I am going crazy with a gzip file. I can decompress the file in Windows using WinRAR but it is impossible on any UNIX operating system. the file seems to be ok. If I do file the_name_of_the_file.gz
I get: the_name_of_the_file.gz: gzip compressed data, from Unix, last modified: Sun Jan 30 14:10:21 2011
But if I do gunzip -f the_name_of_the_file.gz I alsways get: gzip: the_name_of_the_file.gz: unexpected end of file The same problem happens when I try to extract the file using the GUI tool in Ubuntu or MacOSX,
I have installed debian on my dell latitude d630 laptop and am currently making a derivative for others to use. however I can't get the wireless to work. I downloaded it from the broadcom site but it comes as a gzip file instead of a deb file. if I extract the gzip file I don't get any installable (deb) files. I need the wireless to work because now a bridged network from my windows laptop isn't working.
Using lucid LTS, I have no problem installing dropbox using either the website download .deb, or adding it to my repositories.
The problem comes when I try and run the software. At this point it unsuccessfully tries to download the required proprietary daemon.
In the terminal, running:
'sudo dropbox start -i'
Gives:
Starting Dropbox...Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/dropbox", line 242, in handle_data_waiting self.unpack_dropbox() File "/usr/bin/dropbox", line 252, in unpack_dropbox
I am trying to upload an IOS in the cisco NAC Appliance. The IOS version has to be updated as 4.8. I am getting the below error when i tried. What if two programs say ftpd and httpd need to acces the same directory? Any way to set context type of that directory to httpd_t and ftpd_t? What do you do in a case like this?
For the first time in installed and configured centos-ds from this HowTos and from the manuals. It is running nicely but disabled my httpd. Is it not possible to run directory service and httpd in the same machine
I have installed fedora 13 in my system. httpd server is also installed. when I tried to start the service of httpd, following error message displayed: Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
I have just configured CentOS server my new office. This is the first time I am using CentOS.
Whenever I am trying to change the webroot of the httpd server, it usually say "directory doesn't exist". whereas which can't be the case as it is home directory of the user.
To achieve this, what Do I need to do?
The second issue, I am facing that whenever I am adding new directories to public_html folder, it is not accessible. as the error page 404 is shown. I have changed the permissions to 0705 and ownership is also transferred to other user. What else is required to make new directories accessible by the web?
Does anyone know about the sea_urchin log? what does it do? how can I shut it off. there seems to have an automatic process somewhere because every time I deleted the var/log/httpd/sea_urchin log file, it will regenerate the log file again on sunday.
I have one previously compiled apache server from source. I would like to know is there any option to get previous configuration file from /etc/httpd/.
While trying to run the file in PHP I am getting below error. httpd.conf not found Following directories (and its subdirectories) are accesible via Apache:
I am using CentOS 5.6 with Apache 2.2.17. The Apache was compiled from source using RPM build to comply with PCI requirements. Also Plesk 9.3 is used as a control panel, but other than the config files the Apache is pretty standard. When the httpd is started, there are no errors reported in /var/log/messages or in the error_log, and the httpd starts, shows up in ps and the pid file exists in /var/run/httpd.pid.
However when you check the status 'service httpd status' you get 'httpd dead but subsys locked'. You can add websites normally, and the proper config files are generated so I am pretty sure this isn't a control panel issue as I have other servers running the same control panel and Apache 2.2.16 compiled and installed the same way as the 2.2.17 and there are no problems.
Running CentOS 5 x64 And today my httpd is running very slow and I can't find a fix. Looked all over different forums
When starting httpd I get the message: /var/lock/subsys/httpd': No space left on device I checked that directory above and there is no file called httpd tried rebooting server
Can't do updates too: [root@u15438957 ~]# yum update Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities rpmdb: unable to join the environment
I'm installing Wordpress and I want Hosting Multiple Sites with them. For that I need modify the httpd.conf file but it's empty. Where I can make that changes? These are the changes:
1. Type: LoadModule rewrite_module /libexec/mod_rewrite.so 2. Find the <VirtualHost> section in the httpd.conf file. 3. Find a line in the <VirtualHost> section of the httpd.conf that looks like this: AllowOverride None 3. Replace that line with this line: AllowOverride FileInfo Options 4. On a new line, type ServerAlias *.[URL]. 5. Save the httpd.conf file and close it.
I turned my home PC running Ubuntu 10.04 into a server, and so i am so lost, after reading like a 10-20 different guides and/or official docs, I am totally lost.
All I wanted was to create a custom 404 error page...i read about how people edited .htaccess files to customize error pages, i tried and failed also, editing apache2.conf, I got lost and i dont wanna mess up everything and also, how you're supposed to not touch either of those as its not how it should be done and instead you need to edit httpd.conf and i did and FAILED! again...
Also how do I make it so that I can make subdomain(s) on my site? and wth is a name server and where do I get one?
I've done a low level format on them so they're completely empty. When I use them with my windows machines, they're absolutely fine. When I plug them into my Ubuntu machine, there is a hidden directory created called 'RECYCLER' which I'm assuming is for deleted files? However, it also creates a .exe file in this directory called 0x2D9FA278 which has an Icon with an H in it and a comment of 'Facebook Photo' This has the effect of making all the directories on the stick into shortcuts! I googled the file name and it seems to be some sort of Trojan, but I don't understand how it's go into my Ubuntu machine, I've scanned with ClamAV and it finds nothing.
I downloaded a mouse theme form gnome look and installed it in the themes. But it has not appeared in the pointer themes section in custimation even though it said that it is installed correctly. When I drag the file to install it again it says something along the lines of it cannot copy a directory over a directory.Where can I find where the mouse/pointer theme is located and delete it. I have searched filesystem, google and these forums and not had any luck yet.

What does this code do, why, and what's causing it to go wrong?
It's meant to move old files from my Downloads folder into an archive file (later tar them). The directory exists, I've used $PWD and nautilus and ls to make sure it's there, yet for every file it gives
Code: find: `cp /home/chris/Download/foo.bar /home/chris/Downloads/ARCHIVE/2011-08-19': No such file or directory I tried to test it on a different destination, specifically my home folder. IT still gave me the error.IS it a bad syntax within find or something else? I'm running a 32-bit system with 11.04
Iam currently having a security issue due to a uninvited intrusion happen few days back. I've been checking the server for any possible backdoor but i could not find any. anyway i've finally found a weird SSH login logger which will log any successful SSH connection"id & password" (scary). The file was located under /dev/ and named "httpd". Im totally blank now. Dont know where to start troubleshooting.
