Mar 26, 2010I have added a ubuntu 9.10 desktop machine to a windows domain, I can log on to the ubuntu machine using domain user accounts and passwordds, now I want to configure the linux machine to connect to the MS exchange server 2003 in the domain to send receive emails. How can I do this? I tried installing thunderbird but it doesnt give an option for SMTP or ms exchange server in the mail settings.

Jan 4, 2010I've set up a fully functional e-mail server and can send and receive e-mails to and from an array of virtual domains without a problem. The only hiccup I have is that only root is able to send e-mails via mutt. I have not stipulated a sendmail line in the mutt configuration so it's sending e-mail with default configuration. How can I get it so that all users on the server can send outgoing e-mails via mutt?

Aug 21, 2010on ubuntu 8.04 and evolution has stopped sending or receiving when click send/receive button. it flashes something but too fast to read. i have renamed mail folder but no go. i have checked settings but no go. i have reinstalled evoulution from synaptic but no go.
i think i have a corrupt file or something like that.
CentOS 5 :: Evolution Receive But Won't Send?
Nov 25, 2009I have it config'd to send and receive on multiple accounts and they all receive email, but SMTP times out and even sends no matter what account I try to send with. I thought maybe security and dropped the firewall and still won't send. No matter which account I try to send to it says its timing out trying access I have no problems on my Mac so no network problems. For grins I install Thunderbird and setup one account and same thing received but no send. What could it be blocking outgoing email??? I have CentOS 5 with all available updates.

I installed Ubunto remix on a Netbook but I can not connect my Laptop with ubuntu to my Netbook with ubuntu, both these computers are connected on the network, it asked for the password to be able to connect on both computers but I cant get the two to communicate with each other .... yesterday when I still had windows xp on my Netbook I had no problem connecting the two computers ...
Ubuntu :: Evolution Send / Receive Tab Greyed Out
Feb 10, 2011Running Evolution 2.23.3.1 on a laptop with 8.04 installed. (Running 8.04 for good reasons - please don't query). I've been running perfectly for some time, but today when I booted up and opened Evolution to check my mail, the first sign of something odd was that it didn't ask me to unlock the keyring. Then I noticed that the send/receive was greyed out.
I rebooted several times with no change. I've clicked on Permissions in the File menu, but that doesn't then show any window, which is what I would expect, thinking that something has changed. Other than accepting all the usual update manager's recommended installs, nothing has changed on this laptop for several weeks.

I can't get either Evolution or Thunderbird programs to send or receive.
I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed in another partition and everything works there. I carefully copied the setup from 9.04 to 10.04.
Of course the Internet is connected, and "Network Tools" work as advertised.
I am wondering if I am alone with this problem, or are there others?

Sep 27, 2010I am would like to configure postfix to send and receive email across Ethernet (just for now). I have two machines with postfix installed both using Ubuntu 10.04 directly connected with an ethernet cable. I have successfully configured a machine to send email to gmail, however i have been unsuccessful in having these machines send email back and forth. I have been interested in setting up a little mail server at home and have just been trying some simple projects with postfix to start with. At this moment i am using ip addresses and am not concerned with using a dns server
machine A: has a fixed ip of 10.137.202.1, hostname = mail.me.com,
machine B: has a fixed ip of 10.137.202.20, hostname = mail.ubuntu.com
in the /etc/hosts file I map each hostname to ip address receptively (not sure if a good idea, but at this point I have been trying everything)
So I will execute from Machine B
echo "Here is a message" | mail -s 'Hello' cmd@[10.137.202.1]
I currently get from mail.log timed out while receiving the initial server greeting. I get from mail.err valid hostname or network address required in server description #[10.137.202.1]. Obviously when I run the mail command from cmd user i do not receive anything. I can receive mail from myself if from machine A, I sent an email using the command above. I would just like to send email from machine B and receive it on machine A via direct Ethernet connection. I have been through postfix documentation and have also read the postfix definitive guide and have had no luck.
Here is a recent main.cf as I have tried getting this to work (this is for machine A however, similar for B)

Aug 27, 2010I need to receive a number of raw ethernet packets (say, 100 packets) into a user-mode accessible buffer large enough to hold all the packets. The way I have done this so far is by looping over the recvfrom() system call 100 times, passing an incremented pointer addressing the location in my buffer to store the packet. Is there a way to receive the 100 packets into my buffer with one system call, perhaps by instructing the kernel to DMA the 100 packets into my buffer?

I had the same jobs running under 10.2, and they stopped e-mailing me after doing them for about a year and a half. I wasn't too worried because I was going to upgrade to 11.1. I use MAILTO=(my e-mail address) in the cron jobs. I have used mailq to see that the e-mails are sitting there with "connection timed out". Why do these no longer work?

Oct 22, 2010I installed sendmail in my fedora 7 system. i took the advice as provided in this url [url] I started with "Configuring s`endmail"
Then i went with installing MailScanner without going to clamav and spamassasin installation as i don need it.
I just configured my local domain and assigned a my own IP address. But there was nothing mentioned with configuring the port number. So i just went with "netstat -nl" command. And it showed that my IP is lisening on port 53.
I created 2 users for the domain and i sent mail via telnet. The mail entry got entered in maillog file. But i receive multiple unwanted entries that mail is sent from "root" to "root". But i didn't bother about that.
I proceeded with the next step of configuring the two users on thunderbird. I configured with pop3 on port 53 with the localdomain. Now i sent mail from one user to the other. The mail entry got stored in maillog but i couldn't retrieve the mail on my inbox.
But the mail gets stored in /var/mail/<user>

Apr 19, 2011I created three pop accounts in evolution. For jka-walgau.at my name, office and mobile. The first time everything ran ok (all new mails could be downloaded, and from each account mails could be send). After a day (iIset the computer up for a friend) there arent no new mails that come in (webinterface tells me there are new ones).
SSL for pop and TLS for smtp were set.
The problem is they are selfsigned certificates. The first time when I configured the accounts and clicked the button to test the authentication methods I got a warning (self signed) no button to add this cert permanently only a OK buttton and in the upper corner the (x) to close. How should I handle this problem.
