Ubuntu :: Get Good FTP Index Script?

Feb 18, 2010

Does anyone know a good script that would automatically generate an index.html file for an FTP server?

I just uploaded quite a bit of my music and files to my FTP server, and I really dont feel like having to go through and manually add links to a page so that I could browse them from anywhere.

I was looking in to using a script originally written for dropbox- here: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/02/share...lder-with.html

But it doesnt work on the remote server. I could only create the index for files residing on the drive here.

Ubuntu :: How To Clear Down Apt-Xapian-Index Space

Nov 9, 2010

My system is giving me a low space on filesystem warning. When I run disk analyser, it seems that /var/lib/apt-xapian-index is using 97% of it!! That's 8.9GB. I found another post which explained that each time this package runs it builds a new index set, and how to make it only update new packages. I made that change, but this doesn't release the 8.9GB that I guess can just be cleared down somehow...

I hope it can be cleared down anyway. How to clear all this down? I do want the package to remain running on the system, I just want to clean it up and release all that space. I'm on Lucid, I also saw the warning on Jaunty but it went away after upgrade to Lucid... now it's happening again, I can't ignore and hope it goes away for ever!

Ubuntu :: Pdf Logical Numbering/index Modification

Mar 17, 2011

I used this command to merge a book I downloaded by chapters into a single file (I'm putting it here so I don't forget : )

Code:
gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=book.pdf 0*.pdf

As you know, many (or most?) books number the first pages using roman numbers, so in the pdf the page #1 is actually the logical page #12.

Also, the combined file doesn't have a logical index (section, subsection, etc.) showing in okular or evince.

Since I have many pdfs in similar condition I was wondering if there's a way to change the numbering to make the first "n" pages use logical roman numbers and add a logical index.

Ubuntu :: File Manager With Index Capabitities?

I use nautilus at the moment on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. I use grep cli command to locate text words or comments in a folder containing hundreds of files, each having 5 or 6 text documents in Greek and English.

I am looking for a manager that will index all entries, and enable me to find a phrase or word within these documents quickly. I seen to recall that some time ago I saw a manager that was capable of this, that generated an index, as data was added, but have been unable to locate it with google.

Ubuntu Networking :: Localhost Can Read Phpinfo() But Not Index.php?

Jan 7, 2011

Installed apache2 and php5, got the message "It works!" and phpinfo() displays the info page from withing the my folder. But when i put my index.php and rest of the files in www/mysite/ I only get a blank page displaying nothing, as if my php scripts wont parse. If I create a plain html "hello world" doc it displays that.. I've used this guide before [URL] and got it to work last time some months ago, but this time around after clean ubuntu reinstall it's showing nothing, remember I struggled with some permission things last time doing sudo chmod a+rwx /var/www/* and same for subfolders css and images. but now nothing happens, no errors or nothing. I didnt have to do enything else last time, no php.ini or nothing, it just worked, after I set permissions to get css and images to display correctly. Tried to put my files in www alone but dont work either (also cannot delete the default index.html in the www folder). Tried to restart apache2 and the computer, but no luck. My site also works online from other servers, so this is a local problem.

Ubuntu :: Gimp Batch Process Multiple Files Index To B&W?

Apr 15, 2010

I scanned hundreds of pages in gray scale and would like to batch process them to B&W. You can do this using the gimp GUI. what it does is get rid of all the gray shading from reflections off the paper when scanned. So you get crisp white backgrounds with black text and diagrams. I would like to simply do this to the entire group directory at one time as it would be quite a lot of effort to open them and do them one by one.

Ubuntu :: Error: Line 29137: Bad Flag Alias Index: 0

May 9, 2010

I am getting the following errors continuously whenever I update/save a config file in /etc/

Code:

error: line 29136: bad flag vector alias
error: line 29137: bad flag alias index: 0

The config file got updated though. I am just worried that this may be something bad.I update the files using the command sudo gedit <config_file>. I haven't encountered this before in Karmic. Has anyone encountered the same error messages? This might be a problem with gedit. I tried doing the following and the error messages also came up:

1. In terminal, gedit foo.txt

2. In gedit, type anything and save

3. Terminal will show the following:

Code:

...
...
error: line 19234: bad flag vector alias

[code]....

Running artha from the terminal also causes the error.I've managed to get the top-most line of the error:

error: line 15: bad flag alias index: 0
error: line 15: bad flag vector alias

The hardest thing about this is I have no idea what's causing it. I thought it was gedit but running artha (from the terminal) also causes the error.Sigh. This is a clean install of Lucid, which again makes it even harder to know what causes it.
