View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu 9.10. I have an Nvidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 video card. When I changed my screensaver to something other than blank screen, it screws up my graphics. The Screensaver looks fine in the preview window, but if I click the Preview button (full screen), my screen becomes jerky and slow. My screen savers worked fine in 8.04. I recently upgraded and I began having this problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a video editor that will let me open an AVI video and then save individual frames as image files (preferably JPG), I looked through the "Ubuntu Software Center" the only one that I found in there that would do this is "Video Cut" but when I try to open the 600+ meg AVI video I have it closes a moment later.
Anyone know of a video editor that will open a file this big and not crash?
I have some videos I am looking to share and post to a couple of places. I am looking to preview to the potential downloaders the file quality, plus some statistical info. In Windows Media Players Classic, as shown in my example here, you have the length of the video, file size, file name... and in each frame preview you have a time stamp stating at what part of the video the from is from.is there a program in linux that can do this for me? That can generate the same (or maybe more) info automatically?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a method for leaving the screen saver set to appear after, say 4 minutes, but to NOT have the screen saver activate during a streamed video. For example, any time I wish to stream a video through Firefox, I must open screen saver settings and deactivate. I was wondering if there is some way to maybe lower the priority for the screen saver below Firefox or Flash player, etc. Or if there is another work-around that is simpler than monkeying with the settings every time.
I haven't noticed this problem when using media players to mount local files, such as vlc. I'm running 64-bit KDE 4.6.4 Tumbleweed (from 11.4), FIrefox 4.0.1, Linux 2.6.39.1-33-desktop x86_64. Last 'zypper dup' was done yesterday, 6/28. Sorry if I forgot any important info.
is there anyway to automatically disable screen saver whenever I watch video in full screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had the following problem when I installed ubuntu 10.10: - my video was only able to show 640x480 and the installation was a nightmare (I started more than 10 times until I was able to finish - because right-down buttons are not visible ...) If you need more details about my hardware let me know and I can run some software to collect data about my hardware if is necessary. Basically I have a dual monitor system (one lower resolution and one with higher resolution). A nice fix will be (if possible) to not clone automatically the screen on both screens -> and to give me the option to choose the video settings (before starting the installation - and this screen to have always 640x480 ...)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed the video drivers for my ATi 3870 and I found out the hard way it was the wrong driver, so now upon booting I can only get as far as an Ubuntu screen with some text and then my computer will restart once it reaches that point. It'll keep doing this until I turn it off, and I can't seem to get to a point in which I can get any control over it. I made a live CD but it has the same effect.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have BackTrack 5 installed to my hard drive. I understand that this distro is focused on hacking. I think it is focused on hacking so much so, that there are a multitude of dependancies involving video and even audio, and especially media players omitted. So I was wondering if anyone has ever done this, and I think this is an issue that many wouldn't mind addressing despite finding no similar threads. Any media player I attempt to install requires numerous other files and installations to be present. So I go looking for these other software and when I try installing many of them, they too need software updates. And of course it branches and branches.

While installing XBMC, which was working with my standard Ubuntu install, I accidentally installed NVidia hardware acceleration (sudo apt-get install libvdpau1 nvidia-185-libvdpau) on a notebook with ATI video.
Now XBMC does not work and says it requires OpenGL. apt-get remove does not work for that package because it's transitional. how I can get my stuff working like it was?
How do I check what video driver I have installed in the terminal? Then how do I install or yum install it? I wanna do everything through command line soz.. I have an ATI 4850 I believe.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI frequently need to take screenshots of a game (flash-based, running inside a browser), in particular it's statistics screen which is shown when I hold the TAB key. The problem is, when I take a screenshot, either by pressing PrintScreen key or by pressing a custom-defined shortcut, the game responds to this keypress and hides its statistics screen, so the screenshot doesn't contain the information I need.I figured out how to overcome this using a custom application launcher icon; but this requires using the mouse which is rather inconvenient.define a shortcut that wouldn't be processed by the active application? Or maybe there's some screenshot utility that does this out of the box?
