View 4 Replies View RelatedAdobe Air 2.0 has finally been released, has anyone tried it? It's supposed to support 64 bit systems now, but I still can't get it to work! When I download the .deb from Adobe's site I get a wrong architecture error message when I try to open it, and there doesn't seem to be a 64 bit version that I can find. When I go to BBC IPlayer it goes through all the instalation steps and I got Adobe Air and BBC Iplayer listed under Accesories in my list of programs. However when I tried to open BBC IPlayer it worked normally for about 10-15 seconds and then vanished for no apparent reason. I rebooted and now Air and IPlayer do not appear on the list of programs, although if I try and dowload a programme from the IPlayer website I get the IPlayer desktop up and working for about 10-15 seconds until it inexplicably vanishes again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe bad news comes that active support for Mint6 is set to end Apr. 30. The worse news is I don't know what to do about it. Complicating this is that I have about 5 drive partitions and duplicate Mint6 operating systems because of password problems and just partitioning the drive and rebooting the OS instead of trying to fix the issue. I hear good things about Mint8, but my 80 Gig drive is getting pretty thin on partitions. I know there must be a way to safely remove the partitions and duplicate operating systems. I just don't know how to do it.

It is using reverse proxy on apache to redirect requests to apache2 running on any machine which is on Xen server as a Virtual host. I tried to install Drupal on it. Every thing went fine till I pointed my browser to:
http://IP[/url] of LAN where Drupal was installed/drupal
then I see an installation page of Drupal which welcomes me. I click install in English then it can not proceed to connect with database. Database configuration: Your web server does not appear to support any common database types. Check with your hosting provider to see if they offer any databases that Drupal supports.
I have created a database and username for Drupal separately. What should I check to. There is one more error

Sometimes within a project, I have e-mail/task management/personal e-mail/twitter, and a lot of different opened applications/terminals in my Linux workstation.Sometimes it would be interesting to have different workspaces to projects instead of this configuration I have nowadays that are classes of work (bad name, I know, but I think you got the idea).I'm starting to think about using two monitors: one with Corporate Management, Work and Personal. The second monitor is only the development state: each workspace here is about a project being worked on instead of groups of works like before. A workspace may be implementing different classes for example.
My question is: I just want to change to a second monitor using the mouse. I want to still be able to change workspaces in the same monitor using keyboard shortcuts. The keyboard shortcuts wouldn't change monitors, just worskpaces on the same monitor. All the tutorials I read (like this one) only tells how to use multiple monitors but doesn't answer my question about keyboard shortcuts.Does Linux (Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx or Debian 5.0.5 Lenny) support this envisioned setup (Different workspaces in a way that keyboard workspace switching only works in the current monitor) ? If so, how?I haven't tested this setup, that's why I'm asking. In this question the user says it works exactly how I want it to behave, can someone else confirm it?
am using zabbix open source solution for systems monitoring. With some digging, it seems that I can't access the database that housed my posts (wordpress installation). I looked for the datadir in MySQL and that directory shows the wordpress directory that should be holding the database and all the files are still there. 1) why the database no longer shows up 2) how to restore the database from the files?

We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to dual-boot Windows 7 and Debian 6 upon its release on my sister's laptop. I want to share a partition between the two of them so that /home points to this directory and the Windows equivalent also points to it (C:Users).
Anyway, I've heard good and bad things about the NTFSMount driver (I think it's NTFS-3G now) and the NTFSprogs project and so I am not so certain what I should believe. I do know that NTFS has relatively high overhead, though I do not recall the source of this assertion, so I am considering the use of EXFAT. An open source EXFAT project is hosted on Google Code at [url] and it utilizes the kernel module FUSE.
I'm quite certain that I've got everything covered on the Windows side -- that is, I know that both NTFS and EXFAT will be suitable filesystems for my required usage.
My issue is that I'm curious which will have superior performance and stability in Debian. I planned on building the package from source and mounting the device in my FSTAB but I have also found a PPA for Ubuntu on Launchpad at [url] that I could borrow the debian/rules from and make a .deb package from.
What do you guys think? Should I go at it with the EXFAT or NTFS partitioning? Is NTFS-3G actually fairly supported at this point? Or perhaps should I consider some alternate method?
I have also considered that the only files she will be sharing are those of music, videos, and pictures so it could be better to just link /home/xxxx/Pictures (Music and Videos, too) to the new partition instead of all of /home.
I would like to know if it is possibile to have support for wi-fi midi support in linux.

Minimized in a way that there is even no apt-get or dpkg installed on it, due to keep the memory footprint as small as possible.Is there a way to keep a "shadow" system in a directory on my Laptop (e.g. ~/armel), maintained with dependencies by a package manager like apt-get? This would allow to install addition packages including all dependent with a simple apt-get call.Of course, later I have to put the whole tree from my Laptop towards my embedded controller. I've already tried the following:Setup a directory tree behind ~/armel for apt by a copy from my laptops Lenny

I'm trying to install a SDK iso image onto an embedded linux platform. I was able to mount the image on the platform without problems. I also created a symbolic link called "bash" in the bin directory and had that point to busybox to satisfy the first line of code in the installer: "#!/bin/bash". However, when I run the installer, I get an error: "installer: applet not found"
I get the same error when I type "bash" on the command line. Is there a way to fix this? Here is the first few lines of code that causes the error:

I searched the menu-bar of gedit, i searched the web, i searched the help of gedit.(try a search on "change background to black for gedit" and similar and you know what i have gone through).If i use the embedded terminal in gedit (the only reason i use gedit at all) its background color is set to white.I barely can read it and it is useless.This is not a gnome-installation. I'm looking for a way to remove embedded features from a PDF document. I recently purchased a Kindle DX. When I try to open some of my PDF files on the device, I get a message saying: this pdf cannot be opened due to embedded features not yet supported by kindleI'm looking for a way to remove the use of these features from the document so I can view it on my Kindle. I'm a Ubuntu Linux user. (I tried opening the PDF in Document Viewer and printing it to a PDF file by going to File->Print. This make it so I could open it on the Kindle DX, but the font is messed up and very difficult to read. This won't do.)
