Has anyone else noticed this when installing conky-colors in Maverick?I know its not a problem with how I've configured it because it worked just fine in Lucid but here it is anyway:

I'm getting very frustrated and confused with conky-colors. I was reading OMGubuntu, and saw that Conky Colors 7 had been release and it looked pretty [URL]pt to install it from that page, but got hopelessly confused. I would really just like some step by step, noob friendly instructions. About an hour ago I completed the Network upgrade to Maverick from Lucid. Immediately I see some changes over Lucid: my computer can now hibernate successfully, a feature that worked in Hardy, but was broken in Karmic and Lucid. But a small annoyance is the strange colors. There is an abundance of purple colors in icons, in links, in indicators. I have attached a small snapshot of my browser. The circled purple area should be blue in normal contions.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with font colors in maverick. Some pages with ordinary text do not display properly, i.e. - text is invisible. It highlights a bit when I highlight it with ctrl + a, but that's about it. I've tried editing Firefox fonts (not working), editing system fonts (not working) and disabling compiz special effects (not working). I figured that maybe there's some corruption somewhere as I've installed loads of stuff in the past months and so should reinstall fonts, but couldn't find info on the net on how to achieve this.

I'm trying to get weather installed/working for conky. In my .conkyrc file I have this code of line

I have the 2 files weather.sh and weather.xslt in its own folder named weather and in weather.sh file I have this line of code..

I gave permission to weather.sh file, on my desktop running conky in the weather section it says Invalid Partner Code. I tried even putting USCA1197 in the .conkyrc file instead of my zip code and still same problem. Do I have to give weather folder permission as well?
Earlier on my wireless is attached as eth1 and it works on to load conky except the Network section is blank. After that I had renamed eth1 to wlan0 and checked at ifconfig it is working fine.Now the conky won't load and I think something to do with my wlan0.

I played around with it and discovered (through trial and error testing) that the code for the CPU temperature crashes conky. It worked before the upgrade. how I can get the CPU temp monitoring working again in kernel 3.0.1? Here is the code that is crashing conky:

I have conky installed and set up as a startup application, however everytime I log out and back in conky creates itself as a new window:
How can I get conky to start normally without having to do a manual restart everytime I login?
i noticed that almost every few seconds my conky just freezes for minute or-two after i add two torrents to download. Actually, it almost doesn�t work/stays freezed almost all the time.Is there something to fix this?

I have conky up and running, but today as I was messing around with the colors for the custom theme, the graphs for cpu temp and network up and down aren't displaying anything.
Here's my conky configuration:

atlast i downloaded 64 bit version of natty. (i m currently using 10.10 32 bit). before i go for a clean install, i wished to test natty (the stable release) by running it from my usb stick. i was able to boot into it and natty identified my wi-fi with a breeze. i wanted to test some configurations that i had customized in maverick. i installed conky in natty and copied the conky script that i used in maverick. i also installed the necessary sensors. now the hitch is the sensors are unable to detect the temperature. is it coz i am running natty from a usb stick or some bug is there in this part ?

What i want is something simple, in my black background i dont want images and effects, only white simple text.
My problem is: i want for instance my specs above, my log info in the middle, my music info bellow (above my clock) and in conky config i'm hitting my head in the wall....
For instance if i use my facebook script to appear in the midle how the hell can i put my music info bellow without ruined the facebook in the midle...do i need 2 conky configs?
I've heard that Compiz is not working in Maverick. Is this true? Has it impacted computers with decent graphics cards much, or is it no big deal? I'm kinda confused, because of the Ubiquity thing. Is that replacing compiz?

My kids are big Lego fans, and since Lego digital designer is quite unstable in WINE I thought I try to give leocad [URL] a try.
So far I haven't had much luck. The stable sources won't compile. I managed to compile an executable from the trunk sources, but it segfaults.
Anyone managed to get leocad working on Maverick?

I have a pc that i have upgraded Ubuntu from version 9.10 to 10.04 to 10.10. Now, in Maverick I can not get rsync to work correctly. The delete option does not work and updated files in the source do not get recreated in the destination. Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong:

Was having an xorg problem earlier now resolved but now the screen is extremely unstable and bouncing. I checked my ATI Fire GL driver and it is installed and working fine.
Is there a CLI I can enter and see the issue or perhaps 10.10 and my drivers are conflicting?
EDIT: I see in synaptic I have nvidia drivers and something called a nouveau display driver. Can I remove those since I run an ATI card?
I updated my ubuntu today from 10.04.1 to 10.10 and my microphone stopped working. I spotted a message during the loading of 10.10 that modprobe failed starting because some file was missing.

