I've had this problem in the past, but it's more frequent for me now. Running Ubuntu Karmic (9.10), and if my browser is open long enough the audio in flash dies until I restart my browser. I'm running Chromium (non-google branded). I'm fairly certain this is happening in Firefox too.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have some strange behavior with Flash content on FF4 on Hulu. I am using the latest Flashplayer (10.2.153.1). On the hulu landing page, parts of the flash overlay disappear (or turn dark) and re-appear randomly. I tried taking screenshots of that happening, but the captured images do not contain any artifacts!
This does not happen on Chromium (12.0.722), and I could not verify this on Opera11 because Hulu would not load on it. Specs: Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64, Compiz, Firefox 4.0, Flash 10.2.153.1 on Intel C2D w/Intel 4-series graphics.
Since updating to 10.10, randomly sometimes the CPU usage will just up (although it's generally only 1 of the cores), it seems that it might be the Xorg process using it.
Audio and Video will start to stutter and the screen will stop updating so things like the terminal will appear frozen unless the mouse is moved.
When moving the mouse the screen keeps updating and the cpu usage lowers (although video still skips).
After a few minutes the problem just seems to go away until it happens again later.
I'm having problems keeping audio working. Using Sparky with 3.16.0-4 kernel on a homebuilt PC. AMD A10-7850K CPU on a Gigabyte F2A88FN-WIFI mobo.
I'm using a set of Logitech Z-5 USB speakers and I repeatedly lose all audio output. To get it back I need to do 1 or all of these steps:
1) Unplug the speakers
2) Kill all processes that may be producing audio (Chrome beta, IceWeasel, Exaile, etc.)
3) Start Alsamixer and select another source in sound card list then reselect USB card #2.
4) The weird one - Remove and then re-add the volume applet that I like to have in the panel. When I lose sound th slider gets "stuck" and will not move. It will not recover.
I may need to repeat this several times but it will come back. Not immediately after any step but after a few attempts it just begins working as long as nothing is trying to produce audio at the moment. Sometimes Alsamixer says that my USB Card has no controls when I reselect it, not every time though.
Most of the time if I have more than 1 source open at any time it is likely to die again, for instance I like to stream Google Play Music. If I pause that but leave it open, then try to watch a Youtube video or other source I will either get no audio from either source, or lose the streaming audio source when I try to restart it. Going through the above routine 1 or more times usually restores it.
I have created asoundrc.conf file to tell system to use USB audio as described here -> [URL] ..... In my case USB is # 3 in the list. So this is my file:

