Does anyone know the Code to automount/autofs? I can't tell if my mount points are truly NOT mounted when not accessed. Especially since they show up in /proc/mouts:

Code:

Security :: CA And Browser Trust Models Need Overhaul

Oct 23, 2010

The cryptographic underpinnings of the Internet, as presently constituted, are messy, chaotic and rather randomly constructed. And that infrastructure is not only ripe for a variety of attacks, but is not easily fixable, a group of experts said Friday. At a forum on browser security sponsored by a Washington policy think tank, a group of technologists and policy experts from industry and government outlined the serious architectural and implementation problems with SSL, the certificate authority infrastructure and the way that browsers handle certificates. It was not a pretty picture. The problems extend from the way that CAs issue certificates to how certificates are handled by the major browsers to the way that attackers are able to take advantage of the weaknesses throughout the system.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Microdia/Trust-Webcam Won't Work

Jan 21, 2010

I've just bought a new, cheap webcam. The manufacturer is "Trust", who builds chips of Microdia in their products. So, I plugged my new webcam, noticed that the driver obviously is missing and I finally decided to use Google.

Well, there were some tutorials which include manual installation of gspca (which should be included in the recent kernel files, but somehow isn't). So..I tried the manual installation and it aborts with the message, that there was some error in one of the code files..however.

I continued searching for a solution and found it on the German Ubuntu community page, ubuntuusers.de. Their wiki says that I have to run the following commands that download and compile the right drivers for my webcam. Or at least they should do so.

Code:

Code:

Code:

Code:

Code:

Code:

Code:

And eventually it should work properly. So far the theory. In fact it aborts at exactly this point:

Code:

And gives the following error message:

Code:

Well, urm. I guess I'll have to install that missing module..somehow, but I do not really have hunch.

Slackware :: Samba 3.5 With New Hardware And Machine Trust Account

Jun 25, 2010

I need some expert advice here regarding the samba problem after upgrading. All data migrated with the appropriate permission. I transferred the /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and /etc/samba/* files to the new server.

Previous working version (Slackware v11 - 32bits - Old Hardware)
- samba-3.0.25a-i486-1_slack11.0
- XP Pro users are able to login and authenticate (NT DOMAIN)
- Login script and file sharing with permission are okay too

Upgraded to (Slackware 13.1 64bits - New hardware)
- samba-3.5.2-x86_64-1
- if the PC did not logoff, the file sharing and permission works fine.
- If they logoff, they will not able to re-logon.
- If I detach the PC from domain and then rejoin domain, I will be able to login to the domain, So I guess the samba configuration is working

I read it has to do with Machine Trust Account or something.
- Can I convert or make samba 3.5 recognize the Machine Trust Account on the new hardware?
- How can I check if the if the entry is successfully registered as machine trust account?
I checked and found the 'machinename$' (example) in all three places /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and /etc/samba/private/passdb.tdb. I see no differences on the one PC that I unjoin and rejoin the domain versus those old domain name join to the old hardware.

Debian :: Apt-get Autoremove, Blind Trust, And Semi-essential Packages?

Sep 7, 2011

I've been using Debian for around ~3 months now, though before that a certain derivative thereof since the start of the year.Long story short is that I was installing packages, as you do, when apt-get prompted that I run apt-get autoremove, as it does. So, trusting the computer, I do, not bothering to read the chunk of packages that it recommends to remove. Life goes on, until a reboot reveals that there are issues.Short story shorter, a quick cat /var/log/dpkg.log | grep remove spits out the following:

root@kubrick:~# cat /var/log/dpkg.log | grep remove
2011-09-05 22:04:09 startup packages remove

Fedora Servers :: "Broken Trust Chain" From Named In Syslog?

Apr 19, 2010

I use named as a local caching nameserver (it has seemed the most stable DNS solution in the past given my ISP's flaky DNS servers) and I've noticed (since using fedora 12) a number of "broken trust chain" messages from named in /var/log/messages, for example:

Code:
named[986]: broken trust chain resolving 'www.bbc.net.uk/AAAA/IN': 212.58.224.20#53

I haven't made much sense of the things I've found via google, and am not even sure if this is a bad problem or not.

Ubuntu :: Trust Tablet Tb4200 - Cant Seem To Move Mouse Curser Anymore Unless Touch The Pen On The Tablet

Sep 15, 2010

I m on ubuntu 10.04 and have a Trust tb 4200 tablet.. and having problems with my trust tablet runing on ubuntu.. i pluged in the tablet and to my amaze it started working right away until i pressed the pen on the tablet.. i cant seem to move the mouse curser anymore unless i touch the pen on the tablet. (wich acts as a click) so i thought that i may be missing the drivers.. i checked thes forum and there was a post to install the aptek drivers which i did (but still worked the same) and i found out thet there was no 10-aiptek.fdi (in "/etc/hal/fdi/policy/") so i created one and copied one from a post.. in [url]...3&postcount=50 but still cant move the courser without touching.. its like if it did no diference at all.. i also changed the values in the 10-aiptek.fdi with no changes.. the size of the tablet is just the size of the screen so i am using the full tablet.. and no buttons work...

