Trying to write a small php program to send emails using a form. I have collected all the information in php variables and I can send the mails just fine. But I need some neat and clean formatting for the mail that is received and hence thought html tables would be nice. But all the html tags are received as plain text and not html though I have mentioned in headers content-type to be html. Any links? If anyone can put some light on it? I thought that html tags would just work fine without much issue. I have tried same with asp and it worked.
PS: I am no programmer. Just trying my hands out on some php.
Edit: I am using a php mailer class from php classes to send mails. I need some way to use an external smtp server for sending mails. I have seen pear but I do not want to use pear. It is not available on the server I am testing and it is not possible for me to install it. I do not have access to install pear and can not ask to install it.
I'm fairly new to Linux so I'm going to need a step-by-step guide to get me out of this rut. The install of Linux was fine but when I booted up I got this error. VFS: Cannot open root device "302" or unknown-block (3,2) append a correct "root=" boot option;here are the available partitions;

Kernel panic - not syncing:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (3,2) I guessed from reading this error Lilo isn't pointing to the right partition to boot from? How will I fix this? I read another thread about boot problems on these forums and a guy said to do this:

#chroot /slacktemp
#cd /slacktemp/etc <-- for me it told me that doesn't exist
#vi lilo.conf <-- couldn't do nothing and was frozen

You don't run x windows in the cession. Let say you run init 3 at the prompt and login your acount. Is it possible to run a command that let you open a little screen with graphic interface and that accept the mouse. Exactly the inverse of the console in an X environment.

I am running Centos 5.5 with Apache 2.2.3, MySql 5, and PHP 5.1.6. I am migrating a Drupal installation to the default html folder for development purposes. I am very new to server management, and a bit lost.I want to install some other web sites on the sandbox server to experiment with before uploading them to a Production environment. Is it possible to have multiple html folders? Or to use symlinks to point to the folders where the other web sites will reside?

After using wget -r, all the chapters are now in the same folder on my local hard drive. I've just installed ubuntu 10.04 server on an old box to use as a home server for network storage. I've managed to get wireless working, and now have started to tinker with the base system (it's more of an experimental machine than a critical backup server!). I've installed xorg-core and JWM, and have set it up to function as a basic GUI in case my main box goes down and I need access to these forums. I can start JWM by using

I am using CentOS release 5.5 (Final) server.
I know this is a common problem, but i have a special case that troubles me and i can't find an answer anywhere. The facts are like this: I have a linux router. I have 2 FTP servers. One on port 21, one on port 201 (on the same internal IP). The FTP works great when connecting on both servers from the outside. My problem is when i'm trying to connect to the 201 FTP server from inside the network using the external ip.
I get this:
ftp> ls
200 Port command successful
150 Opening data channel for directory list.
And it stays like this forever.
I got Apache and php5. I was able to insert php scripts from tutorial and see the results in Mozilla browser. But now something happened and Apache seems to ignore php script. I don't remember what i had done to my system that might have caused this problem, but most likely it is moving partitions in partition aditor, as this was the most serious thing I had undertaken.

I'm using Slackware 13.0 on my server and am going to be employing a file-sharing service for a client. I was able to enable a quota, but my problem now is keeping the user inside their home directory. I've searched around and found an old thread on here (from 2003) that gave me some ideas, but it still isn't working. Should I be running vsftpd standalone or leave it on the inetd? If I set the shell to /sbin/nologin or /bin/false, the user can't log in through FTP, even.

I just did yet another fresh install of OpenSuse 11.1, (no DVD drive otherwise I would use the newer version), all updates have been performed, I installed apache2 and it's modules, php5 and some of the modules I needed, mysql, sshd for local only access, and webmin, postfix is used only for local mail between php scripts and the system, mainly because out-of-the-box, postfix is an open relay, and can take weeks to configure as an SMTP server, so I have to use php scripts that do not use a mail server, anyway.
The problem is, apache2 only seems to know how to serve php files, html files only get shown on ANY browser as source code not the contents.
I've been trying for 3 weeks,,, messing with this option, setting that option, and screwing up the system, hence reformatting and re-installing OpenSuse several times, so if anyone wants to try and get apache to serve html files properly and to have apache use mod_rewrite as default on ANY folder whether inside or outside the document root, I can give that person full ssh access. I've got to the point now, that I don't really give a damn what happens to the server.
What I should be able to do, is, leave the apache and php setting as default,,, upload either an html or php file to the document root and direct a browser to the address, and it'll work without changing a single item, the same is if that file has rewrite, it should work flawless, or if I upload an html or php file to a folder outside the doc root, I change the doc redirect to point to the folder, and it should work without changing anything else.
I have displayed web pages (e.g., index.html) under fedora 4, 5, 7, 8 before with no difficulty. Now I troed to do similar thing under Fedora 12, and I cannot display index.html. Is Fedora 12 special? I did '#tail -f /var/log/httpd/error-log' and noticed a line:
"SELinux policy enabled; httpd running as context system_u:system_r:httpd_t:s0"
Is the SELinux policy blocking me from displaying index.html page?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt our university server, I patched together a script (lets call it connect.py) that kind of glues together a series of calls to different other programs (the first one is in Python2.X, the second is a binary so I use os.system('/path/to/program input.pot') to start it, and the last is in Python3.X). It kind of seems to work well now when working under my user account, where the script has the permissions to call the programs, because I installed them.Now, when I want to start the connect script by pressing a submit button in an HTML form, naturally I start running into trouble. Now its no longer my user who is calling, but the server (Apache) with very limited rights. In the progress of writing the connect.py script, I had to do quite some environment adjustment so the various Python modules could be imported.
What is the easiest way to get the script started from an HTML form? I guess it would not be good practice to start extending the PATH variables of Apache, would it?
I setup a private network from virtual machines and one of the machines is the DHCP server for the group. I want to specify a next-server for the DHCP server but I'm having trouble connecting to any of the machines that I lease IPs to. I'm just trying to do a simple ping/ssh to 10.0.0.252 (a machine with a lease) but it doesn't seem to respond. I'm assuming I need to be able to connect to my next-server but maybe I'm wrong.

I've just started playing with virtualization and I started my first VM. I would like to know if it's possible for the host machine to mount the partitions of the VM when it's closed. Right now the VM uses /dev/vg0/vm1 and has 3 partitions on it. I tried mount /dev/vg0/vm1 ~/vm1 at first before I remembered that I'd need a way to mount a specific partition inside the logical volume, not the volume itself!

I also get valid email sent to the root and administrative accounts from within my local network. I am running an embedded Linux on my FPGA prototype board with a MicroBlaze soft processor. On this Linux i am running a httpd web server - I can serve html web pages to the outside through Ethernet connection. Now, I have a program written in C in this embedded Linux in /bin/gpio-test that does some stuff with my IO devices. Now I would like to control these IO devices through HTML web page - so I would like to be able to run this gpio-test program from a html web page and possibly send the program some parameters.