When I'm using various music players in debian, the audio always skips at random intervals, but still continues.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.04 on a Dell Vostro Laptop, under Windows. After 15-30 min, the system begins to slow down and then grind to an almost halt. The resource manager tells me that I am using approx. 30% of my CPU and about 25% of my memory. The slow down occurs if I open min. (1-2) apps or more. Also, I can not track it to occurring after I use a specific app. The only non-standard item I installed was a Broadcom wireless driver.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi run ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, using firefox 3.5.6 (courtesy of ubuntuzilla) as my web browser. i've had a problem with some flash and/or shockwave objects simply refusing to work inside firefox, despite having 64-bit flash player and all necessary plugins/addons/extras etc. installed.
there is no pattern to the problems, other than all of them being flash or shockwave objects that won't play. the majority of videos videos do play, including hd ones. however, this morning i encountered a pair of videos clips that simply would not play. i could load the page they were on, but all i ever saw was a black box, with no audio, where the video should have been.
i also noticed that on some of the videos that do play, the flash player's built-in volume control does nothing. i can slide it up or down or mute it entirely, but the sound from the flash video is unaffected.
i'll post urls of the problem videos later, so others can try them.
meanwhile i was able to watch other videos videos without issue, on another tab, aside from the broken flash player volume control.
i've also had a problem with the [url] player for a radio station, which i believe uses shockwave. i like to listen to atlanta, ga's wsb 750 am radio in the mornings before work, but so far i have to do it on a virtual windows xp machine running firefox 3.5.6, under virtualbox. if i try to open the player in firefox 3.5.6 running in the host os (ubuntu 9.10), i get only a blank popup window. url is [url]; click the "listen live" box at upper left to try it.
both machines, the host ubuntu 9.10 install and the guest windows xp machine, use exactly the same ad-blocking hosts file. i use the noscript addon in the host os install of firefox, but i allow any and all scripts when visiting the radio station's website.
since the streaming radio works on the virtual xp machine, i'm pretty sure my network configuration, hosts file etc. have nothing to do with this.
has anyone else had this problem? the flash content really should be agnostic with respect to the host os and browser, shouldn't it?
i guess it could be some random problem with the 64-bit vs. the 32-bit version of the flash plugin, so i may try instaling 32-bit ubuntu on a virtual machine to find out whether there's a difference.
I got a new desktop and figured this would be a great oppurtunity to update to 11.3 (from 11.2) while migrating files.. However I have had lots of problems with it, right of the bat. My first installation got messed up right after it was done, so I had to redo everything. Now the system boots up all fine but I am experiencing crashes every once in a while. By crashes I mean nothing works; the system monitor graphs freeze, the clock freezes, system doesnt respond to key strokes. The only remedy is then to "force an unexpected reboot" (ref: IT Crowd). I have a feeling that it has to do with Yast or something related to Yast, as it is the only common denominator between the crashes so far. However the system doesnt crash everytime I start Yast so I cant really say anything conclusively..
I have also realised that when I attach a secondary screen the graphics get kinda screwed as well.. if that makes any sense... Here are my system details: Dell Vostro Desktop with Core i7 64bit processor
8 x 2.8Ghz
6gig ram
graphics card: GeForce GT220
What could be the problem here? btw let me know if anyone wants to see logs from /var/log/messages
Using 64bit 10.10, when I click any of the controls that manipulate sound, such as pause, play, or changing volume, there is a 2 second delay before it takes effects, some examples:
- If I hit Play, then the video will begin to play but I hear no audio for 2 seconds, then the sound will begin in sync.
- If I adjust the volume it takes 2 seconds for it to actually change.
- If I hit pause it will immediately pause the video portion, but the sound continues for an additional 2 seconds before stopping.
I have seen numerous people on Google with my problem by googling "flash delay ubuntu". I do not believe this is related to pulseaudio, etc. that I know of, but seems to only occur using Flash as far as I am aware.
I am having a little problem with my flash player, the video plays fine but I can't get any sound. The sound card works properly with any other application, such as Amarok, but not with flash videos and my hardware is mostly Intel witch is linux-friendly from what I know, so I guess that it isn't a driver problem. Therefore, I switched from windows to linux only a couple days ago, so it may be a newbie issue as well.

I'm having some troubles with my soundcards. I have a Audigy ES PCI soundcard and I just recently bought an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 soundcard and at the moment I have both of them installed. I'm dual booting w/ Windows xp and I need the Audigy in Windows for gaming and because of the mic input that the M-Audio doesn't have.
First when I installed the M-Audio only Amarok (and probably other 'Phonon' apps) worked but I had no sound in mplayer, xine etc. With some googling I found a way to make the M-Audio card the primary card for Alsa and now mplayer & xine work fine too. M-audio 24/96 uses the module ice1712.Today I noticed I don't have sound in flash player (I use opera, but tried firefox too), and the (alsa?) command aplay won't play any .wavs. Flash sounds used to work okay with only the Audigy installed. I have tried to reinstall the flash player.Aplay -l :

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can get sound with my integrated sound but I have a sound card in the pci slot that i want to use (more specefically my video card can play sound through an hdmi cable which i use.it is hooked up to a tv).the system sound and audio players and video players all play sound through the pci slot but flash will not.it keeps playing sound throught the integrated sound. is there anyway i can change the sound device with the flash plugin?ive tried pulseaudio but that was a disaster and would rather not use that again.

