Slackware :: Showing Code - Trying To Run PHP File?
Dec 29, 2010
I've been trying to learn php but I can't find a way to get started. I have mysql, php, etc. I have the daemons running and if I go to http://localhost it says it works! But if I try to "run" a php file like http://localhost/test.php all I get is the source code showing in my browser.
Lets say I want to output a simple message:
<?php
echo "Hello world";
?>
Well that's what I get in my browser I don't see the message but the code itself. I had to uncomment Include /etc/httpd/mod_php.conf at the end of htppd.conf .

I am running Valgrind on my program. It shows me two errors but mentions only addresses against them and not actual code even on a debug build.
The output is
==23002== Memcheck, a memory error detector.
==23002== Copyright (C) 2002-2005, and GNU GPL'd, by Julian Seward et al.
==23002== Using LibVEX rev 1575, a library for dynamic binary translation.

I need a mixer app called envy24control. Nobody seems to have a Slackware package for it, which would not be a big deal except that I cannot find the source code either! Does anyone know where I can find this thing?

Just as the title says, where on earth is the source for the setup command during the install? I'm guessing that setup is a script, but I'm not sure (can't find it).

Strange, just fired up my laptop and Wicd is telling me that I am on a Wired Network. Somehow, I have no clue as to how but my wireless connection is now being interpreted as a wired one.

I got a problem with my Slackware installation after upgrading to slackware-current. I made a clean 13.1 install on my laptop, then I logged in as root, connected to the net and upgraded to slackware-current. Then, after rebooting, I try to log in to kde as root but I get this error:
Code:
kdestartupconfig4 does not exist or fails. The error code is 127. Check your installation. After getting these errors, I made a completely new fresh installation but I got the same errors again.
I even added another user with the adduser command just in case that was the problem but that didn't help. I can't log in to KDE.

Before anyone panics, the source tarball for Slackware 13.37 doesn't appear to be the "bad" tarball that Chris Evans mentions here:
[URL]
Code:
$> sha256sum vsftpd-2.3.4.tar.gz
b466edf96437afa2b2bea6981d4ab8b0204b83ca0a2ac94bef6b62b42cc71a5a vsftpd-2.3.4.tar.gz
I checked str.c for the call to vsf_sysutil_extra() if the user is specified as and I also checked for the rogue shellcode in sysdeputil.c but I didn't find it, so it looks like the backdoor was uploaded recently.
[URL]
Quote:
Chris Evans, aka Scary Beasts, has confirmed that version 2.3.4 of vsftpd's downloadable source code was compromised and a backdoor added to the code. Evans, the author of vsftpd - which is described on its web site as "probably the most secure and fastest FTP server for Unix-like systems" - was alerted on Sunday to the fact that a bad tarball had been downloaded from the vsftpd master site with an invalid GPG signature. It is not known how long the bad code had been online.
The bad tarball included a backdoor in the code which would respond to a user logging in with a user name "" by listening on port 6200 for a connection and launching a shell when someone connects.Evans has now moved the source code and site to [URL] a Google App Engine hosted site. The GPL-licensed source code can be downloaded (direct download) from the same site, along with the GPG signature for validating the download, a step that Evans recommends. Evans says that the lack of obfuscation and lack of victim identification leads him to believe that "perhaps someone was just having some lulz instead of seriously trying to cause trouble".

I am trying to build abcde from slackbuilds.org and include needed packages like id3. When I went to build it I was unable to download the source from [url] and I get a 404 error in dutch. I was wondering if anyone had this issue or if there was another trusted place to grab the source code? I checked the archives of the slackbuilds-user mailing list to see if the issue is already known, but I didn't see anything.

using ndiswrapper for a usbwlan device. Configured and modprobe ndiswrapper confirmed working. When I 'iwlist wlan0 scan'I get cell (wifi network) profiles including my own and several of the neighbours - all showing ssid name and whether key managed or not. When I 'wicd-client' this shows my network as hidden. What makes it even stranger is that wicd-client shows all the neighbours network ssid. Check to see if my router is broadcasting ssid and is without a doubt. I have tried to connect to my router via CLI commands (iwconfig) but unable to connect as is wicd-client - will update with log files on this soon.

I bought a new SD card which I intend to put some MP3s on - except that I can't write to it because it tells me the destination is Read Only. No-probs thinks I: I'll just reformat it.
"Error creating file system: helper exited with exit code 1: cannot open /dev/mmcblk0p1: Read-only file system"
Various chmod commands all result in Read-only file system. I tried umount then mount commands, but it couldn't find it to mount once I'd unmounted it using the same /media/ file path (I assume it's the only one).

Where's the cheat code file located?
It should be in the home folder, right? but I can't find it there.
Why I need to know this? Because editing the file manually will probably go way faster then adding the codes in the emulator.

Awhile back, PabloTwo pointed me to zenity as a way to create bash scripts with changeable parameters. That thread is here, for anyone interested in reading about it: [URL] Anyway, my problem is that I'm trying to capture input that contains double-dashes ("--") but zenity (or maybe or it's bash???) complains with the following error message:
"This option is not available. for all possible usages.
bash: [/code]: No such file or directory"
Here's an example of what I'm doing:
Code:
# Select the time of day
Flytime=`zenity --list --text="Select the Time" --radiolist --height=300 --width=300 --hide-column=2 --column="Select" --column="Code" --column="Time of Day"
"" "--timeofday=real" "Local Time"
[code]....
What I want to accomplish is for the variable $Flytime to contain either "--timeofday=real" or "--timeofday=dawn" (without the quotes) depending upon which radio button is selected. I have tried escaping "--timeofday" (e.g. "--timeofday" and even "--timeofday") but that's not working.

I'm investigating how to copy a file located in my file system into another device. I googled to find a solution for my case but I didn't find anything. My original problem was to find a way to permit my code to move a file into a USB device. I wonder If is there a way to implement the cp command or some mechanism that permits my code to interact with between the file system on my computer and the second one on USB external driver (FAT32) ?
