory browsable and tried putting an index.php file that re-directshe user to the root directory but when I go to the [web address]/[directory name] in any browser I see the contents of the folder listed.
Currently the news letter list is drawn from a database table and displayed as links on a page in the root directory. The links point to the file name in the sub directory. How do I block users from going to that sub directory and seeinge contents of that directory listed? Would I add another <directory> statement in the vhosts.conf file? If so how would I structure that directive?

Jun 2, 2010This is something that should be easy. This is what I want to do:
1. I give an RSS url, a reges, and a download location to a torrent client.
2. The client then automatically refreshes that feed url every X minutes, and once a item shows up in the feed that matches my regex, it downloads it to a folder I specified.
Yet every few months, going back to at least 2007, I attempt to get this working in ubuntu, but I can never do it. Well, it's that time of the year again, I'm trying to get this working, and am having no luck. This is what I've tried so far:
1. Deluged - apprently older versions had a flexget plugin, but the latest version of deluged (the version that comes with lucid) does it completely different. Apparently you have to use this thing called "FlexGet", which is about the polar opposite of easy to use. I can't tell if you're supposed to install a deluged plugin for flexget, or a flexget plugin for deluged. Or no plug in at all. Flexget has a yaml config system which is way more complicated than it needs to be. All I have an RSS url, a regex, and a download location. What else do you want?
I also tried a tutorial on how to do get flexget working with deluged, but it was about 20 steps and it wanted me to do all sorts of crap like adding daemons to /etc/ini.d which is way way way way more involved that I want it to be. An RSS url, a regex and a download location, people.
2. qtorrent - This doesn't work at all. I added the url for my feed but qtorrent doesn't do anything. It just shows nothing. I know my RSS url is correct because wget gets it fine.
3. utorrent under wine - Does not work. I get all sorts of UI errors. It will list the torrents, but all of them 404 when trying to download. I tried grabbing a few of the torrent urls via wget and they all download fine.
4. I also tried out a older version of utorent - Does not work either. When I run the program, it wants to install to program files. I let it install, but when I navigate to my program files folder and run the program the installer runs again Great. Must be a wine problem.
I haven't tried vuze yet, but unless someone can tell me that they have it 100% working, I'm not going to waste any more time with it until the next cycle of me trying to get automatic RSS torrent download working...

So, I employed the update. Problem is, I do not see this as an installed application. TRANSMISSION is not listed in any submenu under the Applications menu OR Add/Remove.

Mar 16, 2010Just went to download 8.04.4 and to use the torrent. Guess what, the links on the page point to 8.04.3 torrent download which gets you a 404 error. To get by this, go into the address window of your browser and change each 8.04.3 to 8.04.4 and you will get the torrent.
Just thought I would pass this on if anyone was trying to get it via the torrent. If anyone is watching, maybe the links should be updated on the download pages.

I'm asking this because the download is very slow.
I'm on a 20mb connection and it starts off around 400k but then goes down to 30 so it will take hours.

Jan 1, 2011Which one do you guys use and why? I'm too used to Utorrent on windows, it's light and simple. I tried Ktorrent on ubuntu but didn't like it. Transmission doesn't go as fast a Utorrent. I'm not someone who uses these things too often as I use them to download big distros like Debian, OpenSuse and some other good freebies. But I'm wondering if there's anything as simple and fast as Utorrent for Ubuntu or if there's some tweaks I should do that I'm not aware of.
