Server :: Df -h Not Showing File System
Dec 30, 2010I have install 5.5 kernel in rhel and after rebooting got the error to control+d to continue or rootpassword. I have done the same but df -h not showing the lvm filesystem.I have tried to remounnt but showing resource busy.I have rebooted on the previous kernel but getting the same issue.Its a VM.df -h showing only/dev/ mapper/ vg_osdata-lv_root /

May 2, 2010I bought a new SD card which I intend to put some MP3s on - except that I can't write to it because it tells me the destination is Read Only. No-probs thinks I: I'll just reformat it.
"Error creating file system: helper exited with exit code 1: cannot open /dev/mmcblk0p1: Read-only file system"
Various chmod commands all result in Read-only file system. I tried umount then mount commands, but it couldn't find it to mount once I'd unmounted it using the same /media/ file path (I assume it's the only one).

Aug 11, 2011I am using ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS and I have webmin 1.560 installed but when I look at Un-used Modules its showing system log is there and when I click on it I get this: The syslog configuration file /etc/syslog.conf was not found on your system. Maybe syslog is not installed, or a newer version like syslog-ng is in use, or the module configuration is incorrect.

Jan 3, 2011I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 and I'm running Skype 2.1 (Beta). Whenever I "x" out of the Skype program, from what I can tell it's minimizing the Skype program and not actually terminating the thread (just as it does in Windows), however when I "x" out of Skype the icon is not showing up in the system tray (but it does in Windows). So one would think that it's not running, however if I try to re-launch Skype I get an error message stating: Another Skype Instance May Exist.
I confirm this by going to System > Administration > System Monitor and sure enough, Skype is running. So if I "x" out of the program, how do I switch back to it because it's not showing up in the system tray? One last thing : Alt+Tab does not work. It will list the other programs running, but not Skype, despite the fact that it is running.

After a hiccup or two I have managed to get a system of sorts running but on trying to copy files from my old computer(via a memory stick) it tells me that Vfat is an unknown file system.On my old computer I am running 32 bit openSUSE 11.2 as a dual boot system with Windows XP and have no problems moving files between the two different file systems.Is it possible to get a 64 bit file system to read 32 bit file system drives and if so how do I do it?

For example : an icon on the desktop to open eclipse says eclipse.desktop and doesn't show the eclipse image when i right click a .bz2 file it doesn't show the extract here option for text files, a small bit of the text is showing outside the icon where it usually shows inside The same problems are present in nautilus as well as the desktop.
Need some quick help to reset these to the default.

When he saw the boot (like a month later, he REALLY uses the PC...) he went crazy and instantly ordered me to "uninstall that thing". Of course i`m not stupid to do that after a month of seeing how Ubuntu is... I want to know if/how can I make the pc start on windows auto, without prompting by showing the choose system screen, and when i open boot menu (i don`t remember, but i think its F-eight) i have both choices, so I can keep Linux without him knowing.

Apr 11, 2010the system was off and now it won't boot up. It have power because the monitor is showing the orange light as if the tower is off. I'm assuming it may be the PSU went dead. Well, today, I've changed the PSU which should be a good working one and still no power to the tower system. I dont overclock. As far as I can tell the fan is not spinning since this has happen. Apr 26, 2011using mint 10, now after updates my system is barely working. The programs were no longer showing in the task bar, and the system was running much slower.

This repeated over and over again. My temperature was never to high 40-55, and I found a suggestion to update my kernel to 2.6.37-020637. After doing so there is no longer the thermal limit exceeded error but the computer is still running poorly. The system is slow and again no programs are showing up in the task bar when open.

My friend have a laptop which was running in windows 7.Last week he installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.But after that boot menu is not showing and it is automatically booting to ubuntu.
So i pressed Shift key during boot and checked boot menu list,which is showing only linux OS ,Linux OS recovery mode and memtest86,No windows 7 option.
So I did following things.
Step1: Tried to find out the partitions using fdisk -l
2.So i tried to add a manual entry by editing the /etc/grub.d/40_custom file like below ,and changed the permission using chmod +x update-grub command
3.Run the update-grub command
But it is not updating the manual entry,The above update-grub command output showing the update-grub command not even entering into the /etc/grub.d/40_custom file because i put echo in that file in that ,and that also not coming.
