Is there any apps for Ubuntu that can play a song at a slower speed yet keep the tone (like windows media player)? For instance I want to play a song at half speed so I can learn the guitar part... I have done this with windows.
I am slowly converting one of my father's old laptop to ubuntu. He is learning to play a musical instrument and used WMP to slow down songs he was trying to play.
I have got Fedora 13 x86_64 with KDE. I installed the Fluendo MP3 Plug-In so I could play songs in Amarok. But the first ~15 seconds of every song are really lagging, the rest of the song sounds fine. I tried to set it to an external MySQL database, but then all my music disappears.
I need to transcript some recordings to a friend of mine. I woule like to have the sound playing slower than usual. Is it possibe on any Ubuntu (L. Lynx) anyway? How?
I have debian lenny, when I run an application is slow to load (example: iceweacel open and it takes, I can hold him iceweacel work normally), I tried to change from gnome to another and the same thing, went down some services (samba, squid) and nothing. I open a terminal and it takes, I want to duplicate it and do it fast. From a terminal without X (tty1) with root run mc and moves quickly, also run as root "sudo mc" and takes to boot.Any action done with sudo it takes to run.Can not be what it takes to make starting the applications, not the PC because it is new, and from one moment to another I began to pass this
Good evening. I just loaded the latest release on my box and noticed after configuring my vid card, that Ubuntu is slow running. When I click something as simple as Ubuntu Software Manager it takes almost 30s-1m for the application to come up. If this was one of my old boxes I could understand this but this is a fairly new box.
Below are my system specs. MB - SiS 661FX w/latest bios CPU - P4 3.2Ghz w/1G L2 cache Memory - 2GB unbuffered Hard Drive - SATA Seagate 1.5TB 7200RPM drive CDROM/DVD - Lighton SATA Videocard - ATI HD 3600 (yes I've installed the drivers according to the Maverick Wiki)
I recently installed OpenSUSE 11.3 amd64 from DVD on a new HP 625 Laptop. Whenever networking is activated, application startup slows down significantly. When I deactivate networking in the nm-applet application startup is fine. I am using the broadcom-wl package from packman for the broadcom wireless card (BCM4313)
We recently shifted our applcation and database to LINUX from UNIX.so now application server(weblogic 8.1) is on linux and oracle database 9i is on linux.previously there is a process in application server(which access the Database dor the data) which took only 1 hour to run on UNIX after shifting to LINUX the same process is taking 4 to 5 hours to run.
but when individually ran the queries on the database it is quck than UNIX.our ADMIN tried changing the kernel parameters for the database server, but it is still the same.
I've just today received my copy of Ubuntu 10.04, and I have to say so far I'm loving it a whole lot more than Ubuntu 9.10. However I am having one problem with managing my iPhone 3G. The device shows up in Rhythmbox, but I am unable to add music to the iPhone library.
I'm using the iPhone 3.1.3 firmware, so I know that's not an issue. Has anyone got any idea as to how to solve this?
iPhone 3G; Ubuntu 11.04; tried Banshee, Rythmbox, and Amarok. It looks like the songs went on my iPhone when I look at Rythmbox or Banshee under Devices. However, when I go to to the iPhone, I cannot see the songs under iTunes. Nothing is there
is there a way of playing songs that are available in the internet using totem music player, or any other application. for example, this link http://fizy.com/s/1ai91v refers to a song that is present on a web page. i want to play it on a music player, and many other songs also. my aim is to create a playlist of songs that are available on the internet. so i can listen to those songs whenever i am online.
what is a smart way of doing it.? i dont mean downloading, because those songs cant be downloaded but can only be listened.
For some reason, Rhythmbox will show itself playing a song (the notification in the top right corner) but I hear no sound. I can go to the application itself and see the play slider moving. I can't pause it or anything. if it's a bug in Rhythmbox itself. If I browse to the directory, and right click > Open with Rhythmbox, it works perfectly (although I still can't pause it)
Also, if I jump to another song, and then play the song it was playing silently, it works. Not sure why it does this.
