I setup my chat accounts in this new social business, but after a reboot, even though the accounts are checked 'enabled, they did not sign on automatically. I can't fathom that this is expected behaviour. Is anyone else having this problem? Try logging out then logging in.

I can log to other chat rooms but msn as soon as check the enable it appears a red window that said no network connection, but no is so fast that the system I think does not try to connect to msn server is like a lighting cause.

But I already have ubuntu desktop edition so I was wondering if I really have to install a server edition for my limited functionality. We want the users (e.g., me) be able to log in to any of the servers with their own account. So, we define the user accounts in a server that runs NIS service, and configure all the other servers as NIS clients. We also defined several groups for different user groups, so some users belong to several groups. All the user information is populated by NIS. This setup is working in Ubuntu 8.04, AMD64.
Now I upgrade the servers to Ubuntu 10.04 64Bit. The problem is, now if I log in to one of the NIS client servers using SSH, my group membership is lost. However, when I log in directly to the server, the group membership is retained. For example, in the /etc/group file, I defined the user tliu as a number of awww group:

I googled a lot but I didn't find anything about this. I have multiple accounts on the same ftp server (the server is not mine I don't access its configuration)
If I write ftp://hostname on the location bar it lets me login, but only allow me to be in only one account at a time. Putting ftp://hostname on the location again just opens the account I logged into and I'm unable to login to the other account to move files between them conveniently.
Is it possible to log into multiple accounts on the same server?
I recently upgraded my Fedora server from 13 -> 15 and imported all the linux and samba accounts from the old setup. I have the machine operating as a domain server for my network using samba and tbm files for storing user info for samba. I now have all the machine accounts (machine$) show up at the login screen after startup as well as the user accounts. How can I hide these machine accounts like before?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Trillian under Windoz, for one reason only - the email message-handling is amazing. Here are the features that impressed me the most with Trillian:
Check multiple email accounts + notifications (but that exists in many other clients)
Preview subject line + message body teaser (this exists to some extent in Adium)
Preview the above not only upon email-check, but in the client window itself or as tooltips when hovering over email-account name Email ACTIONS - right-clicking on individual messages, can perform common tasks (archive, delete, view, mark as read).
The actions available change for different protocols AUTO LOGIN-when double-clicking the account a browser window will open and automatically log me into the account That last feature is the most important one - at the moment, Pidgin/Adium/Empathy just send me to the email-account's homepage. I have (too) many email accounts, and having to enter login details to each is a pain. With Trillian, I could d-click an account, see my inbox, logout and then d-click another account - and be logged into that one... easy peasy.
Now, this is not a commercial for Trillian... really not. I just haven't found any other client that can do these things, nor have I found plugins for Empathy/Pidgin that enable this. I've been using Pidgin for now, cos it doesn't give any trouble with Skype integration (already tried the skype4empathyandpidgin, didn't work out) and has nice (not amazing) integration to the messaging menu.

Unfortunately, the account does not seem to be locked or disabled. As root, runninng 'su test2 -c <some-command>' always sucessfully runs <some-command>, and leaves the failed attempt count at 6. /etc/shadow does not have an * or ! anywhere in the encrypted password for the 'test1' user.
What am I doing wrong? I thought that with the max attempts set to 0 in faillog, that the deny= parameter would be used. I thought I should be using su <user> -c <command> from the root account to test if the disable feature is working.
I'm hosting a server with Ubuntu 10.04. I've stumbled upon a strange problem.The server seems to refuse any login attempts, either with SSH or via a TTY after a reboot. After a couple of minutes (about 10 minutes or so) I able to login. The memory usage isn't high at login nor the system load. The auth.log doesn't show any login attempt before.problem? Or does anybody have a suggestion I could try to fix this?

1) logging into my GoDaddy account keeps displaying the login screen and not my accounts page (yes, I checked the password)
2) creating an account in bugzilla resulted in an "Invalid OpenID transaction" error message instead of a confirmation page
3) the [URL] page popped up a parser error instead of the website.
Midori and Mozilla 3.0.8 work just fine. Does anybody else have problems with mozilla 3.6.6 and above?

1) How do I let it automatically login? I have set passwordless login.So when I manually hit my login username, it logs in without needing me input password. But it gives a pop-up window asking for keyring password.
2) How to get rid of it?
Ubuntu boots normally, and the login screen appears. When I press the 'g'-keybutton (the first letter op my password), the system complete reboots. Pressing the 'q' does not cause a reboot. Filling out my password using the onscreen keyboard goes OK. After logging in (using the onscreen keyboard method), I can just press the G without problems, and the system is stable.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded my computer from fedora 11 => 12.After moving /home to a separate partition the installation was very simpel.I only had to reconnect my windows system.BUT a strange problem has started to appear.
1) Booting to grub is no problem at all ( I have configured grub to be able to select windows if I want)
2) I always see the grub count down on my screen.
3) then there is a lot of discaccesses but the screen with the fedora symbol is not seen and then my monitor goes to sleep.
4) I usually(always) have to turn my computer off and try again at least three times before the screen with the fedora-sign is seen.
5) If the fedora-sign lights up I have no problem with login and use of the computer.
There seems to be a very unstable situation between grub and XwindowsHas anyone a solution or at least a explanation?
I'm running F13 with KDE 4.4.4 on my desktop PC. A few months ago I had occasion to run Kalarm (invoked via "Kickoff" app launcher). Ever since that time, the Kalarm icon appears in my KDE "system tray" after I login. I power down my PC when I'm finished using it for the day.In an effort to get rid of the Kalarm icon, I changed my KDE "session manager" (System settings -> Advanced -> Session Manager) settings to: "on login: start with an empty session". But the Kalarm icon still appears in my "system tray" after the next reboot/login.I've also tried right-clicking on the Kalarm icon and selecting "quit". The icon still re-appears after the next reboot/login.Why didn't the session manager setting: "on login: start with an empty session" get rid of the Kalarm icon?

When I use the terminal to shutdown/reboot (sudo shutdown -h now or sudo reboot) all goes well. The PC is running Debian Squeeze with the GNOME desktop environment.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIt took me a while..But I finally got samba to be a pdc. I was able to join a test xp machine to the new domain samba made. That part worked well. In my Swat I added a samba new user and password. restarted samba etc.. Then tried to log in from the xp with the new user name as the password. As I hit enter im waiting for it to log in..the XP machine reboots. It seems to do that ever time I try. Im sure theres something not qit right in samba.conf or is it something else.
