I don't use F-spot regularly. I don't think I've used it for a few months. But when I tried to open it recently and every time since it crashes showing the following error: F-Spot Encountered a Fatal Error
Could not read add-in description.I removed F-Spot and reinstalled in Synaptic but it didn't fix anything.
I have currently installed Xubuntu via wubi on my windows XP. When I try to boot, it displays an error message stating that wubildr.mbr is missing or corrupt and I cannot boot into xubuntu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to download and install Ubuntu to run alongside Windows 7 in a dual boot configuration. and downloaded the Windows Installer, but when I try to launch it I get an error message which I captured and attached to this post. What's really wierd is that once the message is displayed, I can't get rid of it. Even running the Task Manager to try to close the message doesn't work. I literally have to restart the computer to get rid of the message!
Am I suppose to be downloading the Windows Installer (Wubi) to a CD first where I run it from there? If so, the instructions don't mention that. Can't I download it directly to my C: drive and then run it from there? If so, why am I getting the error message?
So, I was just importing some images to F-Spot, when it suddenly crashed.
Now, when I try starting it, it flashes with some error that I can't read. It appears and disappears very quickly.

I use jaunty, and everytime i start pidgim it crashes not error message shown, i removed it and installed it again, no sucess. I guess it must be dropping error messages somewhere. Can someone help or provide me where should i be looking for the error messages, i went to system log but could not find it. I tried dmsg | tail , post the crash, did not see anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a very frustrating issue with F-spot Photo Manager, version 0.8.0-1. I've scanned the forums for days but have not happened upon a solution thus far. The application always crashes after importing photos --without moving the original files-- and will continue to crash after repeated attempts to launch the application. The only suitable work-around to open F-spot again is to delete the config folder in /home/username/.config/f-spot. But I can't seem to be able to "import" any photos into the library without the same process repeating itself. I've tried "importing" photos with "Detect Duplicates" turned off, but the same process occurs. Here is the output when launching F-spot from the terminal:

I've tried to eliminate all the different variables I can think of, but I haven't found a solution. This issue is present not only in Ubuntu, but also in openSuse 11.3 and Linux Mint 10.
When I try to import my Pictures folder F-Spot crashes at photo # 668 every time. After restart and logout/login.
Is there a way I can get an error log?
When I start f-spot in terminal and try to import pictures I get this -
I know there is an error from .bmp files but the problem still persists after I remove them.
When I start the vncserver process, I get a message saying "Starting VNC server: no displays configured." I edited the /root/.vnc/xstartup file and changed twm & to say "gnome-session &" (Without quotes). Not sure why I am still seeing this error. It's CentOS 5.4.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI found a few threads already with people having similar issues, but I hadn't stumbled across any with a fix. This happened at the worst possible time. I have finals for my online classes next week, and I'm going to be going out of state for a while in a couple of days and it's a real nuisance that of all the times it's now that I have a problem.
Anyway, the applet in the task bar notified me that I'd received two new messages and when I go over to the desktop that my mail catcher sits on the inbox is empty. I double checked it a couple of times, it said that I had new mail, but it was not appearing. I closed the program and tried to restart it. The program would launch for about a second, and crash again. At first it just wouldn't launch and then I rebooted the system and then the immediate crashing began to take place.

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently, for whatever reason (I am led to suspect a bad hard drive), Windows 7 failed to boot even in safe mode so I decided to just use a clear hard drive and install a far less troublesome OS, so I decided to try to use openSUSE. I used a backup laptop to download and burn the 4.7 GB release. Problem is, I haven't a clue how to get it to work. I thought just placing the burned DVD in when booting would be enough, but the BIOS keeps telling me it fails to launch from CD. Luckily, I had enough foresight to download a live CD just in case. I was able to install from the live CD, and when I checked the DVD, I was able to access all the content.
But I haven't a clue how to use it to upgrade/install all the extra software. Also, I should add I am completely new to this whole thing. While I have used Linux before, for the most part others dealt with all the administrative aspects of ensuring the system actually ran/had the needed software on it. Finally, I have one major restriction placed on this whole issue. I live out in the middle of no-where and the only internet I can get is limited to 200MB a day (I downloaded the CD/DVD elsewhere, but normally don't have a chance to do that). As such, being able to install from the DVD and not needing to download much software would be nice.
Using IMAP to retrieve emails in Evolution is not working correctly. Some messages are recieved, others are not. Those messages that cannot be recieved, reports the following error message: Unable to retrieve message

View 14 Replies View RelatedI been running both OS's for a few months now with no major problems besides wireless internet issues. Today, however, as I go to boot my laptop up, the Dell logo loads with the F2 and F12 boot and setup options which both work. Directly after that though I get the message "GRUB loading. Symbol '?' not found. Aborted. Press any key to Exit." then it repeats when I push a key, and then it tells me to press F1 to retry, F2 to go to setup, or F5 to run diagnostics. It passes all the tests in diagnostics. I've tried booting off of the ubuntu cd I used to load it initially with no luck. So I'm stuck at either that error message or in setup but I can't go any further, and it does not change anything when I tried to boot from the cd.

I'm trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on xp,but, after waiting around 2 hours per instalation I received a error message that says:" unbuntu installer : and error occurred: coercing to unicode: need string or buffer, none Type found. for more information see log file C:1customerlocals-1 empwubi-10.10-rev197.109. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

I have Ubuntu Jaunty & Linux Multimedia Studio 0.4.2. In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?

Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.
