Slackware :: Right-click Menu On A Rectangle Coincides With A Right-click On Desktop?

Apr 30, 2011

After I adjust my slackware and rebooted I saw a strange "rectangle" on my desktop. Please, look at the screenshots below and tell me how I should solve this problem.

I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.

Ubuntu :: Can't Click On Any Windows In Compiz

May 9, 2010

Just to preface this, I do have compiz running.

I'm facing a bug where any time I click anywhere inside a window, it performs the function of ALT-clicking the window -- just dragging it around the screen. The only way I can do a standard click on the window is if I hold down the ALT key.

I think this is a compiz issue, since it is fixed by killing compiz. I've had this issue before, but I can't remember how I solved it.

Ubuntu :: Cancel Winkey + Middle Click Zooming In Compiz?

Aug 30, 2010

Sometimes I accidentally winkey + middleclick with compiz, which makes the desktop zoom into a small box. So far, every time it happens, I usually just log out, then log back in and it fixed it. Is there a more proper way to return the desktop back to it's normal unmagnified state?

Ubuntu :: Able To Click Anything In GIMP With Pen - Wacom And Unity / Compiz Incompatibility

Jul 3, 2011

When working in GIMP using a Wacom pen (which I do a lot), not all the lines I draw show up. Maybe every 1 in 5 lines, just don't show up, and it's like the brush outline freezes. This becomes pretty annoying when drawing, which is why I log in standard GNOME without effects when using GIMP.

There is a minor problem that I think may be related, and that is that sometimes when I open a windows in GIMP, such as the Save or Open dialog, I won't be able to click anything in it with my pen. I then need to click the canvas in the background, and after that everything works. It seems as though the brush is stuck on the canvas, which is similar to what happens when drawing. I've tried different compiz settings with vSync and others, but nothing that made this work. This also seems to only be a problem when using a Wacom pen, and not when using the mouse.

I was just wondering about something. I have linked the middle click to initiate the cube rotation and it works perfectly except when I have the cursor on firefox. Then it just acts like I middleclicked in firefox itself. Personally I like this behaviour but was wondering why it is JUST firefox that has it. Would be great if I could achieve the same in Blender

OpenSUSE Hardware :: NVidia One Click Install - Compiz

Jul 8, 2010

Basically what has happened is that I have installed the nvidia drivers for a 9800 GT from the One-click install for the newer video cards. It seems to have succeeded although I am having difficult activating 3D effects. What happens is that whenever I activate Compiz settings, it works for about 2 seconds (wobbly windows is my test) and then quickly goes back to standard. Is this something I have done wrong or is my hardware incompatible? It works in other distributions I have tried so I'm assuming it is a fault on my part.

General :: KDE Stop Virtual Desktop Changing When Click On The Desktop?

Sep 18, 2011

I'm new to KDE and am running KDE 4.7.1 on top of Arch Linux. It's fantastic however I have one problem - virtual desktops. Yeah I know there are those "activities" things which people say replace virtual desktops and I will look into them, but for the moment I want to stick with what I know.

And it's almost set up too. In fact, it is, apart from one issue: Say I'm on desktop 3 and I click on the desktop (as in - the bit with my wallpaper, etc, not the little square in my panel) - it immediately switches to desktop 1. Got no idea why I'd want it to do that and it's bugging me.

Ubuntu :: Stop Inactive Windows From Loosing Their Opacity?

Jun 6, 2011

turn off the feature that causes the inactivate windows to loose their opacity. I use two monitors and have a number of applications running on each monitor. All the windows on the monitors have important information that I use. However, all the windows that are not active loose opacity and it's very hard to read their content unless I constantly click on the windows. One of my next upgrades for this year includes adding a Video card that has support for more than two monitors so that I have easily have even more windows in view. With the opacity lost it's going to be very hard t work in the environment.

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 with the default Unity desktop. By the way, I'm sure if I boot into Ubuntu Classic or Unity 2D the problem would go away. However, I'm trying to use the default Unity desktop, as much of my reading appears to indicate some of the alternate boot options might be eventually be removed as an option. Also, I would like to experience the Unity as suggested by the developers. So hopefully this is a feature of the Unity 3D that has a user adjustment control.

Ubuntu :: Right Click GONE When 'Hide Desktop' Activated / What To Do?

May 3, 2011

I've been into Linux since about 6 months, & I love it. Thanks to everyone....

Anyway, Due to the bad habit of windows habits, I've many Desktop Icons on my Desktop.
I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO HIDE THEM. I know both the ways for hiding them...

BUT, the problem is, whenever I hide Icons, the desktop RIGHT CLICK DROP-DOWN MENU goes too!! There's no right click menu then.
But as soon as I activate SHOW DESKTOP ICONS, the menu comes back... Pretty obvious why. But how can I prevent it???

I need HIDDEN desktop icons, ALONG with DESKTOP RIGHT CLICK MENU.
SO, my dear fellows, please enlighten me. WHAT SHOULD/CAN I DO?

Ubuntu :: Unable To Click Windows On Different Planes Of The Desktop

Jan 22, 2011

know how to explain this, but I'll try to the best I can. I installed from wubi, so I don't know if that matters, but here goes.

When I'm using ubuntu, I'm unable to click on any windows/elements outside of my current window, or use the close/minimize/maximize buttons. For example right now, in firefox, I am unable to use either of the taskbars or minimize the window. I can't click any of the icons on the desktop or anything, either, and if a page triggers a popup, I can't do anything with it. The thing is, though, interestingly, unplugging and replugging my USB mouse fixes it until I click on something again. I have no clue if it's a driver issue, a hardware issue (my mouse works fine on windows, though), or just a misconfiguration in the OS somewhere.