I doubt it's the files themselves because I've been downloading all my songs from one site, and never had an issue in iTunes on a windows PC. It only does this to about 3 songs out of 164. It used to do this to only 2, but now it's doing it to 3 since the past few days when adding more songs.
I ripped 2 music CDs for a total of 78 minutes, but K3b won't burn them to a blank CD-R. It says the free space in temporary folder is 615.5 MB, but the size of project is 691.5 MB. I don't know why the tmp directory is that small when I have 615 GB free on my filesystem. When I start the burn, it simply says copying, but nothing shows up in the progress bars. I am able to burn direct copies of CDs, however. After a couple of tries and a couple of successful burns of entire CDs, I tried again, and it crashed.
I wanted to try gapless playback on Rhythmbox, but I can't find the "crossfade between songs" option anywhere. See here for comparison: [URL] and mine: [URL] where is this option gone?!
I can't put new songs on my iPod anymore. When I add some new songs to my playlist its only show this message:Error while writing to'/media/IPOD/iPod_Control/Music/F06/libgpod613395 (No such file or directory)
When I opened Banshee today and tried to play a certain song, the player crashed. When I opened the player again, it continued to crash for only the same songs.
Here's the output: Code: [Info 11:19:22.275] Running Banshee 1.8.0: [Ubuntu 10.10 (linux-gnu, i686) @ 2010-11-26 13:53:04 UTC] [Info 11:19:22.620] Starting collection of anonymous usage data [Info 11:19:23.353] Updating web proxy from GConf [Info 11:19:23.397] All services are started 0.900266 [Warn 11:19:23.553] Forcefully breaking out of RCS loop b/c change in total_width less than 1.0 [Info 11:19:24.110] nereid Client Started [Warn 11:19:24.252] Caught an exception - System.ArgumentNullException: Argument cannot be null .....

I temporarily fixed this by disabling all extensions, reenabling them, then restarting Banshee, but the problem came back a few minutes later.
I want to listen to my iPod Touch 4g using Banshee, connecting is not a problem, my problem is that all the songs are protected so when one song is done it just stays there idle it doesn't play any other songs. Is there a way to unprotect them so I can listen to them w/o worrying about it turning idle?
All my music is already synced, but every time a song finishes playing in Banshee, a notify OSD message appears letting me know that song is being uploaded to my Ubuntu One account. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit.
im brand new to kubuntu and ived never used amarok before and its kinda confusing me. i have all my songs imported and they all show up, but they wont play. double clicking them doesnt do anything, though at the bottom right of the amarok window it says "now playing [song title]". ive gotten a few songs to play but not most of them.
I am very new to linux. i just install fedora 12 from live cd. every thing is fine but when i want to play mp3 songs then error come MPEG-1 layer 3 decoder not found. and finally songs are not playing. So please tell me what should i do.
i cant download them..it always need some codes or things like that..I lost my mp3 player today..so i bought an ipod shuffle (3rd generation 2GB)..but it was easy to download songs to my mp3..unlike this tech-toy called "ipod.." it needs itunes..or some other stupid software..sadness!..and i cant download itunes or other stuff on linux..cause they dont support linux..anyways..i want to know..how i can download songs to my ipod using linux..SIMPLE!..please help me..i hate it..i checked the forums..they are always talking about some formats and codes and stuff..i dont have the time to understand them..explain it to me in a simple way..please..i tough linux was for humans ..when i connect my ipod to my computer it's icon is on the desktop..and i can open it and stuff..but when i put songs in it..it wont play them..it sais "please use itunes to sink songs to this ipod"..yea fuck it.
I recently installed Ubunut 9.10, and I plugged my Ipod 5g nano in, and Rythmbox detected the music and played everything. When I was done, I unplugged everything. Okay, so I did this iver a few days, but everynow and then, Ubuntu would freeze when my ipod was plugged in. Now when I unplug my ipod, it dosent detect any songs. But when I plug it into any computer (mac, windows, linux, etc.) itdetects the music and i can play it. But when unplugged, my ipod says no music is detected.
There is a feature in MS Windows OS that allows users to play the songs on their mobile on the computer via bluetooth, i.e., the users can use the computer speakers as a bluetooth headset. Are there any ways or any software to do the same in GNU/Linux?
