I just finished setting up Evolution Mail. All my e-mails have been downloaded and it's working good.But then I logged in at mail.live.com and I all my mails were gone!I don't want my mails to store in my PC, no one knows when my hard drive will die or when will I do something stupid that leads to the complete anihilation of all my e-mails. I want them back to Windows Live's mail server.
View 2 RepliesJust set up Evolution to get my emails from 1and1.co.uk and hotmail. I ticked the box 'leave on server'.Whilst in the mess of trying to configure two email accounts (using rules and folders), I deleted all my 1and1 emails locally. They remain on the server, but I want them now in my client inbox and Evolution seems to ignore those emails. Is there any way I can refresh evolution, so that it doesn't treat these emails any differently to new ones that I retrieve?

I renamed my Inbox to Inbox.old and made a new Inbox in evolution. Now mail is working fine. but I want to get my old mails also. Is there any solution to get my mails back ? Also please tell me the cause of this problem

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports?When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail.Here's the error in mail.log.

I have wiped Windows and am running 10.04 exclusively. 32 bit, when setting up evolution e mail account i dont see where to enter password....where is it? anyone have link with screenshots? i know i can use regular hotmail but want to know how to use default ubuntu programs.
I still can't find a spot for password. options are, login, set preferences and a remember password checkbox but nowhere to enter a password

The service will be used for multiple domains. Can Postfix service multiple domains? If so, how can it be done?How does one create a user account? I have read the user account is a UNIX user account. View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to give a try to Evolution mail client (I use v 2.30.3) and I've set up my account, but see no reference to how long messages are left on the server (like in Thunderbird you have the option to leave messages for a fixed period of time, after they are automatically deleted).Any clue on this? (Maybe it is a stupid post, but before doing this I searched a little and nothing)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI opened a thread about this issue over two months ago, I opened thread at the Gnome board for the same issue but that board is dead. I never received a reply of any sort. Well Evolution used to work for me but after some updates it stopped working. A few weeks after that another update fixed it then another update came along and of course screwed it all up. Since then I am hoping some new update will fix it but no can do.Since my trouble started Evolution was even updated to a new version 2.30.2. Evolution does not connect to my mail POP server, as a matter of fact "send & receive" and the little icon bottom left on the status bar are grayed out. I have removed gnome and evolution and reinstalled with no results.
I switched to Icedove but when I forward emails Icedove gives me a header that is 10 times longer than the contain of the email itself. I could live with that if I only send emails to family and friends but I also send professional emails. I ended up installing a copy of MS Outlook for now but I really don't like it.
Evolution won't connect to our Exchange Server 2003. I have the Evolution-Exchange plugin installed and the Evolution vsn is 2.28.3. The Ubuntu vsn is 10.04 lucid. In the setup of the mail account I enter the user name in the form domainusername; in the OWA URL I enter the URL in the form - URL... and then I click the authenticate button (can't progress without authenticating). When requested I enter the password. Then comes the error message - could not connect to the server. Make sure the url is correct and try again.
I can connect to OWA using a browser. However I have to negotiate past the browser warning me that the server has a self generated certificate and not from a trusted authority. Maybe this is the problem, I don't know. The fact that I can get to OWA by means of a browser means that the firewall in our router is configured correctly, as is port forwarding to the server.The domain/exchange server is in our office and I have administrator rights.
I use this command to fetching mail from gmail it work good but it does not retrieved mails from server as I read from manual.

I created three pop accounts in evolution. For jka-walgau.at my name, office and mobile. The first time everything ran ok (all new mails could be downloaded, and from each account mails could be send). After a day (iIset the computer up for a friend) there arent no new mails that come in (webinterface tells me there are new ones).
SSL for pop and TLS for smtp were set.
The problem is they are selfsigned certificates. The first time when I configured the accounts and clicked the button to test the authentication methods I got a warning (self signed) no button to add this cert permanently only a OK buttton and in the upper corner the (x) to close. How should I handle this problem.
From 2/3 days my evolution mail client is not working properly when i'm trying to send mail from it. In case mail receiving it has no problem but the problem is occurring when i'm trying to send mails with following error..Error: Welcome response error: Server busy, too many connectionsI'm using: Ubuntu 9.10, Evolution 2.28.1

I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution

- 10.10 installed onto a terabyte hard drive with email organized into individual folders under the main folder
What I did:
- bought a new terabyte hard drive and installed 11.04 on it
- set up old terabyte drive as backup drive but kept everything on it
So how do I dig into the old drive to get the email off of it and into my 11.04 install? I didn't overwrite any files, I need to get the mail off before I can do that.
I have used Evolution for 5 years with no problems but it really makes a mess now. It keeps on copying or moving already sent messages to my Outbox, hence it keeps on sending mails again and again (and again).Is there a bug I should fix?Is there a (better) alternative for evolution?