The inbuilt terminal works great, but the clutterflow option in the view menu only brings up a blank black screen with the file name only [URL]. The terminal gives this:

I updated my ubuntu today from 10.04.1 to 10.10 and my microphone stopped working. There is no connector option in the input tab to choose the microphone. I checked everything in alsamixer and still nothing. I had no problems in 10.04.1.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have finaly gotten the Canon Pixma MP495 working under Ubuntu 10.10, with full resolution capabilities of the printer.This printer is only advirtised as having a max resolution of 4800x1200 DPI. However, I called Canon to get the full range of print resolutions and was informed that this printer is capable of 9600x2400 DPI.I haven't tested this below Ubuntu 10.04 but it should work fine.
For setting your MP495 printer up on your network without the use of a Windows or Mac machine (Fresh out of the box with Ubuntu) you will need to match your Routers SSID to the printers default SSID, and remove any security you have enabled. This will allow the printer to connect to your network.
Printer Defaults:
SSID: BJNPSETUP
IP ADDRESS: Automatic
Once you have done that you will need to activate the wireless lan on the printer.Press the Maintenance button on the printer 13 times until you see what looks like a capital G without the middle line. Then press the color start button. (refer to page 10 of your Network Setup Troubleshooting manual for an actual picture of the symbol) You should see the wifi light on the front of the printer turn on and be solid not be blinking. (If it is blinking check your routers SSID settings and match the Default SSID of the printer as listed above.
Now download angryipscanner AngryIPScanner and install it by double clicking it. It should open in the Software center or with the Gdebi installer. (this may take a few minutes to install.)Once you have installed AngryIPScanner, run it and change the ip range to include from 1 - 254 in the last octet. Then click start. When it finishes look for an active connection with a Hostname like A001BF000000.local. Yours may be different but should be very simular.
The IP address given for that hostname is the IP address of your printer. Open Firefox and type that address in the address bar and press enter. From there you can configure you printer for the SSID, and encryption that you had on your router before the change, and set a static IP for the printer so you can manage it easily.After you change the SSID and encryption on the printer you will have to go back to your router and change the SSID and encryption back to what it was before so your printer can connect again.Now your network should be back the way it was and your printer should be connected Now that you have successfully connected the printer to your wireless network continue with the rest of the installation. Download the drivers for the MP495 . You will be downloading cnijfilter-mp495series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz.
Extract cnijfilter-mp495series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz to your Home directory.Change the permissions of the install.sh file to run and an executable by Right licking on install.sh and then left clicking Properties. Click on the Permissions tab and put a check mark in the Allow Executing file as program box. Then open a terminal and type: [CODE]sudo ./install.sh[CODE] Follow the prompts and if you are using the printer over the network select network when prompted. I you are using it via USB choose USB. I have been using ubuntu for a year or so with little trouble until now. I have done a fresh install of 10.10 and my second monitor doesnt work. I have Intel G31 graphics. It was working fine with 10.4 and previously 9.4, it displays the bios splash screen and then nothing. System>preferences>monitors does not show it as present at all. Here is my lshw -C video:

I had Bluetooth PAN network working fine in Lucid. For some reason (mainly hardware) I had to upgrade to Maveric. After that my Bluetooth PAN network stopped working at all. I found out that server host do not even expose any PAN or GN profiles. The only profile it exposes is "Hands-free audio". Setting PAND_ENABLE=1 in '/etc/default/bluetooth' did not have any affect. I attempted to start PAND in listening mode and it exposed PAN profile but any connection was unsuccessful. When I try to connect to any other PAN profile it also had no success with 'Permission denied' message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to 10.10 from 10.04 few weeks ago. Everything was working fine until today when I did a partial upgrade and it removed some of the lib files. Now my usb mouse and keyboard is not working. I can move the mouse around but can't click ( left or right ). I have nvidia graphics card. I tried running it under safe graphics mode and when I do that everything works fine except for the compiz obviously. I have tried reinstalling nvidia driver to see if that would make a difference but that didn't work either. I am not sure which lib files did ubuntu removed. I have searched everywhere to find a solution on the web and the only thing I think it might b iz my xconf file iz messed up. I really don't want to reinstall the whole OS and loose all my apps.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had installed pavucontrol in Ubuntu 10.04 to record the sounds being played on the system, by changing the "Record stream for" value to "Monitor of Internal Audio Analog Stereo". I installed pavucontrol in Maverick as well, but here it doesn't capture and show the sounds being played at all, not even in playback (No sound meter bar activity below each entry). The sound can still be decreased/increased and it shows all the devices playing back or recordong. Also if I change the hardware to "Digital duplex" from Analog stereo Duplex" it starts capturing and showing the streams, but then I can't hear anything from the speakers. I even compiled the newest pavucontrol, but still the same.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've upgraded to Maverick but now I cannot get my wireless card working. In Lucid it didn't work out of the box, but worked perfectly by wrapping the Windows driver with ndiswrapper.
I noticed when I installed Maverick that wireless is enabled in Network-Manager and it gives me the option to create a wireless network or connect to a hidden network but it's not discovering/showing any of the wireless networks in range! So it seems as though the card is being recognized but the driver isn't working fully...? I tried wrapping the windows drivers, but that didn't change the situation at all.
