When setting up Evolution e-mail accounts I cannot find any place to set up smtp or pop server IP port numbers. They must be using some default value, but my university's mail non-stander porn assignments or something.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using RHEL 5. In my Linux Box I have two Lan cards (eth0 and eth1). "eth0" is connected with network 192.168.10.0 and "eth1" is connected with network 192.168.11.0. Both Network are inter connected via routing. Now I want a situation where, I want to dedicatedly assign some port numbers against a lan card. Like eth0 will be assigned for ssh (22) and eth1 is assigned for telnet (23). So that, when a user connect to 22 port then he/she is connected to the server through eth0 , and when a user connect 23 port then he/she is connected to the server through eth1. Is it possible to do using iptables or other?

setting it up to handle one of my email accounts as a start, i can get evolution to receive mail but not to send. in outlook, i have to change the smtp port from 25 to 587 for high-speed connections. otherwise the server blocks, and i feel sure that's what's causing my problem in evolution: i can't find where to change the port to 587.looking through some other posts here, it seems like it may not be possible through the evolution gui. if not, are there things i can enter from the terminal that will carry over into evolution settings? if there are (or better: if it can be done in evolution after all

At the bottom there are also instructions to install ftp access & some network monitoring software.Basically, I would really like someone to be able to construct the commands on how to change the listen port for sftp connection on linux or add another port to the list that Linux would use so that I could put in through putty.
If I forward port 80 to port 3128 for squid with an iptable rule, does port 3128 have to be open on the firewall or is this all routed behind the firewall?

server: LAMP - debian, apache2, mysql, php5. a bit info on my network: There is a another service here that already uses port 443 already. It made my website time out, hence the move to another port. PLus, i dont want the 2 services sharing the port. What I am trying to do is forward 443 requests to another port where the SSL service is running so I can hide my port number in the URL.

I edited "sshd_config" file and changed port 22 to a new port. After I restart ssh, it listens on port 22 and the new port. How can I disable SSH to listen on port 22? I'm using Debian.

When i try to connect to my server via port 443 i get a connection refused error. However when i try to connect via port 22 it connects. Since that didn't work, i tried restarting the entire server.To restate, i changed the config file and restarted ssh then the computer, however the port didn't change.Ohh and yes my router is set to port forwarding on port 443, though it doesn't matter since I'm inside the network.
The issue is that my CentOS workstation is in a vlan from where the Intranet's DNS servers are unreachable. For browsing the web there is an ISA proxy server, which I presume resolves DNS for my firefox. However, wget, host, ping and aria2c fail to get any sort of DNS resolution since they're being run from command line.I have exported HTTP_PROXY value, which provides me internet access on console, but,only when I connect using IP address. It fails on name resolution.
My question is:May I redirect the DNS queries to my home PC which would be running a DNS server on a non standard port?I was thinking of putting nameserver 127.0.0.1 in /etc/resolv.conf and then put iptables rule to redirect 127.0.0.1:53 UDP to a.public.ip.address:3535 UDP..I don't know if I am shooting blanks or what, I am not very much aware of this kind of setup.My main need is to provide DNS resolution to console apps.I want to utilize my company's idle bandwidth for bulk downloads, so, using proxy, SSH tunneling through my Home PC is out of question.
We currently have a SUSE Apache2 reverse proxy server setup to reverse proxy (proxy_mod) our GroupWise Web Access server. Our SUSE box is located at www.domain.com. Our GroupWise Web Access server is located internally and is called GWMail. We are in the process of migrating from Novell to Windows, so we will have an exchange server with OWA access running on a Windows Server 2008 IIS7 box. That one will be called EXMail internally. Right now when someone goes to www.domain.com/gw/webacc it goes to the GWMail internal server from the outside world. This was all set up by previous techs who used Linux more.
We would like to set up reverse proxy to be able to reverse proxy to the Exchange Server from the outside world. Unfortunately the snag we are running into is that Exchange needs to run on port 443, and forwarding to port 443 has been a little tricky. I've read elsewhere we need to implement a generic TCP proxy, such as IPtables. what we need to do to get our SUSU Apache2 server to be able to reverse proxy to our Exchange server on port 443. I am using Evolution 2.30.2 and recently set it up with my Hotmail account. However, when it fetched my messages, they were deleted from the online server. I read somewhere that there is a 'leave messages on server' checkbox in Edit>Preferences>Mail Accounts>Edit>Receiving Options but it is not there.

It's not a 2007 or 2010 Exchange server, which is what most companies use these days.

I ticked the box 'leave on server'.Whilst in the mess of trying to configure two email accounts (using rules and folders), I deleted all my 1and1 emails locally. They remain on the server, but I want them now in my client inbox and Evolution seems to ignore those emails. Is there any way I can refresh evolution, so that it doesn't treat these emails any differently to new ones that I retrieve?

I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

I am behind a funny firewall, so that may have something to do with this, but since the problem materialized upon update to F14, I am assuming that this has something to do with it as well. (Both connections are on the internal network, so should not invoke the firewall/proxy, so the firewall issue is probably a red herring.)Since the update, neither evolution-mapi nor evolution-exchange (over OWA) are able to access my email. Because the exchange plugin didn't work i uninstalled evolution and removed the ppa. Now when i try to install evolution from the software centre i get this: Package dependencies cannot be resolved This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

(Maybe it is a stupid post, but before doing this I searched a little and nothing)