I think the drivers are not workin.. in the synaptic it shows as intalled...

Debian :: Usb Automount With RW ?

Nov 20, 2010

I have a simple usb mount problem, but after looking around, haven't been able to solve it. So far I've come across hal, dev, usbmount, pmount, and got lost in all this.

So, when I plug my usb as non-root I get that "not authorized" message. I solved this by installing usbmount package. After that, as non-root, usb mounts, but I can't write, I only have read rights. I tried changing "MOUNT OPTIONS" in usbmount.conf, but no luck.

What is the proper way of automounting usb and how to control access rights and what user can do what?

I also tried with fstab entries, but everytime I unplug my usb stick and plug it back in, /dev entry changes...

Debian :: Cryptsetup Automount USB Key

Aug 27, 2015

I setup a luks encrypted /home partition on my Debian jessie, with an automount when my usb key containing the luks secret is plugged in at startup.

I did configure /etc/fstab so that my usb key be mounted at startup to /media/usb1, and /etc/crypttab to open my encrypted partition with the key at /media/usb1/homekey. It works.

However, when my usb key is not plugged in, boot fails and never shows welcome screen. I would change this behaviour so that when my usb is missing, boot resumes and do not mount /home partition. How could I manage this?

Fedora :: How To Automount Another Partition

Sep 4, 2010

On my computer for the last couple of years I have been running Ubuntu and Windows XP in a dual boot system. Due to some unsolvable problems in Ubuntu, I decided to try out Fedora. I created a third partition on my computer and into this partition I installed Fedora. Now when I boot my computer I can either run Fedora or Windows XP. Eventually, I plan to get rid of Ubuntu completely. But for now the Ubuntu partition is still on my hard disk; I can't boot up with Ubuntu anymore, and that's OK. I don't need to run Ubuntu, but I would like to be able to access the Ubuntu partition, since there are files there that I want to keep.

At least I want to be able to read and write to the files in Ubuntu. How can I automatically mount the Ubuntu partition so that I can work with its files from Fedora?

I'm pretty sure that to get the Ubuntu partition to mount, I need to enter some lines into the etc/fstab file. Does anyone know what I should enter into Fedora's etc/fstab file so that the Ubuntu partition will be mounted?

In my Ubuntu installation the partition is named DiskF, it is partitioned in the ext3 file system. In Fedora when I look at /media/DiskF, it is empty.

When I run [code] blkid in a terminal here is the output:

What are the commands that I need to put in /etc/fstab so that when I boot my computer in Fedora DiskF will be mounted?

Fedora Hardware :: Automount In KDE ?

Nov 12, 2010

I configured "removable devices" in system settings as follows:

checked "Enable automatic mounting of removable media"

and

checked "Automatically mount removable media when attached"

Now following reason you would expect when you put a CD/DVD in the CD/DVD player it would be automatically mounted in directory /media/ yes?

But no - you first HAVE to open the CD or DVD with a program (like a file manager) before the directory and its content appears in directory /media/. This is not expected and very annoying.

Why does the configuration screen not work as expected. Are all settings just being ignored or something? If so - then why are those settings there in the first place? Or did I simply done something wrong?

I just want a CD or DVD been automatically mounted when I put it in the player, so I can access it without first having to open it in a separate program.

Ubuntu Installation :: Don't Want Automount In 10.04?

May 24, 2010

I have a problem that I can not decide for 2 weeks. Here is what happened: On my laptop, installed just Windows XP. In the past, when I installed the second system, Ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10 (for dual-boot), Ubuntu asked the administrator password for access to just Windows XP partition. I mean, that just Windows XP partitions were visible, but for the entrance (mount) needed a root password.

Now, in Ubuntu 10.04, Windows XP partition mount automatically and Ubuntu does not require the root password. I do not like it very much.

Tell me please, what do the settings at the time of installation of Ubuntu for just Windows XP that the system would be asking root password for just Windows XP partitions? Is this possible? I think - yes. Because in the past the default 9.04 and 9.10 asked for a password.

PS: I must say, as I put Ubuntu and just Windows: 1. Be installed just Windows XP, giving it 20 GB space 100 GB hard drive. </span>The remaining 80 Gigabytes leave out the implications.