I know html5 will make more options available for streaming audio over the web, but I have not seen or used html5 for anything yet. The only method that I know of for streaming audio without flash, although I haven't tried it, is via html5 video on ...... This is certainly a suboptimal method for streaming music since the audio quality cannot be guaranteed and is likely mediocre. Nonetheless, I've heard that it works. Also, as a second unrelated question, are there any open source flash players that you guys have used to stream audio from these music sites? I tried a group of different players like Gnash about 6 months ago and failed to stream Pandora or Grooveshark.
I am using Firefox 5.0 with Ubuntu Lucid x64 and I have no audio with Flash video. Audio works just fine on other applications so I'm guessing this might be a permission's issue or setting of some sort? I also have: flashplugin-installer 11.0.1.60~110713-ppa0~lucid & flashplugin-nonfree 11.0.1.60~110713-ppa0~lucid installed with ALSA v1.0.24.2.

I hit an error on installing the adobe Flash, the first attempt I have, I mistakenly downloaded and installed the version for 8.x, and hit an error on installation. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Lucid i386 on an intel Core2Duo. Everything seems to be OK but about a third of the times I boot the system the following happen:
1) aplay -l reports no soundcards found and therefore I have no sound whatsoever
2) I cannot mount any USB Flash drives or DVD discs and I keep getting "Not authorized" error messages plugging them in.
3) The system won't reboot/shutdown by the gnome applet. Instead, it will drop back to the login screen asking my login. Furthermore, it won't even shutdown from there! Only a poweroff or reboot from command line can work.
4) The gnome applet "Indicator applet session" only shows "Log out, Restart, Shutdown". Suspend and Hibernate options are missing.
Furthermore, it seems that I am the only one who has these issues. My sound card is an onboard HDA Intel although this seems to be that something else dies taking some major subsystems down with it. Any ideas?

Most applications including flash, znes, have a audio delay about 3 seconds I'm not very experienced with Ubuntu so try not to talk over my head, I'm running on the latest version available from the site desktop version and my computer setup is as follows.
Dell Dimension 3000
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.53 GHz
80 Gb Harddrive with at least 20gb free
I don't really know where else to find information about this system, so if you need additional information you will need to direct me how to find it.
This happens nearly anytime I watch any relatively lengthy flash video on ..... or other online flash players. I watch the video, and the audio is fine for a few seconds, but then the audio cuts off as the video continues to play. Sometimes, when I move the scrollbar of the screen/pause and replay the movie, it starts back up again for a few seconds then shuts off or plays the audio I just heard.

The episode is so old that it predates the podcast (which of course, would solve all my problems). I would like to use something like icecream or VLC to rip the audio from the 'Listen Now' link on this page. Unfortunately I am having a hard time finding the actual URL. The player itself is a Flash widget, so it is something more complicated than looking for OGG, mp3 or RAM file extensions in the page source. If there are some nifty command flags I should add when invoking icecream on the command line, I am all ears.

View 13 Replies View Relatedi've been experiencing an issue with audio playback for certain flash videos that stream from the web. most play smoothly, like the videos at videos. others have this strange background noise that is only present when there is audio (usually on news websites that host their own videos). when there is sound, there is a strange stuttering noise that disappears during the silent pauses.

the videos video at the top plays just fine. if you scroll down and watch the other video in the small box, you'll hear the stuttering. i have fedora 14 kde, adobe flash player 64 bit preview release 3 and rpm fusion codecs installed. the problem is also present in fedora 14 with gnome, same setup. the problematic videos play without the stuttering in ubuntu.
i just installed 11.2 and i do not get any audio from flash movies (e.g. videos). (startup sound and amarok work ok). interestingly i do manage to get sound out of flash in a particular circumstance:
* i install 11.2 from the livecd using default settings.
* at the end of the process i log in as a normal user
* in a console as super user i run "zypper install flash-player"
* flash-player and nspluginwrapper get installed (nothing else)
* i start firefox and i am able to play flash movies with sound from videos
* i reboot and log in as a normal user
* i start firefox and now flash movies from videos play without sound
So everything was working perfectly on my system. I have Debian SID, with the debian-multimedia repos and liquorix repos for kernels. Flash worked perfectly one boot, then the next boot the video still works perfectly but no audio. I found several "fixes" on the web, including creating .asoundrc in your home directory and another that said to
