View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Lucid. I played with compiz and emerald. I put everything back. But my theme is no longer as it was before I started. Similar, but the icon set and windows are a little different. Under 'appearance' the theme, which I'm told is called 'light' isn't visible. And I don't know the original icon set. How can I restore my desktop to look as it did on installation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just been trying to install the Humanity theme from 9.10 into 10.4.Just install the human-theme package:
Code:
sudo apt-get install human-theme
Now you'll see Human and Human-Clearlooks in System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Theme.
I tried installing the package from Launchpad but it can't satisfy the "ubuntu-mono" dependency. I heard that it's the icon theme, but it could also be *the* mono.
How do I install the Light theme on Karmic?
Upgrade to lucid (by running update-manager -d) succeeded with no major error. But when I reboot the computer, the boot splash screen is "Ubuntu Studio" and the login screen's background is a "Ubuntu-eee" png picture. A funny mess.I was able to get to the new boot splash screen by remove --purge ubuntu-studio, which I must have installed sometimes in the past, but I don't see anyway of getting the new theme for the login screen.I have this eeepc for about 2 years and never have to fresh-install Ubuntu except the first time. I much rather not have to fresh-install just to solve some aesthetic problems.I am pretty sure it's due to some package I installed in the past, but I don't see any Ubuntu-eee related package in Synaptic either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOK, I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and since upgrading to the 256.35 drivers from the ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates ppa the ambiance and radiance themes have gone funny. For example the scroll bars and buttons are now very white and when hovering over the time it goes a very bright colour. If I return to the 195 drivers the problem goes, but the 256 drivers have better video vdpau performance. The problem occurs regardless of whether compiz is enabled. The login screen is also affected. My gfx card is an 8600m gs.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is one of two new themes that just came with a "sudo apt-get upgrade" on my Lucid installation. Supposedly, the two themes are part of the same package, "Adium", and the themes look more like the Mac (or KDE) than anything else. The difference between the themes? One is dark, and one is light (The dark version is shown). This is roughly the same philosophy as Ubuntu Sun: Install light and dark themes as "leitmotiv for a lucid release". How do you think of this new theme in Ubuntu?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. It's a Latitude D830. Everything's working well, which is why I decided to start customizing Ubuntu's look. My first stop was gnomelook.org and the other popular theme website for gnome(cant remember the name).Anyway, I could not find what I wanted in a theme so I turned to Ultimate Edition's website. I followed their instructions to add their repo to sources.list. Then tried to install one of the theme packs, only to be told that 'usplash' could not be installed. WHAT!? So, I went ahead and googled the message and found out that 10.04 no longer uses 'usplash', it uses 'plymouth'.
UE's website claims that their themes can be installed in any version of the official Ubuntu releases. All I had to do was follow their instructions to add the repo to sources.list, which I did.Can I force install a theme pack and bypass the 'usplash' error? maybe at the command line with apt?found another site with the Ultimate Edition themes and direct download links. I installed the latest one(UE 2.6 theme pack), package installer didn't complain, installation was successful, but the theme is nowhere to be found on my system. LOL I even went into Synaptic, searched for the theme, it didn't come up.
Is there any way to return default theme, in 9.10? because i have installed full mac theme and i really messed everything up, but now i'm bored, so is there any way restore everything easy?

View 1 Replies View RelatedUpgrade install to 11.04 using unity theme. I get random white screens/panels. first time was the whole login screen, second is the body of notepad but terminal works fine. I can enter content and it works, sometimes if I refresh it draws the body correctly, sometimes when I change focus it does not work. That happened with Firefox. I have everything updated and I have not changed anything. No private drivers to install. I'm guessing its just a setting somewhere.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently went through a desktop crisis after removing unity from 11.04, installing openbox, hating it, and then installing Gnome 3. What's weird is certain applications like chrome and some other system things appear to use the theme I have (as in, they look nice) but windows like terminal, file browser, and most other applications including the default log in screen all look like windows 95.
you can see the square unstyled buttons. I'm just wondering how to apply a full on system theme to apply to all windows in gnome 3. tweak-gnome didn't look like it could do it, and after running through the themes (redmond, clearlooks, etc) they didn't have any impact on these windows.
