Before I present my problems, I would like to write little about those problems which I have solved and some experience of F11. I used preupgrade to migrate from F10 to F11, and I did it with success. The sound didn't work from the beginning, I don't know how but the file /etc/modprobe.d/sound had change or add an option with snd-hda-intel model=3stack, which in my case should be model=zepto...
To run blender I have to run it in fullscreen-mode because otherwise the graphics doesn't agree with the mouse-position. The Intel graphics-driver improvement made a big impression at me. Now it is possible to use blender before it was horrible.
I have not yet figured out how to enabled touchpad scrolling, a feature which I miss very much. My synclient -l looks like this:

After a re-install, I tried adding Ubuntu-Tweak, only to have this message come up, in red, in the dialog box: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: gconf2 (>= 2.28.1-2)
What does this mean, and how do you circumvent it? Edited to add: I tried installing it using the GDebi installer.

I would like to install wxCam in Ubuntu 10.04 and I have downloaded the file wxcam_1.0.7_i386.deb
Then I have installed with Synaptic Package Manager the following packages:
llbwxbase2.8-0
libwxbase2.8-dev
libwxgtk2.8-0
libwxgtk2.8-dev
libxvidcore4
libxvidcore-dev
Next step is double click on wxcam_1.0.7_i386.deb
And I obtained the following error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libwxbase2.8-0 (>=2.8.11.0)
Synaptic Package Manager shows me that the latest version is 2.8.10.1-oubuntu1.2. So what means (>=2.8.11.0) ?
When I remove the packages libwxbase, then again I have the same error.
What is the right procedure to install wxCam?

I made a bit of a schoolboy error with Ubuntu. I was without an internet connection so attempted to install OpenShot manually, using .debs. Naturally there were too many dependencies to chase up but I did install some of them...! Now my connection is back i tried to install openshot (from the recommended ppa) as well as upgrading vlc (from the recommended ppa). Naturally OpenShot won't install as I have my dependencies all over the place. I was wondering if there was a way to track and uninstall/purge the last few manually installed packages, and if then installing openshot would proceed normally.
Here was the relevant output:
Code:
crow@nest-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install openshot openshot-doc vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

I've just bought a new laptop (Acer 3810T - which has a "Core 2 Solo Processor) - so I have installed Linux for the first time in my life.... Ubuntu 9.10-desktop-amd64.iso - so far so good, I'm very very impressed and the operating system seems to be working fine. I assume that I have chosen correctly the AMD64 version then.
Fastforward to Skype installation, and I download the version (skype-ubuntu-intrepid_2.1.0.81-1_amd64.deb) - which is the best match as far as I can tell from Skype's website. However when I come to install it, I get the follwoing error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: lib32stdc++6 (>= 4.1.1-21)

I am running Debian squeeze and I am trying to install hplip-3.10.5 so I can use my new HP Photosmart C4750 printer.I downloaded the automatic installer and ran it and it gave me the following error message:
RE-CHECKING DEPENDENCIES
------------------------
error: A required dependency 'cups-image (CUPS image - CUPS image development files)' is still missing.
error: Installation cannot continue without this dependency.
error: Please manually install this dependency and re-run this installer.
So I ran apt-get install cups-image and got the following:
raygo75@RayGo1:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get install cups-image
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package cups-image
does the package "cups-image" exist? and if it does were can I find it. I have looked to no avail. I have posted a question on hplip seeing as that is were I got the script from.
